7:13  That was a hard one for sure.  It's been a hard day too.  Got to Kent and back ok, but then rest of day was one fiasco after the other. Don't want to talk about it.
Good report at the Doctor though.  He is very very proud of the job he has done keeping me healthy.  He even started a little beard.  He says it was due to me and mine.  He gave me a new pill to take to stop forgetting stuff.  We will see if it helps.  Took one.  No headache or anything yet.
Almost 1/4 to 7.  Guess I should start cooking something.  Campbell's soup probably.  Maybe a cheese sandwich too.  with water.
Took a peek at cams.  Snow blackbirds rule.  TV is on two eggs they say, and I can see her. YAY! Thanks Cal for the tip.  I had given up on her.  Now I need reinstate the bookmark. DONE!!!

Good morning EV1. Uh Oh!  Where's Cal.  Hope she is OK with just technical difficulties.
Glad to see TV on her two eggs.  The Snowman and goose are still in a bad way due to the gear's visit.  I watched as he deliberately tore things up.  He fooled around touching and feeling the goose, and then knocked her over in a tizzy fit as if he was disappointed that she was not edible.

Falcon cam at GSB has a smudge right in the middle.

Will check other cams later.

Another Thank You and Another Bear - UPDATE April 24, 2025

Following up on the ‘Earth Day’ Thank you for what we all have done and are doing for bears, I’m thankful for another opportunity you helped make possible. It is the opportunity to show the world what black bears are really like, which you started when you donated a quarter million dollars to get the ball rolling for the film that Ted Oakes and his team are working to have happen. To help raise a million for a full hour or hour and a half film, the team put together a 20-minute synopsis that I got to see in its captivating finality yesterday. The North American Bear Center and the WRI can play it but we cannot put it online as that would interfere with the full film that is in the works. The short film and the full film are about what black bears are really like, which is the message I want to get to the world. They are using the story of my life and career to spread the educational message. The short film includes my family and how it is for daughters to grow up among wild bears. The family adds punch and makes me doubly thankful for them. What their participation did for this 20-minute film makes me even more hopeful that the full film, which the team intends to have reach millions of people, will come to fruition. As I write this, the North American Bear Center is adjusting equipment in its theatre so it can play the short film several times each day when they open daily on May 2. It warms my heart to remember when so many of you donated the quarter million that began this process to educate. Ted has some donors lined up to fund the feature film, and he is seeking more from big broadcasters. I’m crossing my fingers and thanking you for what has happened so far. I like the feel of what’s happening as I imagine what Ted and his team will do for bears with the full feature film.

On another note, a third bear has been identified in the study area. It is 3-year-old Bertha, sister of Bentley who she was with yesterday. Both are just as calm as they can be, probably glad to be back in the peaceful swing of things.

Lilypad picnic

I am sorry to report that the LilyPad Picnic is off for this year due to situations beyond anyone’s control, but Whimzy’s team is on for next year with plans for an extraordinarily memorable event that I am looking forward to.

Lilypad Picnic 2025 Update
Hello friends,
We’re very sad to share that the 2025 Lilypad Picnic will not be taking place. With changing economic challenges facing many of our guests in both the U.S. and Canada, along with scheduling conflicts for some of our committee, we’ve made the difficult decision to take a pause (paws) this year.
That said, the Northwoods Bear Foundation is hopeful and excited to plan for a wonderful picnic in 2026! In the meantime, we encourage everyone who can to come enjoy Ely this summer—take in the beauty, explore the many outdoor activities, and don’t miss a visit to the NABC to see Dr. Rogers and the incredible bears we love.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support.
The Northwoods Bear Foundation
Thank you again for all you do and have done.
Lynn Rogers, Biologist, Wildlife Research Institute and North American Bear Center

6:47  Sounds like Doc's film is progressing.  lots of big expenses.  Too bad about the Picnic. I never went, but liked hearing from those who did. I wonder if others miss the Mods as much as I do.  Mostly, I never know which bear I am looking at.
Well I am very glad you made it Cal. I did the puzzle, and sent shame to others as I do each morning.  I don't know how to send Doc's update.
Well Denise says mail is in so I will go now to the box around the corner.
Then class lunch at 11:30, and Debbie will visit after 1:30.
No more dog hauls for a while I think.  I had two trips canceled yesterday and am feeling apprehensive about the situation there.

Hi everyone. I had a wonderful hour with Bren yesterday before they took her for the liver biopsy. I waited two hours for her to come back so I could say goodbye (even though she told the nurse to tell me to go home due to the delay - she never wants to inconvenience anyone, but I wanted to be there!) When I called her this morning she shared the results - very bad. It is small cell cancer. They told her that with chemo she might have six months to a year. Told me not to cry. She is so strong! All of us who love her will be doing everything we can for her.

Cal, I know it must be en enormous challenge for you dealing with pain every day as you think about all you need and want to do. It's extremely hard to be patient when we're healing. I hope each day is a bit better for you. Thanks for the bear report.

Jo, I'm sorry to hear about your apprehension with the dog situation.

Hi Paulie. I hope all is well with you and your family.

Thanks to all of you kind folks for your thoughts and prayers for Bren.❤️

Nan, How could you not cry.  I am even crying for you right now.  I will continue to pray for Brenda's comfort. GB her and you.
Don't worry about me and the dogs.  It will be fine.  A group text was sent recently saying everyone will need retraining in dog and cat care and handling.  This is from a new manager.  Therefore quite a bit of political maneuvering is going on.  As is common with any organization.
There are 48 people  in the transport phone group who rarely see each other, and never at the same time.  Most I think are old timers and have established other more effective communication channels. I am a relative newby with a lot to learn.
The animals will not miss out on vet care or grooming.  That is what counts.
Sounds like Cal is progressing.  Doing steps .  Pretty soon going to see the barn animals. Pretty high price for not so good pizza  We have Marco's here.  I've tried a lot of kinds and keep coming back to them.  I like to add stuff too when I make a low cost frozen one from the store.  I almost always add onions and extra cheese.
I will peek at cams now that I have quit crying by talking about normal stuff.  Normal is the cure remember for grief.

Hi jo, Good that you received a good report from your doctor. Thanks for explaining about dog and cat transport. Makes sense.

Hi cal, Sorry about your lots of pain. Probably because you're trying to cut back on pain med. I was told once to keep on schedule with pain med to keep up with the pain then with each refill of the med the strength is lessened eliminating the risk of dependency. I understand though with you not taking is as often because it makes you feel not good. You know what's best for you.

Interesting you got a survey from Hays. You live in Missouri correct?

I remember you posting in the past to jo about the current administration and you both don't like it. I stay out of discussing politics here on the Forum and sometimes with friends and family. I say we can agree to disagree depending on the topic.

Wow cal! You walked down your basement steps! Good for you! That's progress! And barn eventually. I'm happy for you.

Hi nan, God bless your sister, Bren and you too. So very sad. She does sound strong. Thank you for updating us. Prayers continue for her and for you too nan.  :-*

7:11 Sorry to hear you are suffering so Cal.  Thanks for working through it and posting.  It helps us try to stay normal.
Coffee and cereal are waiting.  So I will go. PLUS I saved the paper from yesterday so I have a paper to read with breakfast.  Life is good. Bye EV1 GBU all.
