Good Morning Beakers

tsk - Mmm, love lemon cake.  I am sure everyone will enjoy it. I think I forgot to tell you, Bradley's surgery on his knee is scheduled for May 7th at 11:30am. I bet that lilac does smell good in your yard.

Lani - Oh my, another Louis egg?   Thank you, and Jeff is good.  Hope all is well with you and Mike.  Is Aly coming soon?

Puff - Not harsh at all on Mr T, but he did come this morning and take the fish that Mrs T was feeding earlier to TE3.  >:(

clynn - Thank you, feeling much better!  TE3 looks good.  Happy Retirement to Ed!!!!

karen, kb, tig, oldguy and all - Morning  :)

Puff - how is your Crimson King Norway Maple fairing this year?....
I know different temperatures this winter than mine but.....

Mine is awfully slow to leaf out this year. I compared pics from a few years back. By now last year it was leafed out. Year before not quite so much.

I do compare mine to the much older one 3 doors north and hers looks about the same as mine.

Maybe we haven't had enough sun this year. She's just only now starting....we did have an awfully cold winter with some warm up changes then cold again....Lots of clouds this spring, so hopefully she'll produce well. Mine is now 20 years old....I read they live to be 250!

Not too worried yet.. :)

Another fan of the crimson maple commented on it last week KB - an electrician.  And it didn't even have leaves yet.  This week though the seed coverings burst open and fell all over Stevens Street. Darien.  Things were covered with yellow seed skins - driveway, sidewalks, neighbors sons's car.   Michael does not like the tree - especially in the fall when the shedding is of giant leaves.  Also had a friend out from Morton's Arboretum - he's going to plant some things for me in the yard, but he took time to tell me what a "regal" body my tree had.   And here I was worried about damage left by last year's cicada.

TIG   Sounded like a good lunch break!

PUFF  You are lucky to have a good contact at the Arboretum.  ;D

Brought lots of leftover sandwiches and pasta salad home for Tim.  So no cooking for me.  Just reheating some meatloaf.  LOL

Good Evening Beakers

All of the big storms missed us this past week - most days it was a total miss and some days .1 inch or less - Thursday we actually got just over an inch, but not even much lighting.

Got some weed control done on the lawn this week and filled in the former tree hole with dirt and seeded.  Still have some landscaping to do this spring - hoping to get some help this month on that.

Has any announcements been made on ATF this summer - I was thinking that reservations were usually due by now?

Clynn, beautiful Lilies of the Valley pics this morning... I can wash 8 patio doors and entry, but the windows are too high on the outside, need a 12 - 16 ft ladder, and I can do the inside. This year I'm going to hire someone to do the outside window panes... Ed will love the Banana Oatmeal cookies. I hope he's having a great last work week.... God Bless T3 he has a fantastic mom.

Congratulations Ed on your retirement! Enjoy your new journey!  8)

Tsk, I love the smell of Lilac.... I remember seeing Shamwow commercials years ago. I didn't realize the product was still available.... I'm going to use them on our shower too.

Puff, I'm finding my limits on doing things I could do in a flash. Climbing a ladder was no big deal, now I'm a little shaky on our 10 ft ladder.

Lisa, prayers for Bradley and surgery.... Glad Jeff is well.... Aly will be here Tuesday maybe.... oh Mr T!  >:( .. I hope Mrs T was able to feed T3 today. I saw Clynn's pic that a nice crop on baby.

Kb, The Maples trees around here have been slow to bloom. We're just now seeing buds on them...

Tig, delicious looking lunch.

Oldguy, thanks for the videos. I'll watch my posts... I've been trying to keep up with Kilauea.

{{{SED Karen and Piper, }}} I hope you and Piper had a good day.  :)

{{{SED Phyl, Jim amd Miss Maggie}}} I hope all is well.  :)

Good morning, Bakers/ beakers! Here we are in the Merry month of May with lots of things going on the convocation on May 7 is being held on my father‘s heavenly birthday. I’m sure his general ways and care for people will help guide the Cardinals in their decision on a new pope.
I am certainly up way too early today and piper who got up with me and sound asleep again, maybe we’ll have nap time later
Old guy it’s good to see you posting and I hope you’re doing OK. I wonder about cards hook up to your Easter dinner this year and all those things you usually do anyway good to see you.

