Darn, I'm getting tired of that relentless wind!!!!!! At least I don't live in a little sod hut out on the prairie back in the 1800's. I've read about the unending wind there. Boy, would I whine a lot!!  I have a huge big old tree out by the barn--I think several woodpeckers nest there--and for years, I've been afraid that it will blow down. Cal, I predict that Tim will like the money he got from his junk so much, he will take some more in. Several years ago, we took in a lot of fence posts, a dryer and stove to the local salvage place, and believe me, I liked the money from that!! Ra, guess I don't need to ask if you've been using the heated mattress pad! Rues, keep the snow shovel out. It could get really cold & snow again, nipping all the buds, like it did several years ago. Didn't have many lilacs that season. Jp, as someone who has back & neck problems, I have so much sympathy for you. Glad you are getting a little relief to sleep. Hi, nora, Dlong, bischue, johoward, neva, deb, chippy, pat and anyone else I may have missed. We're going to go in to the church hall for a carry-in soup & bread supper. We do that every Wed. during lent. We didn't go to Cosco yesterday. Tommorow morning, we're taking Mr. O's uncle & cousin to the airport, so we'll take our Sam's Club receipt and do a walk through price comparison then. Our Sam's membership expires in 5 days. We got 2 HUGE jars of dill pickles--it's much cheaper than the smaller jars in the store.

Obsver, I asked my sis today about Costco. She said before Costco came it was called Price Club.  She really liked to shop there. Then it merged with Costco. She said Cosco has more stuff and different brands. She wishes one would come here then she would give Sam's the boot! Lol!

Cal, the poll workers here are paid volunteers. Most of them have done the job for years. We vote in my old grade school's gym just down the street from our house. My brother, sisters, myself and Robin all went to that school. Robin's kindergarten teacher has been a poll worker there for years. We walk in and she sees us and has everything ready for us to vote. She told us the last time we voted that she thought she would quit after the next election. With the way things are now, even joking about throwing out someone's vote could get you into trouble! Sounds like Jim is really fixing up your Mom's trailer and making it a nice weekend retreat! Hope you can get some time to go there and relax! Did you get your kitchen on new time? Lol! Yay, Scout is back! Crow saw a TV circling our house this morning! I like all your names for Corey Dog, too! They make me hungry! Lol!

Jp, Crow had pain management shots in his back that worked for awhile. Glad you are able to get some rest at night.

Ra, good to see you! Congrats to the grand! Your grand's are so talented! Yep, Robin's car key dilemma is over! That key cost $250! We don't know how much the Subaru dealer charged the body shop for labor involved in syncing up the keys. Robin could have insisted on having the ignition and door locks changed but she decided against it. That would have cost over $1000!  It has been so windy today. Glad I have short hair! Lol! It's been warm here but not 80 yet! Cool down coming. I hate to hear that! I took Wilson home Sunday morning but he and Tela may be here this weekend. Robin and a lady she works with may go to Columbus for a work related visit. They thought they would stay overnight and see some of the "big city"!

Nora, I'm not familiar with Shopko or Alco. Are they warehouse stores like Sam's and Costco? I think we got that wind of yours!

Snow! - UPDATE March 16, 2016

Juliets Cubs on 3-19-12
Juliets Cubs on 3-19-12
Snow again, and some redpolls are back. The snow reminded me of Juliet nursing her cubs in the snow on April 16, 2012. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_lsPvzVFsqM.  The family, including Sybil, Sophie, and Sam, was flooded out of their den by meltwater during an unusually warm period in March similar to what we had the past few days this year. I remember Sophie and Sybil sleeping outside the den so soundly (picture) that I could roll them over to see what sex they were without them waking up. I wonder how vulnerable cubs are to predation when they are flooded out before they can fully walk. It?s likely that Sophie and Sybil have cubs themselves this year, and it?s possible they got flooded out with the recent warm period just like they did as cubs.

Thank you for all you do.

