I would hold off on posting anything of substance or importance in the Beak Room until this Gremlin can be Exorcised !   :o  ::)

Amy is very busy banding falcons right now so I don't think that she can do much about the problem presently .. that is if she can figure what the glitch is to begin with .. one more headache for her.   :(

~ EDIT TO ADD ~

Well I guess this post "flipped the Beak page" to 230 and it's here .. so .. heck I don't know ?   ???

Everyone re-post what you posted on Page 229 if you want to ....  ::)

Thanx... Patience, young grasshopper. I was unable to go back to page 229. Rats.  I keep thinking it has something to do with my files... Because others are able to post pics. IDK

My post from this morning....

Good Morning Beakers!

Phyl, love the squirrel getting a peanut out of his stash! I remember Cathy and I washing dishes, back when we were in grade school! So Mom had dishwashers back in the 50s and 60s! We would take turns, one would wash in one sink, then place the clean dishes in the rinse sink. The other would put the dishes in the drainer and dry and put them away. Good and peaceful 365!

Lani, Aly and Dewey arrived home safely, thanks for letting us know...  What sweet pals in your goodnight picture! I have plenty of 'wild' hostas I can replant if needed. I also have loads of Rose of Sharon plants that came up around the bushes last year, and they survived the winter. I need to transplant some of those too! I don't know what is going on with pictures. Can't choose 'copy image link' on the small picture now, have to go to the big picture. My Mom doesn't use her dishwasher now that it's just her, but we all use it when we are there! I run mine a couple of times a week, there are some things I don't put in the dishwasher, like Tupperware. Yes, only two chicks left at Norwich. One egg didn't hatch and one chick died. The remaining two look very healthy!

kb, Nellie looks good, I know that you know all of this, but I thought it was a pretty simple explanation: Start the car and drive it for 15 or 20 minutes to warm it up. This will help keep cooling, lubrication, and fuel system parts in shape, charge the battery, and prevent flat spots from forming on the tires. Use the brakes frequently to remove any rust that has formed on the brake rotors. Make a schedule and stick to it. That way, your car won’t sit for too long.

tsk, hope Tim is feeling better and better, he is anxious to get going on the yard and garden! Mom is on blood thinners, skin is very fragile. It rained here last night, supposed to rain all day and into the night. 54 right now, 65 for the high. Highs in the 60sfor several days except Wednesday, high 56! Bishop Nirvana, I love the names you give to the very religious dogs!

Lisa, I remember the first year I watched the Decorah cam, there was a storm and the wind was wicked! The nest tree was swaying and the three eaglets huddled together! Then Mom arrived to make sure the kids were okay!  I sat on the edge of my chair for the whole 6 or so minutes it lasted, the wind sounds so scary on the cam!  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bqZO9g6l5aY

Early yesterday morning, CDFW received a call about a bear cub tangled in a soccer net at a Kings Beach park. When our team arrived, they found the cub stuck—closely guarded by a very protective mama bear. With some careful teamwork to loosen the net and make sure the mama bear gave them safe space they needed to work, Wildlife Officers and Biologists safely freed the cub in just over 5 minutes. The little one darted up a nearby tree, and after a quick reunion, both bears wandered peacefully back into the wild. Big thanks to our partners at California State Parks who helped CDFW ensure this was a calm and coordinated response.

Will do on the pics BL....btw we got an offer of 5,000 cash for her without seeing her....at Chris' barber who he has been going to for 17 years had a mechanic waiting for a cut, who heard the whole story and history of her..mileage, condition, no rust etc..even heard the 'stalling issue. I believe he was serious.

It's going to rain in the next 1/2 hour and then later for 2 1/2 days.....Now I don't want to drive her till it ends as I pulled her in the garage without even experiencing her all clean and shiny yet!.. :D :D :D

Pics will have to wait, but will do.

Got the decks cleaned and finished before the rain heads in...42 degrees and using outside cold water :) :)

ding ding ding....of course Edith and Archie!..  you win a .0001 percent discount on her off of mechanic's offer, :D

Trying this again, argggg......is this what you did Clynn?..copy and paste?

Maybe we should all start posting in the 2025 Puzzles for the Cam Addicts thread as it's totally empty anyway ?   LOL .. sort of.

A Forum Admin could later go back into the Puzzles thread and copy/ move / paste all of the posts back into the Beak Room after the Beak Gremlin is killed.

Then delete all of the "Beak" posts from the "Puzzle" thread ??

I surely don't want to create any more headaches and work for Amy, so I really don't know if my Idea above is a good idea.

but who knows what happens when we flip the Page to 231.

