Boulder photographer Dana Bove captured images of a breeding pair of bald eagles in their nest near Stearns Lake in Boulder County. The eagles are the focus of a lawsuit filed Wednesday against the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the Department of Interior asking a federal judge to block a permit issued last week to allow new housing to be built north of Flatiron Crossing mall in Broomfield.

In the background are the beginnings of a structure used to contain noise from oil and gas operations that were permitted 50 to 60 meters from wildlife habitat just north of Colorado 52 near Weld County Road 5.