Happy St Patrick's Day! I've got on my green today so nobody can pinch me! And I'm waiting on a leprechaun to give me some good wishes. Maybe lead me the way to a pot of gold! Lol!

Cal, good message in today's puzzle. It took me quite a while to finish it though! Lol! Great pics in the update! Wish I could take pics like that. Gotta go check my jar of hamburger pickles, too, and see if there's any burger in there! lol!

Jp, hoping your pain eases today. Be sure to wear some green so the leprechauns can find you.

Blschue, it's so funny how things change and then go back the way they were. Like cell phones were big then they got smaller and smaller and now they are going big again! We have a bag of old cell phones in varying sizes. Crow and I just got new phones that are huge compared to our previous one. I still don't know all the stuff this phone can do. It is so much smarter than me! :D

Hi Jewelies!  In the 80's here again.  But, pretty.  Supposed to rain this weekend.  Maybe I'll get some rest!  lol  This morning I had an old guy come to my house and change the blade in my mower.  Thought it was good he would come here.  I used to do it myself, but one year I messed it up and it came loose.  Don't need to cut off my feet, so I learned a lesson.  I changed the oil, air filter and spark plug myself though.  Then, I cut the grass/weeds and a part broke off the mower!  I ordered a new part online...pretty pricey!!  Then, I went to Walmart and Lowes and got 20 bags of mulch.  Lots of work to do.

HAPPY ST. PATRICKS DAY, JEWELIES !! I have a patch of clover in my yard and found a FOUR LEAF CLOVER !  Yay... Good luck for me.  I hope...  Got my green on, too!

cal... Sounds like you and Polly had a busy day, too!  Glad your little Cocoa Puff got to run around the yard today!   :)  Wow, Jim has a lot of miles on his truck!  Mine is a 2013 and I have a little over 17,000 miles... it's even been to Florida and back!  lol  I bet he gets all the bells and whistles, too.  I hope all the wild bears are ok and no flooded dens.

blschue... NO DILL??  Surprised!  I noticed how nice and neat your camper pics were.  lol

rues... I wonder if your neighbor mowed her yard so the weeds didn't go to seed.  I thought of that today when I was mowing mostly weeds.   ;)

JP... Does sitting at the computer bother your back?  I hope it feels better today.  Seems like a lot of are having back issues around here...  My clock works fine...   ;)

obsver... Believe it or not... some nights I still turn on the heated mattress pad!  Feels good on the back.  Of course, I have the ceiling fan on, too.  lol  What did you think of Costco?  Your soup and bread supper sounds so good!!

Hi to everyone!

Hi Jewelies!  :)

I can't stay long because I've been working at the computer off and on for several hours while my corned beef and cabbage is cooking. My daughter and son-in-law are coming over for dinner. If I stay here much longer, I won't be able to get up!  :o

Sorry my greeting is late!

Foster dog, Bella is going to drive herself for a ride. She loves the car!! Sorry the pic isn't very good, the light was bad and it was taken on a phone.

This is how Mei Lun and Mei Huan spend their days now. They are so big!

Hi to JP, Cal, Rues, Ra, Obsver, Blschue, Nora, Neva, Deb, Eaglette, Pat, Chippy and all who visit here. Have a wonderful evening.

hi ra! i change my oil and filter in my mower too blade stuff jim does that. you been busy today. me and sister went to orscleins and i bought a huge bed for the dogs. that thing was heavy. put it on this little cart deal and going up aisle was knocking all kinds of stuff down.it had two tears in the bottom so sister asked if they would knock off the price. they did 5% it cost 90.00 so that helped. jim did not get that one truck. it did not even have a tow hitch on it. or running boards. he told them i would not be able to even get in the truck. so he is having one made for him with all stuff he wants.  lol ra your clock is good! you know your fastness drives jp crazy! at walmart i was walking in and this disable man was on that riding deal coming out and ask me if i wanted it. no thank you.

