Hi Jewelies!  gosh... where is everyone today?  Pretty day here today around 80o.  My youngest grand came home with a trophy from the chorus competition!  She got "Outstanding Soloist"!!   Pretty cool, huh?  She said there were schools there from as far away as Illinois.  So proud of her.

cal... I laughed so hard at you talking about Drama's papers and the small print said beaver dog!  lol

obsver... I'm trying to train my cats to throw up in the kitchen... Lily does pretty good with it, but messes up sometimes.  I say good girl, threw up in the kitchen, good girl.  Under my breath... yeah, right.  But I really chew them out when they do it on the carpet.  lol

Hi JP!  Is your Miami trip coming up pretty soon?

I hope everyone had a nice, busy day today and that's why everyone is MIA.  Hi to all!

Juliet and Little Ray.  OMG he was so tiny and cute!!!

Obsver, I never had kids, but anything I ever had around here that threw up NEVER did it on a regular floor that would be easy to clean up.  >:(

Boulevard -- It's the strip of grass between the street and sidewalk, at least that's what they call them here.  Ours are pretty wide.  This was looking out the window my first spring here....

This is Burt, waiting patiently.

I hope all of you  are feeling as good as I am.  That is a good way to kick-off Monday.

A quiet posting day yesterday.  I like to think that it was because all of you were enjoying a wonderful Sunday.

ra, you  asked about my trip to Miami.  That is scheduled for May 4.

I have not worked a puzzle for a while so I am looking forward to cal's post (unless she chooses circles).

Good wishes for a top-notch Monday, ladies.

That little pig "dog" shame is so cute.   :D

Glad you're starting the week out feeling good JP!!!

We're at 69 and headed for 74 and it's sunny.  The rain overnight/early morning just missed us.  Chester and I got our mile walk in and in the middle of it swung in and got his treats at the vets being they're closed on Saturdays and I forgot to stop Friday (ooops).  The poor boy was out of them all weekend and when we come in from walking he knows he gets one.  I had some itty bitty Milk Bones left and he'd sniff it, sniff it again, then take it.  :)   We heard he likes riding places and today for the first time put him in the back seat and made a quick trip to the grocery store for something I forgot the other day and he was quietly sitting there (still in the back seat) when I came out.  Went around the end of the block to Dollar General and ran in quick and when I came out (the front seat is split, has a center console) he was in the front seat with just the tip of his tail whapping up and down.  I said "what are you doing up here, get in the back seat" and he hopped right back there and sat down.  Obviously he's heard that one before.  :D

Yes Joe still has his sling, he will for a while yet.  The end of this week he goes for a follow up.  So far he just gets to do the pendulum circle thing with his arm hanging down.  Maybe he'll get other things after he's seen for his follow up.

What a grand old bear Burt is!

Hi Jewelies! It is hot and humid today! It's 82! Too early for 82. I'd like a little more spring before summer!

Cal, I know that Hyacinth episode you saw! I think that horse scene is one of the funniest! Can't believe I couldn't remember the end of the Sat episode I saw! Sounds like you are getting your house all spiffed up for your company coming!

Ra, the Internet says Katerina Rostova is Liz's mom, a Russian spy. Liz's real name is Masha Rostova. I suppose that's the same Katerina on the necklace but I could be wrong. Congrats to your grand! She is so talented. Bet she will have no trouble getting into whichever college she wants. Or is she already planning on Clemson?

Nora, thanks for the explanation of boulevard! We have those sections of grass here, too, between the sidewalk and street. Most  aren't as wide as yours. I never knew that area had a name!

Jp, glad you are feeling better!

Obsver, Crow finished his book and he liked it! Cool that a turkey vulture came to visit!

Bbl!

