Dear cal, I am so sorry about your Odie. God bless you. Odie was lucky to have had you love and care for him. He felt your love.

Tomorrow you remain in my prayers for your successful knee replacement. Everything is going to go smoothly for you.

Take care. XO

9:30 bear is back on Snowman and one porky is on the table.  I say back because the feeder is gone.  So I think he got it earlier and finished it off out of camera range. In the past the bears always knocked the table over.
I will go back and watch a while.  CUL EV!
Sending one more prayer to Cal for a good experience at the doctor.
It's just after 10 now and a racoon is the only one at the Snow Cam.  He was on the table.  Not finding much I guess, because he went down to the ground.  I think most of the food is gone for tonight.  So I'm gone too. GN All.

You're welcome, Paulie.
I'm not sure if you'll be back in here before your surgery, Cal. Please remember that there are many thoughts, prayers, and good wishes coming your way, and to your surgeon, too. Before you know it, you'll have a new knee that will just keep getting better. Sleep well and take good care. Goodnight, everyone.

February 11, 2023: Mom, DM2, and A Day Trip to Decorah!
 February 16, 2023    RaptorResource
Story and photos by Robin Brumm

February 11, 2023: DM2 in N4.
February 11, 2023: DM2 in N4.
It’s been about a month since I’ve been to Decorah and the weekend weather was predicted to be sunny and mid 40’s…perfect weather for a trip to Decorah! So I set the alarm to Dark O’clock on Saturday, and off I went. When I got to Decorah, I went right to the hatchery. I had seen that Hatchery Dad had spent part of the night on the nest, and I was hoping he was still there! I drove past N1…Ugh! I was too late, both he and Hatchery Mom left by the time I got there! I waited a little while, but they didn’t show up, so I decided to go to N4 and see if Mom and DM2 were around.

When I walked down the trail to the N4 area, I looked up and saw an eagle flying toward N4 with a stick. I looked through my binoculars but couldn’t tell who it was. I took a picture and zoomed in on my camera. It was DM2! I took several pictures of him in the nest, and then scanned the area with my binoculars. I looked in a few of their favorite perching spots. Wait! There was somebirdy in the perch tree, higher up in the branches. It was Mom! I got a big smile on my face. I love when I get to see both of them. Eventually DM2 flew to a tree near N4, while Mom stayed in the upper branches of the perch tree. I think she found a perfect spot to supervise, lol. I stood on the trail for the longest time watching Mom and DM2. I wanted to get a fly-off or flying shot. My camera shut off so I looked down to turn it back on and looked back up at Mom and DM2, and they were both gone!! I really think they watch me and when they notice I look away they take off! Lol I looked all over and couldn’t see them flying anywhere, and I only looked down for a couple of seconds! How do they disappear like that?

I waited for a little bit but Mom and DM2 didn’t come back, so I drove to the Hatchery to see if I could find HD & HM. I looked in all the favorite spots close to the hatchery but didn’t see them. I drove down the road a little ways and looked to the left. There they were, in the tree line behind the cow farm! I was able to pull off onto the side of the road and get a few photos. They actually stayed in that tree for several hours. Finally it was time for me to leave. Even though I was a little disappointed that I didn’t get more and better photos, it was a good day because I did get to see all 4 eagles. Hmmm.. now that I think about it, any time I get to see Mom and DM2 it is a great day!

Cal, it's probably too late for you to see this post - sorry about that. Thanks for the Robin Brumm pictures and commentary about Mom and DM2. I remember reading that back in 2023. It was nice of Robin to do that for all of us. You're welcome for the newest update on Mom and DM2. Odie was very lucky to have you. It was surely a sad but sweet goodbye.
Sending thoughts, prayers, and some luck, too, for a successful and safe surgery. I'll be waiting to see you back in Jewel, and your kids will be so excited to see you!!!
Have a good night Jo and Paulie.

Bear came at 9:12 Snow time and ran off with the feeder in  his mouth.  He was not there more than one or two seconds. I had to scroll very carefully to catch his image.  I am getting better at that.  Now I will cruse the birds to make sure they are all asleep.  Then I will do a little solitaire.  Then I will sleep.
I am hopeing Cal has as good an experience as I had.  I think she will.  God willing.
I got caught unaware by the Decorah goose babies jumping from the eagle nest yesterday.  There are two videos on utube.  I watched both.  They are good, but not as good as the first such jump I watched.  It was at that place out in CA where Bob and Amy put in a video system over a large park like farm with several well spaced cameras.  It was a good site.  I watch Barn Owls, geese, deer, coyotes, and I think even a bobcat.  I can't find it anymore.

Good Morning,

cal, You are in my thoughts and prayers. I'm sure the same for jo and nan for you too. We're all wanting the very best for you.

Hi jo and nan  :)

jo, Did cal happen to tell you what time her surgery is scheduled for?

Yes Paulie.
She probably did, but I don't know  now.  Sorry.  She said she would try to let us know when she wakes up.  It could be a while.  I am anxious to hear if I still have a friend in chat or if I am maybe now persona non-grata for encouraging her so much. LOL
BTW.  I am having a lot of trouble getting my computer to work.  All my bookmarks, there were a lot, were somehow dumped last night.  First time for this for me.  Plus I have lost my GURU.  He was a wizard, and I don't know what happened to him.  He just vanished from his storefront downtown.  It is now marked "available".
Well, we just have to keep hoping for the best for now.  I have lots of work to do yet on the puter.
Plus I am texting with my two nieces in NY and CA.  I sent one each of Doc's videos to them, and asked them to trade.  Then let me know what they thought. One is dinging in to my phone right now.  Plus plus I heard that my mail is in down around the corner, and it's lunch time so I guess I gotta go.

Hi Paulie and Jo. I didn't know the timing of Cal's surgery. Start to finish with any surgery seems to take quite a long time. It will be a relief to hear from her!

Sorry about your computer problems, Jo, and your guru going poof. I have a tidbit for you that might make you smile. I think the place you were pining for where you could view a good variety of wildlife on cams was Eaglecrest, in CA. I used to watch it, too. Either the owner moved or passed away; I don't recall. But I don't think Amy and Bob were involved there. Let me know if I'm wrong about that. When I started searching for it this morning, I found a Facebook link: https://www.facebook.com/EaglecrestWildlife/photos. I don't do Facebook so I couldn't get in and I don't know if it's current or very old.

Hi jo, Okay no problem about time. We'll all hear from cal eventually. Naaa you will not be persona non-grata. Cal has said what a good friend you are to her. That being said I understand what you mean though. LOL

Sorry to hear about your computer problems. That stinks! Sounds very frustrating that's for sure.

My heavens you keep busy. You've got a busy day today.

Hi nan, True what you said about surgery time. Then there's recovery. Yes it will be a relief to hear from her.

jo and nan, We know the nurses and doctors at the hospital tending to cal have a special patient. I had to chuckle reading her post this morning about going to prison then reading she hid her BP pills. Oh my gosh! Lol

cal, We love ya! You'll be home with your kids before you know it.