Watching the birds this year is very interesting. All the frustrated not too different from a lot of human problems with people, but I do wish Mr. tea would stay away from the nest and stop stealing food. He should be bringing it.  Hopefully little T3 will continue to thrive and hopefully Iris will find another maid that would control Louis oh my I wonder what happened to Finn it could be any problem and I don’t think he Deliberately stayed away, but could have faced many problems in returning, including bird flu.  She is one tough lady
Best I wonder what your sister decided to call the kitty honey bun is good but I also kind of like Maybelline. Or even the ever hateful ginger!
Lani I’m excited to hear Allie will be there Tuesday it’ll be a nice break for all of you. It’s been a while since I have been frustrated by not being able to do a lot of things and one of the big things that bothers me is not being able to drive, and also not being able to do yardwork and piddle around with a few potted plants, but the rest of the stuff has to be hired out ! I am not complaining as it does no good and I am happy to be on this side of the side and able to still do things or at least get things done as need be all of a sudden I am, however way behind
Yesterday was spent doing when I consider little stuff but I think accomplish something at I did walk around the yard so my back is feeling better and talk with the yard man about what needs to be done, and it will be months before things begin to look decent I had to call the tree man back as we have decided not to grind three Pine stump stone as they may damage the azaleas but looking at the scene yesterday made me realize they need to be ground down and if the azaleas died, something else needs to be put there I am now on his schedule to get that accomplished. I have ordered trees for the backyard. I need to add a few bushes to that as I had a very large azalea removed and now I’m able to see the gas tank for the generator needs to be screened. I also noted there’s a lot of wild Virginia creeper around one of my Live Oak trees, and I do not think grass will ever grow under the tree, so I need to order some if you had a jazzmin for ground cover.  Also scheduled to get that foot down and then wait for it to grow. I wish I had my little house in Fairhope back at the yard was very manageable. This yard is almost too big. I did get to lemon tree‘s planted yesterday and some containers on the patio and they will look nice. Grass seed has been put down in the back and the sprinkler system comes on every day at 4 AM.. It looks like there is some rain in the future, which will be good to settle things in.   Went to the car dealer yesterday and got batteries for the car key fobs and was pleased to know there’s no charge for this. I have yet to make an appointment for an oil change. I do not think there’s anything wrong with the car and I’m not sure it needs new oil, but it doesn’t hurt to do it..  Filled up with gas yesterday and decided it’s one of the cheapest things you can buy today.
I think the shots in my arms are working and I am very happy about that. I’m not running any races. That’s a pain in my back and down. My left leg is gone and I think it went faster than there today estimate for taking affect. That’s great news for me as I hate those shots in my back. We’ll see how long this lasts.
Hope everyone has a good day today and that +’s Monday morning bringing him new opportunities for the eight hours. He had been spending with Wells Fargo. I’m sure he has plans for some fun things to do.
Phyl, You have not mentioned how are you and Jim are doing I hope well or at least better.
Lori, Happy May Day to you and many thanks for all your posts for special occasions. Hope your family as well.
Waving to all  And wishing everyone a good day

Good Morning Beakers! CATURDAY!

karen, sounds like you have been busy! And so will Ed when he sees his Honey-Do list! Erin's came for pizza last night to celebrate Ed's retirement. I noticed that he got the thing out that he has used to start the lawn mower (because he forgets to get a new battery) and I didn't even have to remind him that the lawn needs mowed!  The Lily of the Valley fragrance is in the air! Glad to hear the arm shots are working, hope they last a good while!

Lani, you have 8 patio doors? Wow! I use the Nano cloths with water to clean the inside windows, it does a wonderful job!  Since Ed is the only employee at this site they had a big zoom meeting Thursday and played some games online. Weird! But he knows and has worked with many, many groups at the West Des Moines site so several of them caught him yesterday when he went in to turn in his laptop. Also, lots of congrats on FB (even some Beakers!)! Erin posted about his Dad's retirement! His retirement gift will come in the mail. Aly will be home this week! So happy for you and Mike! How is Shannon doing in Ls Vegas? Beautiful saguaro cactus at sunset...

baz, thanks for the congrats to Ed!

oldguy, I will be clicking on your links throughout the day! I bet it's getting ready to explode at Menards! High 65 today, tomorrow starts a long run of 70s and a few 80s here, so the planting bug will hit big!

Lisa, so happy to hear that you are over whatever was keeping you down! Have you planned your flowers for the front of your house yet? I plan to ask Ed to take me to a couple of greenhouses on my birthday so I can spend my birthday money from Mom!!

tsk, don't you just love 'no cooking' days? I have those on Monday (Chick-fil-a), Wednesday (Subway), and Friday (Pizza). Would you like me to send you some Lily of the Valley starts? I have about a zillion, and it's more every year! Both of my lilacs are blooming, the old one is blooming more than it has in years! The last pic is the one that Kay planted by the house. You can see all the shoots that come up under the old one! The two oldest branches are the ones the birds use as their safe place close to the feeders. That's the reason I hesitate to cut them down... The smell, I love it! Lily of the valley in the front and side, lilac in the back!

I would love to do this!

Tsk, I meant to mention you were lilacs the other day. They are absolutely beautiful I think. clynn Could save hers with some heavy trimming after the bloom finishes I love the French lilac and had some while I lived in the north my parents had the regular lilac in the yard and the aroma and scent is just fantastic. They were also lily-of-the-valley, but I never thought they were quite as spectacular as a lilac I  I wanted a lilac in the south, and re-searched online and found one that was rated for a very warm climate. I bought the little thing and planted it and nursed it along back within a year it was dead, never to have bloomed. I learned that one must be satisfied with what grows in one Zaria and not try to force growth beyond climate zones. I hate that we can’t grow balls and pennies here but we do have azaleas, gardenias, and other beautiful plants..

I didn’t take my Tylenol this morning trying to see if my back stays good without medication and for how long but I have to say it still is not very strong and I’m still not able to run any foot race or Guardian for that matter going out to water a little, but not a whole lot. Sprinkler system is on at 4 AM.
Happy Katter day.”9”, The typing lady has a way with words
