Boulder photographer Dana Bove captured images of a breeding pair of bald eagles in their nest near Stearns Lake in Boulder County. The eagles are the focus of a lawsuit filed Wednesday against the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the Department of Interior asking a federal judge to block a permit issued last week to allow new housing to be built north of Flatiron Crossing mall in Broomfield.

Quote: "In his research, Bove said he has found that there are 10 times fewer nesting bald eagles in Colorado than in coastal states. He said there have been no new successful bald eagle nests in Boulder County or western Weld County since 2014, which he believes shows that habitat loss is rampant."