hi d! the meis lok like jim laying there eating! bella beautiful. did she get adopted yet?

you guys at 5:15 tonight i went in my room to check on my little girl scout cookie and he was falling down and crying out. i rushed to hold him and he was shaking. believe he had a little seizure. he was not shaking like scootie does but shaking and scared. now he is in the kitchen here on that new big bed. he was walking okay again. so i hope he did not have a stroke i dont think so think seizure and that would be better. will watch him and see if he has another before i do anything. calvin had a couple and then no more. pete will run a ton of test rack up the bill where as ed on scootie just started him on the phenobarb. at least my little milk shake wont need alot of it. like a half pill in the morning and night. i sure do hope he doesnt have epilepsy though. he loves this big ortro ped bed. i was so scared you guys.. love my little everything. sister leaving see you guys later.

Blschue, dill pickles with no dill??!!!

Rues, I want to say Shopkos are more like a K-Mart or something.

Those bear cubs were so young and adorable squirrel!

That cub of Jewell's from 2014 must be hitting the gangly stage  :D

JP I get so mixed up on days lately, I almost missed St. P's day myself.

RA when I had my rider I used to do the oil and stuff.  I wouldn't put the blades on though.  The part I really hated was when I'd have to put the belt on the deck for it.  In and out of some many spots.  I finally got it all done one time and had extra belt left and laid the instructions down and check my route.  Sure enough I'd forgotten to go around one of the pulleys.

Mei Lun and Mei Huan  :D  I don't know who is who, but the one is sure spread out on his back.  Bella is looking good D.

:'( I just couldn't post earlier today about Sparky after the vet visit this morning. We "lost" him today. Sorry this is so long. Everything seemed fine until into yesterday. He seemed a bit "off", but he had allergies and sometimes he got congested and he could get a little "urpy" with it. The way my head was yesterday I thought that's all it was. Last night he wouldn't touch his supper. We have a ball thing we put it in and when we sat down to eat supper I'd bring that in and he'd hop backwards ahead of me and sometimes turn a couple circles because he was so excited and sit and wait for it. Last night I brought it in and he lifted his head when he saw me set it down and just put his head back down. This morning he was still not acting right so thought I'd call the vet as soon as we went out for his morning constitutional and he peed bright red blood. I called while I still had him outside and took him over there. My favorite vet from this new group was there, he's only there Tuesdays and Thursdays. They switch around between the Cresco office and their Harmony office. We talked a lot and he said he'd give me a call when he knew something. It turned out it was autoimmune hemolytic anemia (IMHA). Because of that his spleen was also very enlarged. It usually will show up between two and six years of age. Sparky would have been five the end of August.

"The immune system in a dog is made up of a collection of specialized cells, proteins, tissues, and organs, which all constitute a solid defense system against a variety of infections, including bacterial, fungal, parasitic, and viral infections. Antibodies are proteins secreted by specific cells of the immune system, which bind to foreign substances, known as antigens, to destroy them. A diseased condition arises when the body?s immune system mistakenly starts recognizing its own red blood cells (RBCs) as antigens and initiates their destruction. In this process antibodies produced by the immune system bind to the RBCs and destroy them. The hemolysis (destruction) of red blood cells results in the release of hemoglobin, which can lead to jaundice, and further on to anemia when the body cannot produce enough new red blood cells to replace the ones being destroyed. This is why this disease is also known as immune-mediated hemolytic anemia, or IMHA."

Joe and I went to meet with the vet and we asked lots of questions. Sparky would have had to be on immunotherapy and blood transfusions. That would have meant either up at Rochester, MN or down at The College of Veterinary Medicine down in Ames, IA. I also asked about quality of life. He didn't feel he'd be a happy dog. Quality is important to us. Gonna miss that little critter a lot! Dr. Norman had to actually reach in the "kennel" that Sparky was in when we got there and lift him out and carry him out to us. THAT was not the usual bundle of energy.

Happy St. Patrick's Day a hair late!