Royal Albatross ~ Dad RLK Returns To Give Second Feeding To SSTrig At Sunset! 💕💕 5.14.25

SSTrig hit the jackpot with three feedings from Mom & Dad! RLK returned for a second time late in the afternoon and gave his chick one more feeding for the day! These three feedings should help increase SSTrig's weight! ♥ RLK gives a pretty long feeding this time and when he is finished, he rests on the grass visiting with his chick. SSTrig was happy and content and started right in with gardening on her play nest. Thank you for watching! Lady Hawk

Posted May 8th by Dr. Eric Greene on Montana Osprey Cam FB

Hi everyone,
Sorry for the radio silence - I have been travelling and busy.  At the start of the season, we cautioned you to buckle your seatbelts for the Hellgate Soap Opera!  And our cautionary warning was warranted - there has certainly been a lot going on.
Finnegan did not return, and alas, we suspect that he might have died over the winter.   :'(  He could have gone somewhere else, but with such a successful breeding season last year, if he was still alive he would have most likely returned to the Hellgate nest.
Louis visited Iris and mated repeatedly with her, and she laid three eggs (April 29,  May 1 and May 4).  Iris' behavior is very interesting:  without a dedicated mate, she has not been super attentive to her eggs.  We suspect that from previous experience, she knows that without a partner bringing her food and helping to share incubation with her, the eggs won't survive.  So she has been flying off leaving them unguarded.
The astounding thing to us is that the half life of an untended osprey egg is measured in seconds or minutes!!  Almost as soon as Iris leaves an egg untended, a raven swoops in and flies off with the egg.  This demonstrates the need for the eggs and small chicks to be tended 24/7, and without a bonded pair bringing up young is not possible.
But a few days ago, NEW GUY 2 showed up, and Iris seems to be pairing with him!  He has been bringing in fish and driving off Louis.  This is exactly what happened last year, and so Iris may lay some more eggs.  Stay tuned . . . .
I have posted a timeline that summarizes events from the 2024 breeding season (on the bottom half), and the 2025 events so far.
More later!
Think pure thoughts, Erick Greene and the Montana Osprey Team

Posted May 15th Montana Osprey Cam FB

Hi everyone,
Many of you are asking great question!
Since Iris and New Guy 2 seemed to pair up - sort of - will Iris lay another egg?  Is Iris fertile? Does mating stimulate fertility? How long after they stop mating does Iris stop being fertile? If mating /not mating affect fertility, then what does? Is there a set time length during which they are fertile?
Drum roll please - here is the absolutely, authoritative, definitive answer.  We have no idea!  We don't know how old age affects fertility in ospreys.  Iris' reproductive physiology may have shut down after her third egg was eaten by a raven.  Also, New Guy 2 is not exactly a mating machine, and so this may not stimulate Iris to lay more eggs.
Iris has been spending a lot of time away from her nest, and this may indicate that she has closed up her reproductive shop for the season.  I suspect that we will know for sure within the next week.
Best, The Montana Osprey Team

A little investigation on the forum issue...
In profiles, we can set the number of messages per page - choice of 5,10, 15(default), 25.  By changing to each of these settings, I determined that the last viewable post before error today was KB this morning at 9:50:37 post # 809247.  The first viewable post after the error was Lisa at 11:21:57 post # 809264.  That means that error occurred during  that 1 hour and 31 minutes.  Post numbers are sequential for the entire site, not by forum.  This info may or may not be helpful to find the issue.

42 degrees  BRRR.  Furnace running to take the chill off.  We have had only 1/4" of rain all month and it is our rainiest month!  We are down over 4" for the year so far.  Hopefully will get that all day rain tomorrow.

PUFF  Nice to have people you can rely on every year.

KB   Nellie does look like brand new!!

LANI    Awww  What a sweet pair cozying up for a nap  :)

CLYNN  My pic from this AM didn't  come along with my text like yours did .   Today Tim roto-tilled his little garden space, filled the bird/ suet feeders and that was about it.  Baby steps.  Don't think he will get to plant for a couple days. - 100% rain chance starting tonight through tomorrow.   That video brings back so many memories.  We were such newbies then!  CSFW  WOW  what a project esp with Mama right there.  Great outcome.

KB   That baby and shepherd will be great pals one day.  ;D

LANI   SST will make some good gains with that 3 feeding day  LOL   Thanks for posting Dr Greene's report .  Another rough year for Iris.   " NG is not exactly a mating machine"  LOLOL

OG    You and Lisa are now "newbies" :o :o :o

This fine chilly evening finds us just chilling out by the outer campfire ring.

These oak wedges backpacked in are now perfectly seasoned.
A popping & crackling from under that spruce tree's umbrella like good May logs should.

I landed a 12.2 lb (Boga Grip weighed) Large Mouth Bass shore fishing out of a 'local' lake we know of earlier.

50° F > Winds gusting to 30 MPH > white puffy bluebird sky > low pressure > fleece and shell on.

ROTFLOL    :)

It may be more fun reading the Beak Room here now.   :-*
