Old Fall River Road RMNP 7. 79 piece Stars. 12:40. This would be a great time to go there!
Thanks once again, JP!
Yes the Old Fall River Road and The more major Trail Ridge Road are completely closed during the Winter. This scene is above 11,000 feet (above the tree Line) in the area of Alpine tundra.
Yes. The last time I was in the park, many years ago, was Halloween - Oct, 31st. I had driven there from Denver on the scenic route, with a short sidewalk seating omelet breakfast stop on Pearl St. in Boulder (ahhh) along the way, followed by a quick run through the nearby Army Navy store to get warm gloves, hat, and scarf, and a stop in a deli off Pearl for lunch/bev provisions to go in my daypack, and then on to RMNP, via an Estes Park entrance. I was hoping to drive the Trail Ridge Rd that day - it had been a warm season to-date that year, and was a nice day that day, too. But the park ranger said that road had been closed just the day before(!) due to ice on it. Rats-a-roni... I didn't get to drive on it. Still, I had a great day hike by several wonderful park features and a snack respite with a great view in a secluded spot in the park, and then drove back to Denver later that day via sunset atop the mountain at Loveland Pass - Gorgeous sunset! Very dicey icy road with no guard rail there!!! Got down that mountain and back safely to Denver with a few more grey hairs. Had a burger and a beer at a fav place in downtown Denver, and then walked to a recommended bar that was full of friendly people in Halloween costume. Had a blast. It was a great day. I wanna go back!!!
