LISA  What a beautiful Heart knitted red cosy and afghan  :o :o   Great shot at the retention pond - Spring break  LOLOL

BL   That link was amazing.  Really gave the perspective for the amount of snow they received.  Such a great story about the beavers - opportunists that they are - and the "pencil" aspens ;D ;D   Nature's way.

LANI  Sweet Mama and baby pic.

KB   Looks pretty big for a coyote.

Just had a thought watching Tremp nest as the afternoon train rolled by - - - Do you image eagle sitting there was counting the number of railcars there were  like people do?

P

I think Hellgate Osprey Iris does

A funny story.
I was in the Sierra Nevada Mountains near Yosemite NP in the late Spring one year hiking.

My hiking buddy and I kept seeing Aspen Trees that were maybe 20'-25' tall that were just like bean poles but pointy on top.
They looked just like Pencils.
Hmm' that's a head scratch-er ?

As we ambled back out to the trail head we ran into an old codger FS Ranger.
What's up with the "Pencil Aspens" back up in there ?

Answer:
Sometimes in the early Spring all of the snow back in there gets a nice crust on top of it and the Beavers wander out on top of it and ...
Yum-Yum says the beaver ... tender juicy Aspen tops for me and my babies.   8) 8)
So when the snow melts in late Spring you're left with 'Pencil Aspens'   :) ;D

Hi Beakers!  :)

Lots of coyotes in my immediate neighborhood. I see them occasionally during the day, and I hear them regularly very near my bldg at night - often immediately behind my unit - which seems to be a productive hunting "run" for them, which is a narrow grassy strip between my bldg and the Bog. I miss my neighborhood foxes - they aren't around much at all anymore since the coyotes have taken over in my immediate neighborhood.

Lisa, LOL on Spring Break at the pond!  Swamy would love to join them.  ;D Oh, Swampy wasn't enjoying warm water at my pond - just warm air. The pond was iced over till 2 days before he appeared this week. That's why we've had so much fog recently - cold water with warm air above... Loads of sea fog, which is pretty eerie, but very cool, to walk in at the beach.

Lani, thanks, yes, my greatnephew is in school, of course! I just hope he can find a way to write!! Aww, GLG saw her chick for the 1st time.  :-* Welcome back, GLG! Are you ready for the game Sunday? I'm nervous. Go Chiefs!  :D

Was hoping to see a report from Phyl by now - but don't know when her appt was.

Karen, I hope your doc appts went well. You're MIA today. Hope you and Piper are A-OK. Take care.

Have a good evening, Beakers! I'm starving... going to find something to eat.
  ;D

Tsk!    Waving at you!   83 today!  Some hiw I think the AC might have come on today. Will have HeLth check it tomorrow. We will be in the 60s sometime during March that boy it is very warm for February.
The bird flow is very concerning and is everywhere in the country. I have a map of what is infected where but I can’t find it at this point maybe PL can find it. Iowa is not exempt either. Anyway, I hope Phyllis is doing better after her visit to the doctor, but no word as of now.

Karen, Snoopy is so right!  ;D ... I hope your appts went well. Our days have been in the 60's. I watered the perannials today and added a bucket of water on the junipers.

Kb, Urban coyotes and wild ones it doesn't matter.... I have a can of bear spray when we walk... Sadie's always checking her back. We can't see them, but she knows they are there.

Lisa, WOW! A large flock of geese on the pond... reminds me that Mother Goose should be checking out her nest again.... yes, I'm looking forward to it. We know it's only for six months or so... she really wants to move to San Fran and be near her college friends... I couldn't watch The Fog.

BL, Gorgeous stone building.

Baz, yes, I'm nervous for Sunday's game  :-\ ... awww Swampy!... good luck wishes for your great nephew...

Lani - I spray my yard so I can let Ollie out in his back yard which is totally fenced in. He can go out there through his dog door in the wall of dining room. We did/built that so if there ever was a fire in the house and we were gone he'd have a chance of getting out.

Do you have a fenced in yard for Sadie?

Kb, Yes, I know you spray your yard, and that's understandable.... We don't here.. I think I've shared here before. Our HOA does not allow a fenced in yard around property. We have a small fenced dog run 4'x10' connected to the house near lower fenced patio. I don't allow Sadie out in the dog run without someone watching. A coyote, Mountain Lion or BobCat can jump the 3 and half foot fence easily. Cats and dogs are not allowed off-leash. Also, Javelenas like to challenge a dog if it's on a patio and barking at it.

KAREN    Grateful it is!   Hope appts went well.  Weather is certainly topsy turvy these days.

KB  Is the doggie door only 1 way?  Otherwise how do you stop any critter from coming in?

PHYL    How did it go yesterday?

Good Morning Beakers!

Lani, I bet Sadie's nose is constantly sniffing everything on your morning walks!  How I would love to walk with you and Sadie! Yes, Mother Goose should be showing up soon at N1. Wonder if anyone will be at N2B this year?

karen, I would love an 83 day. We had some freezing drizzle last evening, the news really made a big deal about it. School out early. WF sent a message out to all employees to work from home today. I just checked, cars are driving normally on the fairly busy road next to us and I can hear the normal sounds of the freeway close by. I think they needed something to jazz up their forecast since it's been so tame so far.

BL, have you ever been to the Timberline Lodge on Mt. Hood in Oregon?  I love those old buildings, this one was built by the WPA.

Lisa, The Fog, that's my kind of movie! Great pic of the geese at the Retention Pond! We have a lot of geese that permanently live here. Not unusual to have to stop and let the gang cross the roads, they do not get in a hurry!

baz, so Swampy was just checking the bog, he'll be back later!

tsk, what activities are you up to today?
