Good Afternoon Beakers

karen - Glad to hear Piper seems better.  Hope she is still doing good today.

kb - When you're over 40 and the movie starts  ;D  ;D ;D

baz - All good tunes, and loved the BEST!

Lani - Glad to hear you are feeling better.  Aww, poor Iris!  Thanks for the Royal update.

clynn - Thanks for clarifying the two different kind of Zinnia's. Thanks for reminder about meteor shower, too.

tsk - Pretty flower on your morning greeting.  How is Tim feeling?

tig - I do that too with certain items, and then they expire before I use them.  Need to get out of that habit. Beautiful flowers.

paulie, oldguy, Phyl and BL - Afternoon  :)

LISA  Thanks for that info on HM and new ? HF    I didn't realize they had started that nest last year.   All my favorite things in your afternoon post  ;D    Tim managing

LANI   Thanks for the Royal parent update - We remember Manaaki and Lilibit  ;D

PAULIE   I asked about the frig as we had a lesson learned as well when we had a fully stocked freezer at our place in Door county and lost everything.  Got in the unit and it just reeked - All windows opened and it took a look while.  Never again!

TIG  You fence in the tulips from the squirrels?  That's why I can't grow them.

KB   You've got to be kidding me with those parrots  LOL

BL  Thanks for posting Paulie's pics from the  Cheers thread.  Love that front porch!

Excitement at Hellgate today.
Louis is attacked and thrown off the nest 2025 05 05 21 51 33 545

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X9AhAFQW_hA

FB chatters says Louis doesn't return after that attack. Also, This is the same male intruder that has been trying to land on the nest. Iris has refused him.
Now, everyone is thinking it's Finn!!!  :o

Male intruder attacks Louis and throws him off the nest!  :o

New Male flying over Iris, he's determined to have this nest and Iris. Bring her fish!!!

Clynn, beautiful green Monday pics! Lots going on at Hellgate today. Everyone has been wondering if the male intruder that has been there for a few days is Finn. I just posted a pic where he attacked Louis and threw him off the nest... Louis has not returned to the nest... Your Ruth Buzzi is Lily Tomlin.. I love both! We loved Laugh-In and the original SNL cast... the girls loved Church Lady, especially Shannon.  ;D ... we have cloudy skies and maybe rain later tonight or early morning. No watching Halley's Comet tonight.

Tsk, 8 months of researching, writing, telephone, zoom meetings.... glad it's over..... I can't imagine how awful it was to lose all that food in your Door County freezer.

Lisa, it's sad about HM, thanks for providing more information to Puff about HD and his new lady. I wish the eagles were banded. The new female could be a Decorah born eagle.... love your morning pic, very serene.

Tig, very lucky you were only sick for a day and not longer.... eww Avocado dressing to clean up.  :-X ..... That was the most terrible stomach pain I've ever had... Since getting sick I decided to check the dates of canned goods and jars in our pantry. I guess I should throw them away... gorgeous tulips. Don't you wish they would stay like that all summer.

Paulie, too bad you lost your refrig/freezer food... we love sleeping through storms too. When we lived in Kansas the rolling thunderstorms brought out the kid in Mike. He would go on the front porch and sit there for hours watching the storm.

BL, thanks for posting Paulie's cabin pics... it's beautiful and the perfect size for two and retirement!

Kb, yep, the parrots are living their best life! LOL!

Good Morning Beakers!

tsk, thank you, I will have a special day! I have mail from my Mother and I know my flower spending money is inside! Ed promised to take me to the Goode's Greenhouse today!

Lani, I always got Ruth Buzzi and Lily Tomlin mixed up! Both were so funny! Oh how I hope Finn has arrived! I am happy for you that you can rest from all the work you have done for your non-profit! Does that mean you are officially retired?  ;D  I also wish the RRP eagles were banded, it would be comforting to know if any of the kids are now nesting around there... Those pics of the royal babies, I am always amazed at how pure white they are, they look like cotton balls!

kb, oh those parrots!

Lisa, another pretty cuppa! And off I go to the greenhouse today! I am going to get Vincas for around the mailbox and some Zinnias for the short fence side, it gets more sun. And of course, Impatiens for the front!

BL, I had never ever heard of a Derecho until we had that bad one that went through in August of 2020! Now we hear it way more often!  There have been a couple more around here but not nearly as bad as that one.

Paulie, I love your cabin, it looks so cozy!  It looks like heaven! How far is it from your house"

tig, your tulips are very pretty, too bad you have to fence them in!

Norwich Cathedral - It was a busy bank holiday weekend for our resident peregrine falcons with three chicks hatching on the spire over the weekend!
Here’s the latest picture from our friends at Hawk and Owl Trust showing the three chicks being fed.

Lori, How nice of you to remember CLYNN favorite cake and posted for her mother is  not in town to make it this year. I wonder if she got one when she was visiting in April.  Hope all is well with you destiny and the family

I am waiting today or tomorrow for the fence in back to be replaced. It’s always a problem as I cannot walk Piper on a leash she pulls and I am unsteady so I’m hoping they’ll start early in the morning and finish before the day is true this is only half of the back fence the other people I don’t believe are going to replace the fence and since it’s their fence I can’t do anything about it. I’ve talked to them and they said it would be done in February Or march and here we are in May nothing.  They received insurance money to repair the fence during the hurricane two years ago and spent the money on something else.
.
Iris. Forget about Louis and welcome finn  with open wings. . rYou are a wise old bird, so you should know this is the right thing to do.  Lani, thank you for the update
I am convinced that the eagle in the creek that died was HM one I am hopeful that HDNHM2 will bond over the rest of the summer and through the winter, and present us with a nest full of eaglets In the spring, they seem to be going strong at this point, and I am happy for him to have a new mate.
I’ve been busy with little chores since 7 AM and going to sign off and relax with another cup of coffee and wait for the help to come before doing anything more. I need to vacuum the screen porch I was hoping to test could come and help clean there, but I’ll have to do with myself lol happy birthday to. Clynn!

Lori, thank you for the delicious strawberry cake and the birthday wishes! You never disappoint!

tig, thank you! Good luck at your appointments!

Lani, thank you! Beautiful card!

karen, we were too busy with the wet floors and the 3 curio cabinets full of tea cups, doctor appointment, dinner at my cousins etc.  so Mom promised me she would make my birthday cake when we are there in July! You could have a new fence right next to their crappy fence!
