KB   We were in the beautiful 60s today and partly sunny.  Nice breeze.

BL  Didn't notice it at the time but funny thing - I had our exterior windows scheduled for today  LOL  So lucky.  The guy said he has done one other house in our town so far - Quite a mess.  Then I noticed the tops of our garbage cans were filthy.  But saw nothing like the videos you see on TV.

Chicago's first-ever dust storm was caused by strong winds from a cluster of thunderstorms in central Illinois. These winds, reaching speeds of 60 to 70 mph, swept over parched farmlands, picking up dust and carrying it north towards the Chicago area. The resulting dust storm reduced visibility to less than a quarter of a mile and caused the National Weather Service to issue a dust storm warning for the city for the first time.

OLDGUY   That Maine Coon grooming was really good - she was an expert.   Santi sure has a lot of cats!

BAZI   The two children reading was the b-day gift  ;D   LOLOL on the "solved" puzzle  ;D

LORI   thanks Lori for the more detailed post to Amy   I wonder if they are banding!!

PHYL  Good news on the quick install date.  My dishwasher is now in its 17 year...New to this house. :o  But it only runs about 2-3 times a week....Sweet little Maggie  :-* :-*

Good Morning Beakers!

Phyl, lovely picture this morning!  Beautiful and eerie fog in the 365! A earlier post for you below!

Lani, sweet sleeping Bengal kitty... Thanks for the Bear updates, glad to hear that Lily and her four yearlings are doing fine. There have been issues with pictures in the forum for a couple of weeks, at least on my end. I preview and they are GIANT, but if I play around with them. I can get them to the right size. Doesn't happen every tome, but often. Our oak tree has finally finished its Spring gifting. We get this brown stringy stuff all over! The Maple in back has given us 10 million helicopters! My transplanted hostas in the front flower bed look kind of sad after the windy 2 days, I hope they spring back. I have replacements if they don't!

oldguy, thanks for the Herb Alpert, my Dad loved their music! Brought back memories... Thank you for all the entertainment, love the cat voiceovers!

karen, I bet you and Mickey are doing a whirlwind of things! I bet Piper takes to her very well! Give us a quick update whenever you can!

Paulie, prayers for Charlie, glad to hear he is feeling better!

tsk, wow, a dust storm in Chicago! Lots of news about it! I remember sand storms in Arizona, the sand would come through the screens on the windows... According to Google, they are also called dust storms or haboobs. Lots of pics of Chicago online. It has been very windy here for the last 2 days, but it seems a lot calmer this morning. A cold front coming through tomorrow, with rain that we need! Tim fell, I hope it was only because of uneven ground and doing something he probably shouldn't have...  ::)

BL, thanks for all the short videos, love the dog and the kitten, so sweet! Tom Selleck on Magnum PI was the only man I ever saw in short shorts, and they did him no harm!  ::) ::)

Lisa, it would be interesting to know what happened to the forum, but we may never know! Glad your storm wasn't too bad. We are expecting rain and cool weather starting tomorrow, but so far no mention of storms. The wind has been ferocious for the last two days. Much calmer this morning!

Phyl, sorry to hear your dishwasher croaked! We have had to replace ours once since we moved in here. Of course, now that we have a home warranty policy nothing is going to go down! LOVE those youtube short videos, I can't stop watching them! Thanks! Love that picture of sweet Maggie! And reallu cute pic of the cats with all the china bowls on her head!

baz, love that horse puzzle!

Lori, good to see you, you always drop in with such wonderful goodies! And you remembered Maxie's birthday! I think of her whenever Zippo is mentioned!

Hawk and Owl Trust - This week the Norwich Peregrine Watchpoint will be open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 10-4!
We look forward to another week of watching the Peregrine chicks grow and chatting to the public about these fascinating falcons.

PHYL  Good news on the quick install date.  My dishwasher is now in its 17 year...New to this house. :o  But it only runs about 2-3 times a week....Sweet little Maggie  :-* :-*

Backup and then second opinion tsk  - Twice, maybe 3 times a week, on using the dishwasher.  I do do scraping and rinsing before, holding in dishwasher though.  Couldn't even say how old machine is - a least 10  years.

But I spent time outside yesterday = blow around and chilled.  Today is to be about the same.  :-\  I have some projects and plantings I can do in the garage in the way of prepping flowers and bulbs for planters.  Oh yeh - and then there's the thousands of branches to clean up off grass, drive, patio.  Oh my aching back.  Forecast says 66 today so I'm assuming low 70's here by me.  BUT The wind is still up to 20 mph with promised (?) gusts.  Rain then for a couple days???  I like  60's and 70's for outside projects, don't even mind rain to help grow.  Yeah, 70's are nice.  Especially since sprinkler guy hasn't opened and checked system out yet.

BTW  Nest in hanging at the front door was down twice on Saturday.  Since tall enough person was helping/install flood light for flag, when done I asked if he'd unwrap the flag twisted ala wind. Then, please lift down the hanging - Easter motif - too high for me safely.  Anyway, he looked in at the top of the wreath - Lordy, lordy - baby birds!!!  I'd been watching finch parents before hatching and feeding.  Little ones stayed in hanging, parents perched on nearby crimson maple branch.  Finches.  Second crew is still tiny, but because of down color and noisy robins - I'm going to say it's now a robin nest.  When Don showed me - Put it Back!!!

However, another unexpected worker (window washer) came to front door.  I  had opened garage door with extra house opener since he would be outside only - told him I'd be using that - he said OK and closed the door and moved over to the garage.  After closing the front door a bit too strong - I now had the wreath/nest on the front entry way cement.   :-[   Eeek!  Martin hung it back up, apologizing profusely; no one fell out.  I'm supposing first fella didn't have it hooked completely or securely.  Putting up warning paper at front doorbell CAUTION - BABY BIRDS AND Forewarning and keeping door locked until coast is clear.

Love my light on the flag --- years to finally giving it its honor.  Next day --- Couple across the street, Adam and Kelly, only 2 1/2 years, have now put a flag up, the next day, not lit though, yet.  But mine has been there for 50 years.  My Dad & Mom always had a flag.  Dad always had a flag.  Because it's always up even at night, I have retired 3 flags.  This is the fourth - about 2 years old - and now getting its honored light.  Here's something I found out 2 years ago.  I knew to take flag to Ace Hardware because they do the honorable treatment on a deserving "used" flag.  But I found out two years ago that the local VFW members will supply and mount new flags for those needing assistance.  Smooth operation.  Suppose to be a service of all VFW's and there's another group, too.  Anyone know other groups?

P