Hi Jewelies!  Got my yard all mowed.  I did it today because it's supposed to be hot Tuesday and Wednesday.  It's only 86o today...   :o  Like 86 isn't hot!  lol

rues.  Thanks for checking on who Katerina is!  Is she supposed to be dead?  I wonder if she really is.  Remember that episode where Red was talking to that woman who had a new life and family?  Was that supposed to be her, or just one of his old girlfriends?  Do you remember which one I mean?  This grand has always said she wants to be rich, so she wants to be an orthodontist.  lol  I think she's planning on going to the College of Charleston... that's the best medical college down here in SC.  She's only in the 7th grade, so she might change her mind.  lol  The oldest one says Clemson for sure!

cal... Are you busy painting today again?  I'd make those boys fix the walls... they're the ones who did it!!  lol  Sounds like you're going to have a busy week!  Does Polly like to paint?  Hope Soda's eye is better!

JP... So glad you feel better today!  Geez... May 4 is NEXT week already!!  Time sure does fly!

Nora... Chester sounds like such a nice dog!  I remember you had trouble with Sparky when you first got him, but he was a whole lot younger, wasn't he?

obsver... Have you ever had an egg slicer?  I got one last week for the first time in my life (my mom never had one either) and I think it's the coolest thing ever!!  lol

Gotta go put my mower away.  Have a nice evening!  Hi to all!

Henry got a good vet report. He probably can't bark because of the breathing tube they put in when they did surgery on cleaning his wounds, and inserting the drain.

Thanks for the update, willi!  I'm glad Henry got a good report at the vet!  Is not being able to bark a bad thing??   ;)

Hi cal!  Sounds like you had a productive day!  Hope your calf doesn't get too sore!  You need some little chihuahua dogs!!  Maybe tomorrow Soda's eye will be better.  Blacklist is on... always exciting!  See you tomorrow!  Got an email from the lady whose husband was sick... he died this morning.  She sent me his obit... he sure led an accomplished, important life. So sad.

This is Juliet.

I had a very quiet Sunday spending most of the day working on a large music project that I started some months back.  I am converting all my record and CD music to High Resolution format.

willi, great to hear of Henry's good report.  How long will he have the breathing tube?  That must be uncomfortable for him.

Let's all have a good Monday.

Daily Updates
Honey, Nature, Article - UPDATE April 25, 2016
25 April 2016
Print Email
Honey has something seriously wrong. No one is sure what. Her situation has not changed. She is not in pain, they say. We?re watching and inquiring, as are the vets. The vets and consultants weighed the risks and benefits of tranquilizing Bald Eagle
Bald Eagle
Honey today and opted to hold off for now. They are already treating her for everything they can imagine, including Lyme disease and inflammation. They doubt that blood work would reveal any condition they are not already treating her for. We?re waiting for answers to questions tomorrow and we are hoping for improvement.

We feel a sense of togetherness with all the wonderful support and concerned comments for Honey from so many of you over the last several days.

Thank you.

A Lily Fan sent me this link to an old article from 24 years ago about our beginnings http://www.nwf.org/News-and-Magazines/National-Wildlife/Animals/Archives/1992/He-s-Just-One-of-the-Bears.aspx.

The not yet trusting gull
The not yet trusting gull
Out the window at the WRI, redpolls are gone and the main birds at the feeders are purple finches and white-throated sparrows.

The trusting gull came a few times today. If I didn?t get up and give it what it came for, it flew over to my desk window and looked at me. Then I couldn?t help but get up. Seeing me get up, it flew back to the feeding spot. I?m trained.

The other gull came a couple times. The first time it had just landed when it took off with urgency. Then I saw what was happening. An eagle was flying in to land 85 feet away. I was surprised the gull reacted that strongly, but it could have been that the gull hurried because the eagle was on a flight path that would have intercepted the gull as it took its usual route away from here.

In the evening, visitors included a pair of mallards walking all over the yard among the deer that were eating the new grass. Nature gives solice, in a way.

Eli is here.

Thank you for all you do.

Cal, please don't send any of those storms my way! It's very humid here. We haven't had rain yet, but some is expected. Hope Soda's eye continues to get better. Willi, glad to hear about Henry--we were wondering. Ra, not familiar with an egg slicer. Is is something that slices boiled eggs, or eggs fixed a certain way? As you can tell, I'm clueless--won't be the first time!!  Gotta go give our minister's dog some exercise at the baseball park. She loves to chase tennis balls. bbl
