Hi All.  I'm copying my post from the Decorah Eagles 2015 thread here per request, for those who may be planning to attend the service tomorrow.  My apologies for any parts that are a duplicate of earlier posts here.

Also, you may notice the Decorah News online article (link shown below) said people may want to bring a chair/seat with them since there may be a large number in attendance.

Did everyone see Amy's new RRP Forum thread on the Decorah Eagles 2015 board?  It's a locked thread she started to provide info about Bob's Celebration of Life, and is titled just that -
"Bob's Celebration of Life"

Amy's/mrsfalcon's first post in that new informational thread is at:
http://www.raptorresource.org/forum/index.php/topic,2050.0.html

I hope anyone going to the service tomorrow sees the info there (and on the RRP FB page) about the shuttle service that will run from a mall parking lot to the Hatchery tomorrow, since parking at the hatchery will be so limited.

Also, the public RRP FB post that says: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Raptor-Resource-Project/103786266324668

If you are going to Bob's Celebration this Saturday, we have a shuttle bus running between Centrum Mall and the Trout Hatchery. Shuttle service will start at 11:30 and continue through 4:30. The Celebration will start at 1:00pm and go until 4pm. If you are attending (especially from out of town), please consider either taking the shuttle or carpooling, since parking at the hatchery is limited. I've attached a map so you know where to park. You can also follow the link for a Google Map:

You can read a little more about the Celebration here:
http://www.decorahnews.com/news-stories/2015/08/11501.html

Please excuse the Facebook team if we aren't as diligent about answering posts this weekend - everyone has done an amazing job, but they need some private time this weekend. Thanks so much.

THE BIGGEST FUNERAL EVER IN DECORAH?

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday afternoon In Decorah for Raptor Resource Project Director Bob Anderson, who died July 27th.
Because of the strong response from out-of-town residents, anywhere from 1,000 to 3,000 people may attend the event.  That has led to several changes in the plans.  Instead of a single program at 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Siewers Springs Park near the Trout Hatchery, there will be multiple programs throughout the afternoon?perhaps every hour.   People who are planning to attend are being asked to bring a chair as seating is limited.

Its happy to see though not surprising, that so many people are able to be in Decorah to attend Bob's Celebration of Life. I am not able to go, but will celebrate here in my home. This rivals any political or government persons remembrance and is far more meaningful an event for a far more wonderful man.

Can't imagine where at the hatchery this will take place if the estimate of 1 - 3 thousand people is close to true.

Mrsfalcon - Amy's memorial thread
This will be LIVE August 8, Saturday

Celebration of Bob's Life
RRP posted on Ustream, an 8 min video slides

http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/70328347

The slides video is  a lovely remembrance of http://www.raptorresource.org/forum/Smileys/default/embarrassed.gifob's life!
It took me a lot of coaxing to get that video to work - I took a couple snips from it.
Perusing raptorresource.blogspot.com  I noticed some pics were taken from there

Some of those photos were taken atop the GSB cliff along the Mississippi River in southern Minnesota.
Minnesnowta is where I grew up and I have water skiid in/on that river!
I think one pic was at one of the Xcel falcon nests atop a smoke stack - but I dunno which one.
Falcon chicks was so cute I snipt that pic. Next pic is juvie eagle and smilin Bob.   :-*
One slide looks a lot like Bob at the falcon box at the King or Blackdog Xcel plant, not labled tho.
I had to laugh seeing Bob doing dishes!   :o  :D
Be sure to periodicly STOP the video to read - ahahaha!

One family photo looks like it could have been taken at Minnehaha Falls, Minnesota.
They dont tell us who is who or where
Here is my photo of the falls - a popular family reunion park

Decorah eagles 2012

Thanks jf - I checked the decorah chatroom and it doesnt appear active.

The Travels of D1  the transmittered Decorah eaglet

http://iowapublicradio.org/post/meet-d1-decorah-eagle#stream/0

Tracking a female eaglet called D1
She hatched in 2011 to the Decorah pair

D1 impressed Bob Anderson with her attraction to rivers, her ability to make long flights, and her adventurous spirit. "She has spent time along at least a dozen different rivers, which underscores the importance of maintaining good water quality," said Bob.  She was expected to follow the Mississippi River and stay near Iowa or Illinois, but instead went on a 1,000 mile trek to northern Wisconsin and Minnesota before returning to her natal area in January 2011.

She made a 140-mile trip in a single day.  D1 flew to an area "closer to Greenland than to Iowa", Anderson noted. After her trip back to Decorah, D1 headed for Polar Bear Provincial Park, some 1,000 miles north of Iowa near the Arctic, on the shores of Hudson Bay in Ontario, Canada.

In December 2012, D1 returned for the second time to Decorah. She had spent the summer above the Arctic Circle, again.
By 2014, she had logged more than 2,000 miles after making two trips to Hudson Bay

2014  -  D1 spent 3 months above the Arctic Circle and came home to Decorah, perched in a tree overlooking the river.

Bob's village family

The 3 pics sparky10 posted from the memorial service are beautiful!  Here is one.  Thank you for those 3 beautiful pics sparky!  I am going to post it on the memorial page for Bob which I started for Bob's village family
http://www.raptorresource.org/forum/index.php/topic,2049.0.html

Posted by sparky10
Pics of the attendees.  I'm guessing at how many people there were.  I counted 160 seats under the canopies.  there were maybe another 100 in their own chairs, standing, sitting by their bicycles, or milling about.  So betweem 250-300 folks.

CONGRATULATIONS Mr. GSB!
New RRP Director John Howe
I figured you'd be taking over for Bob.
The GSB falcon cam on the bluff was Bob's pride and joy.
Here is their webcam and webpage

http://www.ustream.tv/greatspiritblufffalcons

I read the lovely and nostalgic memorial of Bob by his family dated Aug 7
http://raptorresource.blogspot.com/2015/08/our-brother-bob-anderson.html

I grew up in Minnesota!
I know all those spots they talk about!  I may well have met Bob - but with a name as common as Anderson it jogs no memories.  His family really took me into those spots in my imagination.  Very well written!  I never knew Bob personally.  I wonder if Mr GSB the falcon cam man will quit his job and take over where Bob left off.
