hi paulie looked like you might of gotten some storms on the weather channel our storms went thru really fast so that did help rain wise barn took some water but jim pellet it down and it did pretty good. he said looks like only a little chance of rain next wed but i heard different on the farm radio so hoping it will not rain next week when he is gone rain coming fri sat but he will still be here

I'm BACK!!!  Finally did the puzzle.  Pretty good time of 5:08.  Nice grey day here.  Lots of flood warnings from yesterdays storms.  I like to drive around and look at the various creeks etc. where I know it floods.  Second coffee almost gone.  So I will say CUL EV1 GBU and GB America.

April 3, 2025 And the First Bear of the Year iiiisssss----LEVI!!!!

After comparing photos and seeing his personality it has to be him!  He’s been coming every day.

Today, there was another bear report maybe two miles away—a mother with a single yearling. We’re waiting to hear more and see more for identification and to see how they are. I hope we can see them soon.

Eight days ago (March 26) was the first visit by a Herring Gull. He comes every day and in the last couple days has been joined by two others even though there is no open water in this area yet.

Big excitement today was seeing the bald eagle swoop in for his treat. What made it extra exciting was him unexpectedly whizzing by about eight feet over Peggy’s head as she was shoveling snow off the steps only 12-15 feet from the drumstick that was suddenly gone after she put it out only minutes before. 

I have yet to get a good picture of that kind of action, although I did catch him in poor light a couple days ago partially into the picture with his feet far forward and his talons spread—just a fraction of a second before he snatched the drumstick from the little roof in front of him.

Snow evidently brings siskins to dinner. Each of two snowstorms had siskin numbers here in numbers near their high of the year. In the six-inch snowfall of yesterday, they seemed desperately hungry. Over five hundred of the gathered on the feeding deck with over a hundred in the surrounding trees.

Fishers are on the move. Three are coming now. One with part of its left ear missing an well healed is probably one that came a bit last year. It doesn’t seem as scared as I would expect.

The first woodchuck showed up April first, probably a male looking for a mate. I didn’t see him well enough to identify him or get a picture, though. We’ll see if he gives us another chance to ID him.

Last evening ended with a nice view—a beautiful valance that nature created outside the window.

We’ll see what bear comes next.

hi you guys its 44 cloudy rain coming i love docs update pictures are great fisher just too cute makes me sick to think some people out to harm them  the eagle was so cool what a good picture doc and eyes what a treat for you! eagle eyes was watching you and knows that is where food is laid out you guys do such a nice job taking care of the wildlife great rewards in doing so i think. i work hard taking care of wildlife here.  keeping them safe.

5:43  Could not sleep after 4am. First time for that for me.  So got up and turned on stock channel. They start early.  News is awful. Trump's tariffs are going to cause the worst recession in history according to Doctor Jeremy Seigel.  A very smart economics professor. 
Debbie and I are planning to go get some Lenten fish tonight.  I am looking forward to seeing her.  I haven't seen her in two weeks.  She usually has Friday off, but Mommy Mary is getting her new car serviced today.  So Debbie is keeping Bash.  I am not sure where Calum is.  Maybe with his Dad who works from home a lot.
Now I will let you go while I cruise the net and look at all my animal cams.  Thanks Cal for all you do.

Hi cal, Good that the other day Jim putting down pellets worked. Good too he'll be there tomorrow for the rain.
Yes the other day some storms rolled through my area. Lots of lightening, thunder and downpours. Another hefty storm came through about 4am this morning. The local weatherman and news people was talking about how loud and nasty it was. I slept through it. Didn't hear a thing. 

Hi jo, Waking way too early like you did today and not going back to sleep sucks honestly!! Hopefully you get a good night's sleep tonight.

hi you guys its 42 and clear here. jim is getting ready to head out of town he will be back next friday. he did clean out the barn awhile ago so i will have to pick up indys poop now and i hope it does not rain.

hi paulie lots of flooding in states a child got swept away in KY awful and awful flooding again i hate spring cant just rain a little has to be this.  i agree with you waking up not be able to sleep would suck. i really like sleeping after long day and doing tons of chores like sleeping

hi joho if i lose sleep and times i have or more like dogs barking and cats meowing i get up earlier next night boom out like a light so hope you slept good. bubba cat in here with me but he will have to go back to jims room he is all better and now jumps up on my desk and looking up higher where my wifi sets and i got to have that working!!

