Kelley Williamson, storm chaser, was in Union, MO a while ago.  He had taken some curvy uphill road to cut over to there and there was a house with the water halfway to the eaves.  Sad.  He also had the McDonald's.  The water was only part way up the doors this noon and there were comments it had gone down some, but as steamed up as the windows were it definitely must have gotten inside.

Corey Dog sounds like one neat dog.  I love bays out of hounds  :D  Is he good with the cats?

Oh wow, at least the guy had a life preserver on while he sat on the roof.  Might have gone for a swim, but got his dog into the boat.    http://fox2now.com/2015/12/30/home-floats-down-meramec-river/   :(

I got snug in my RV in 4:30.  I can not figure out how anyone could do it in 2:11,  Their clock must not work right.

Cal, I'm so happy that Holly is happy in her forever home! She is a lucky bear. I heard on the news this morning that the hibernating bear that attacked the scout leader after the leader went into the cave will get live. I figured the bear would be punished for the man's mistake. Glad I was wrong on that one!  Jim is one of the good guy repairmen! Wish there were more like him! Computers are just plain weird!  Hope you can figure out what's wrong.  I think you might be right about Corey dog knowing his name because he is Corey! Terrible flooding in your state. What a horrible Dec this has been for so many folks.

Jp, I've eaten so much this entire month and I bet I've gained 5 pounds. I'd make a New Years resolution to lose weight but I know I'd never keep it! Do you ever make New Year resolutions?

Ra, no New Year plans for us! We are usually fast asleep by midnight! Robin is in NYC. We took her to our little rinky dink regional airport this morning. The little tiny plane left at 8:30 for Washington DC with 15 passengers! Then a connecting flight on Jet Blue to JFK in NYC! Our airport is so small that Silver Airways is the only plane that lands there and they only have 4 flights to and from DC every day! When she was planning her trip she just for kicks checked out our airport's schedule and found out that it was $45 cheaper to fly out here than if she went to Columbus, OH airport! That was a no brainer! It was really good news for us since we are her chauffeur!  :D

Making Crow some pigs in a blanket. He always wants them for New Years. Knowing him he will eat them all before tomorrow evening! Lol!

Hi Willi!

Hi Jewelies!  Just got home from cleaning the office, in time for our local tv station's special program about my Tigers.  Everybody's excited around here!!  lol

cal... I learned last weekend that you can also increase or decrease the size of your font by hitting ctrl and + or - key.  You don't have to use the shift to get the + though.  My daughter was showing my ex how to make the computer easier for him to read... remember he has macular degeneration and he had that stroke in his eye.  That page that you posted looked fine to me!  lol  Other than the print being small, that is.  It finally quit raining while I was working tonight!  Finally!  This morning it rained harder than I remember seeing in a very long time.  The pics from your state's flooding is heartbreaking.  Funny that Corey dog knows his name already and just fits right in your family!  lol

rues... That's so much easier for you to go to your little airport!!  Does Robin mind the littler planes?  They make me a little nervous.  :o  Pigs in a blanket sounds good... it's been ages since I had them!!  How do you make them?

JP... I was wondering about that fast puzzle time, too.  My time was a little over 3 minutes I think.

Nora... How's Joe?

Hi everyone!!  I'm waving... can you see me?   :D

cal... Yup, I can see you!!  lol

blschue... Going to AZ... sounds good!  If you go for the winter, will it interfere with your eye study?  I'm trying to think how fish oil tablets could maybe a placebo.  Don't fish oil tablets smell fishy?  Just wondering...  Sounds like they sure are complete with their tests!!  AHA!!  Now, we know one of your puzzle tricks!  lol  Haven't seen Chippy in ages...

Groups and Speakers - UPDATE December 30, 2015

Black Bear Box in classroom
Black Bear Box in classroom
With 2015 almost over, the NABC staff and others are working hard to prepare the center for an even better visitor experience. We are educating via the written word, videos, pictures, and of course our four Ambassador bears. We want to make the visitor experience both fun and educational. In keeping with our educational mission we will always open the Bear Center (with advance notice) for groups of 15 or more. We are more than happy to create a program tailored to the group's interest, just give us a call at the NABC and let us know what you have in mind.

Visitors watching the bears
Visitors watching the bears
Visiting the NABC to view our Ambassador bears, read the exhibits and watch the videos is the best way to learn about bears, but that may not always be possible. For events, groups and classrooms we can also come to you.

Exploring the Black Bear Box

We have speakers in a number of states, even countries, and we are happy to design a program specially for you. We also have Black Bear Boxes for classrooms K-12 that teachers can use in their classrooms, educating children through hands on learning. The Black Bear Boxes offer a wealth of information about black bears. More information can be found here: http://www.bear.org/website/black-bear-boxes/introduction.html with loans for grades Pre-K - 6: http://www.bear.org/website/black-bear-boxes/loans-for-grades-pre-k-6.html and grades 7-12: https://www.bear.org/website/black-bear-boxes/loans-for-grades-7-12a.html

We are looking forward to another exciting year with additional exhibits to open the 2016 summer season.

Thank you for all you do.

NABC/WRI staff

The WRI is working with the internet provider and Dr. Rogers should be back on line tomorrow.

Hi Jewelies!  :)

Well, Happy New Year's Eve to everyone! My son finally got my computer all fixed last week but I have been spending every available minute with the kids so have not been spending any time on the computer. I haven't been feeling the best either so I used up all my energy doing stuff with them and running around and when I got home I would just go to bed! The boys were supposed to leave here on Monday, but their flight was cancelled so they didn't leave until yesterday evening!

We went to see the new Star Wars movie. I liked it a lot except toward the end (Cal, you know what I mean).

I have been reading your posts (finally got all caught up). You have all been super busy too. Blschue I got a short email from Chippy the day after Christmas.

My son-in-law's grandparents live up north of Cal a ways; somewhere between Kidder & Hamilton, MO on a farm. So, this is where we were on Christmas day:

Please note the grass is still green! There was big excitement because there was a new seeder in the barn. Here it is:

This is what my porch looked like yesterday:

I finally got to go eat at the new Big Biscuit. It was really good. I thought the prices were a little high, but you get enough food for 2 meals! And I have to say, they have the best toast! Of course it helps that the toast has a HUGE amount of butter on it. This is the biscuits and gravy and my breakfast omelet with spinach is in the background:

I have missed the updates; I sure hope their internet connection gets fixed. Holly and Lucky are so funny to watch in the den. I still can't get over how active they are when I always thought that bears slept all winter long and never woke up until spring.

Here are Georgy Girl and Scarlett cuddling. They are not fans of the winter weather.

This is my daughter's foster dog, Bella on Christmas Eve. She is getting used to people and starting to put on a little weight:

Here are Mei Lun & Mei Huan earlier today. They are getting so big! But, still cute!

Here's a little video of Bei Bei and mom, Mei. For some reason Mei thinks Bei Bei can't get in or out of the tub without her so she helps. I think she wants him to spend more time in the den so she can relax & nap without worrying about what he is getting into. But, he has become pretty independent now and hard-headed too!

Bei Bei and mom napping together. So sweet.

Hi to JP, Cal, Blschue, Ra, Rues, Obsver, Pat, Willi, Neva, Chippy, Nora, Deb, Eaglette and all who visit here and anyone I forgot. You guys are the BEST! I will probably not be staying up late tonight. The kitties and I will have hot tea (me) and salmon treats (them) and go to bed by 11:00pm.  :)
