Lily in Love - UPDATE May 30, 2025

Lily and her cubs
We got word that Lily found a beau. I don’t know if they’ve been together before, but Lily apparently decided it was time to shift her focus to her next litter. I’m told the picture I received of her with Lizzy, Lenox, Leighton, and Lars was taken at 1:43 PM on May 18, the last time she was seen with them. The picture shows them all in good shape as they begin life on their own. There is a reasonable chance that female Lizzy could continue living in this area, but it’s likely the three males will disperse to an area where there are females and not too much competition for them. Dispersing males sometime travel over a hundred miles in their search for a good life.

Rusty approaches

In this story of Lily, I’m told she was not seen for four days until she showed up with Rusty on May 22 at 8:30 PM. Sometime between May 18 and 22, she’d made the switch. Sometimes, the sudden presence of a male can be the last straw in triggering the switch from mothering to mating. Over the next four days Lily and Rusty appeared together each evening as it was getting dark.

Then there was another gap in the sightings until today when there they were still together showing up in full daylight for pictures of how they relate to each other and a better look at Rusty’s brown-tinted fur for which he was named. The pictures show them calmly snacking together. It shows Lily fully relaxed as her big beau comes walking straight toward her—maybe to give her the gentle love bite that Lily is accepting in another picture knowing the relationship they’ve built.

Here is a video of the two together.

I’m thankful that the landowner sent the pictures and information. Hopefully, we’ll all see how long they stay together, how they relate to each other in the future, and learn more about Lily and her new litter in 2026.

Thank you for all you do,

I'm back EV1. No word from Debbie, but that is probably OK.  I know she had a nail date with Diane today.  So she is probably there.  It is 1pm here, and I don't know the appointment time for her. So I will wait a while.  Then text a how r u .  I did send a few nest pics earlier about 10.  She usually gets right back on texts.  No reply yet.  So I am a little concerned.  Recurring intense headaches have been a problem for her for months.  I am worried, but she is an RN who knows a lot more than I about health.
Very nice to see all normal stuff this morning.  YAY!  Doc, puzzle, shame and Lily WOW!  Need a little Indy, and cats, and dog, and bird talk and we'll be all set. LOL  You are getting better Cal.  Good for you.
Finally did puzzle.  I wrote down the time so I would not lose it again. LOL it took me 5:05.  Which is not too bad.  I used my right hand. It did not hurt.  No carpel tunnel, LOL. Just a slight sprain that is healed.
PS:  Good news.  Debbie just checked in.  She is doing good and is at lunch with Diane now. TYG

Good Monday Morning.  55 and dry here.  Odin is graduating from kindergarten at noon today.  i will get him from early release at his school.  He has been asking me to take him to The Hungry Bear restaurant for a few weeks.  Today is the day if he wants to go.  We will.  Maybe Letha House Lake too.  Time and temp permitting.
Took a peak at cams while brewing second cup.  Most look good. TV still not working.  Snowman was devastated by the bear in the night as he rolled it over and rode it to the ground. I saw it being fixed up already this morning.
Coffee is waiting so CUL EV1 GBU

Good Morning,

cal, Please check in to let us know how you are. I agree with nan. Prayers for you getting answers and help.

nan, Very good about no sickness for Bren and your family get together sounds nice!
We went to cabin Sat morning and returned yesterday evening. I was cautious while there and there was no itching. I was still on Prednisone so that was good.

jo, Aww to Odin graduating. Sounds like a very pleasant day both of you. Enjoy!

Paulie, I'm glad to hear that you didn't have any more issues at the cabin. Prednisone is an amazing med! I bet you need a rest now after your busy weekend/week and more!
Cal, I forgot to thank you for the bear report this morning. Do you feel any better since this morning?
Hi Jo, hope you're having a good day.

5:36 at 11:23 pm Hot out tonight.  60 still.  House is very hot.  Will try to sleep with just a sheet, but will turn on ac if needed.  Computer is really messed up.  So is old laptop.  I am how they say, "Jonesing", without my computers.
What a day.  Wonderful ceremony with five classes of graduating kindergarteners. Lots of good pictures for Debbie.   So much sweetness and innocence.  Debbie made it in time with cousin Cal.  He really had his eye on all the little brothers and sisters in the crowd.  He repeatedly squealed and pointed around.  Each time he did this I saw he was pointing out another child.  Cousin Bash was away at camp and could not be with us.  Odin missed him.  Odin chose to go to the Hungry Bear for pancakes. We did not get there until 2PM.  We were hungry. He said I should tell the waitress to bring all the syrup in the place to him.  She brought him five Smuckers containers.  He put them all on his plate beside the pancakes so he could dip them as he ate.  He ate every crumb.
Then we went to Letha House Lake.  Odin got to play on the playground stuff a while.  He did the monkey bars very well.  He is strong. Then we fished in the roasting sun for a while.  We caught nothing.
One man near us caught 6 large bass with a worm.  We had only bread and artificial bass lures.
As we packed up to leave the others were leaving too. They asked if we wanted the left over worms.  I have them in my cooler.  Maybe I will fish tomorrow.  If Odin can go I will take him along.
On the way home we went by Debbie's so Odin could maybe see Bash.  Too bad though, Bash and Cal had just left for home with Mary.
So I took Odin home with Nick and rushed to my place so I could make it to a new activity for me called Beanbag Baseball.  I did very poorly.  It was embarrassing.
Well I am very tired and will say Good Night and GBU EV1.  Especially those who are sufferring.

4:59 on the star fish.  That dog looks like he is wearing a wig. LOL  It took me a while to realize it was part of Uncle G.s hat.
Thanks for your almost "normal" post Cal.  Sounds like a very hard night.  Way too much pain.
Odin can't go with me today.  He is out of town on vacation for a while.  His big brother, Nick, did not go with him and may want to go fishing after school.  If he does want to go I will wait for him.  If not I will go soon.  I have nothing else pressing today.  Except you guys. LOL
Bye now EV1 GBU
