GG, I do remember this story - a true love story.  I'm so glad this dog found his forever friend.

Jf, now I'm wondering how long the infant and teenage phases are for the mayfly.

Faith...at least the Mayfly doesn't have to wait long for their kids to grow up and leave the house do they now???  ;)

Adult mayflies only live 1 day and can be as short as 1-2 hours.

And yet we continue to have new mayflies being born.

Loosely animal related:  A great and perhaps lesser known Beatle's song  originally titled "Hey Bullfrog" was changed to "Hey Bulldog" by Lennon after McCartney started barking during the recording!