Hi Slept well. It was great seeing all of our bears getting out.  Hope to see a lot more of them.
 Now looking at two deer at Snowman.  They seem shy of somethin.  Rain with some snow there.  Will come back later to do puzzle and report on other cams.  But first COFFEE!!!

Now I see Denise reported the mailman at our mailbox.  So I will take a trip  to get my mail.  Rain has almost dried up, but it is getting real dark right now.  I may or may not be able to ride to the box.  Will let you know later.  Did not see any bears or many other animals this morning.

Well just so you know.  I took my bike and got my mail got my mail, but I also got soaked.  As did many of my neighbors who were out walking the trail, because it was so nice after the rain quit.  Instead of the one tenth mile direct trip to my box I took a 1.0 mile trip around the trail.  About half way around, just as I turned into the wind, here comes the rain.  Lots of it. My legs are burning and I am still breathing hard.  My clothes are hanging all over the place drying.  LOL
Now it is time for lunch here.  So CUL EV1 GBU
  BTW   I am praying today for Roger's comfort.  His son, Walter, told me yesterday that Roger has cancer, and needs prayers.

Levi Lineage and a Chipmunk - UPDATE April 5, 2025

On Levi’s visit today he was more interested in something in the distance than in posing for a picture. But, in a way, he did pose, letting the last rays of the setting sun light his face, probably doing the best he could. Maybe he knew better than I did what was right for the moment. He does have good lineage as the great great grandson of Shadow. His lineage with dates of birth in parentheses is Shadow (1987), RC (1999), Bow (2006), Daisy (2011), and Levi (2021).

As spring progresses, the first chipmunk appeared here on March 31 but didn’t pose for a picture until today. It’s an Eastern Chipmunk as shown by its brown less distinct facial stripes than the black standout facial stripes of the Least Chipmunk that we seldom see here.

On another note, my hero Jane Goodall turned 91 on April 3 (if she doesn’t mind me telling that), making her five years and six days older than I am and making me wish her many more years of the wonderful things she does.

hi you guys its 35 here when i came back in from the barn earlier it was dark of course something came up to me it was a dog  i did not pet it a male medium size very friendly so hoping it belongs to someone around here my outside feral cat did not get to eat all her food i just came back in will go back when it is light out i cannot deal with this last thing i need is another dog animal shelter in richmond only open at certain hours and i cant take it anyway jim is gone so when he gets back he will have to take it there call them he is bringing a dog makes me really sad and upset. now i cant feed her unless it is light out and i dont see that dog i cant feed raccoonies there right now or my possum just in the barn dog will not be able to get in that hidey hole leading into it.

hi joho be sure you dont catch cold getting all wet like that who is roger? im sorry if you said before i forgot. prayers for him  joho i read a couple of  bad reviews on dr niemann yesterday. really i only went to him cause my friend missy said he did her moms tnr but i message her mom and talked her and he did not do her a dr justice did hers and i looked he got some pretty bad reviews and she said her knee was still hurting her he did not do robotic either dr niemann does robotic will do that on me he also got some really good reviews but i dont know anything about him is he married does he have a dog i know all this stuff with dr buzzard dr foster dr platte not niemann

Hey 5:02! WOW! Do I know what a bike looks like or what?  I though we looked up Dr Niemann and saw lots of good reports vs not many bad ones. So far he has been doing the right thing for you.
 Roger is the father of the young tire mechanic, Walter, who road tested my car with me for tire shake.  We talked as we rode.  He is a nice young man and was worried about his Dad, Roger, who has recently started treatment for cancer.  I told him I would pray for Roger's comfort.
Yes,  you definitely need another dog right now.  He probably has heard what an animal lover you are, or maybe smelled the food for others.  He might just go home if you don't put out food.  I hope so.  For both of your sakes.
