Hi! I finally made it to the Forum. It's been a while. There's too many pages to go back to read but on this page I see that today is someone's birthday!

Happy Birthday Karen! :)

clynn, Can't miss the pictures of your grands. They look great and happy. Oh to be a kid again!

Since returning from the cabin being busy catching up and helping family too there were days I didn't turn on my laptop. One day I did turn it on but didn't log on. Anyway all's good and better.

Charlie had some slow worrisome days at cabin and here after returning but he's feeling better now.

I hope all in Beak Room have been good health wise and life in general.

We had a good time at the cabin. One very annoying thing happened again. Every Spring since cabin was built I have an allergic reaction to something there. This is our 3rd year with cabin. We're assuming it's something outside whether I'm touching something  or from a bug bite or I brush against something when walking. I get a tingling .. then red bumps appear on legs, arms and back of neck. This time swelling of one leg with a bite and lots of bumps was nasty. The itching is unbearable! This is the third year it's happened. Haven't a clue what causes it. And only in Spring.
I went to urgent care as soon as we returned and was prescribed same as previous years. Prednisone, use Allegra and Pepcid and anti itch sprays and/or cream. Luckily the itching began the morning we were leaving to return home.

We're returning to the cabin tomorrow morning. Yep! Fingers crossed!  I'm still taking the Prednisone etc so all should be okay.

Take care and enjoy your weekend.

BAZI   Task bar is fine.  I do not have the ability to change the size of it.  I'm getting used to it like anything   LOL
TSKbar  Good one!  Tim will not eat yogurt out of the container but he doesn't know he has had it in a jello I make or in a low carb Yasso bar  LOL   Gorgeous cake for Karen  :)   How they ever come to find out about these miracles of nature things - like the very valuable veery  ;) ;) ;)

KAREN   What a wonderfully busy and fun birthday you had  ;D with lots of b-day wishes coming your way via Dr Hall+ puppies and the Help!  Hope you got a bit of a snooze in before yard people.

LISA  YUP  Got the mile + walk in.  :)

PAULIE   Thanks for checking in.  Boy I would be all over trying to figure out what it is that gives you that reaction.  Any neighbors close enough who might have the same experience?

Whew, a busy day for me...I ended up mowing my back yard after all. My temporary mower got too busy.

Glad I did as it was so long. All outdoor workers are terribly busy this year. Especially after several days of rain get in the way.

Ollie man and I are resting....he does this staring thing at me most of the day and never leaves my side.

Mostly he wants to be petted and cuddled with...He's now 10 years old.

BTW I'm going to post a pic of Scott's favorite HUGE wool blanket that he always sat with. I put it in the Jeep for potential winter emergencies. Just washed it by hand and hung it to dry.
Does it look like some kind of Southwest motif? or just any old wool bankie?

After lawn folks left, Piper and I shared a box dinner,  doorbell rang and my back yard neighbor appeared with a card. Flowers and a small but deadly, double chocolate cake!     Sweet of her but I sure do not need this!   Delicious!

KB - check for a manufactures label on the blanket - If it is a wool Pendleton - it is of value - new ones run about $225.  there are many clones on the market - if made of wool, worth about half of a Pendleton.  If not wool, they sell for $30-$50.  Sold under many different names - Indian, Yukon, SW American, Native, Frontier...  They all are patterned from Native rug/blanket designs.  I have 1 full sized Pendleton, that I found at an auction.  I have several knock-offs in cotton blend that I use daily - bought them at Ren Fairs & Indian Pow Wows 25 years ago.

Oh that's helpful oldguy....I find no label on it however. One thing I know for sure is it's old. It's also very heavy and has a fairly rough feel to it, not soft at all. So, I doubt there is any cotton in it.
I'll have to investigate the names you listed.

When I googled native rug/blanket designs briefly I couldn't find this one.

Is your pendelton rough feeling? A better word might be dense....now that I looked at pendelton's website, my guess is that's what it is. Scott did a lot of outdoor camping/hunting etc. which would make sense for even outdoor use.

Here's a new Yakima camp Pendelton...

Kb - yes the Pendleton's were thick and wool is heavy & coarse.  Wool is an excellent fabric for outdoor adventure - water runs off, instead of soaking thru.  My son attended Boy Scout Summer trips in the Olympic Mountains west of Seattle - he was required to bring wool clothing for his 2 week hike.  This area is a cold weather tropical forest - west side of mountains have up to 200 inches of rain per year, while 34 miles to the east receives less than 20 inches.  Pendleton home office is Portland Oregon.

Gotcha. Even makes more sense as Scott lived in Seattle briefly....also docked there at Bremerton? in the Navy.

Good Morning Beakers!  It's Caturday!

Lani, yes, Bella is growing fast, Talon too, but he's content to be on the technology. Bella didn't even turn her iPad on until after lunch. And even then she didn't watch it, she's too busy doing things! And now that Ed has retired they get to spend some time together!

oldguy, interesting about the landslide in Switzerland, kind of worrisome... Will check out the other links later this morning, thanks for posting them! We have a few Pendleton blanket that Ed found on his Thrift Store excursions. He found a large southwest pattern one that he gave Mom for her sunroom, it is beautiful!

tsk, funny about Tim and the yogurt! I am that way about cottage cheese - don't even try to sneak it into anything, I will know! And I am sure I have eaten something not knowing it had cottage cheese in it. (I have always wondered how it ever got the title of cheese!) Mom and Dad both loved it and Mom has a whole set of vintage tall glasses with different cacti on each glass. All were filled with cottage cheese back in the 50s.  Yes on the peddle bike, another thrift store find!  Bella loves it!

Paulie, oh yes, to be a kid again! But these kids will never know the fun we had when we were kids in a world much simpler than it is now! I second Lani's idea of trying to identify plants around your beautiful cabin and hopefully determine which one you are allergic to! I use an app called PlantNet, it's free and easy. Just point it at the plant and let it search. I am going to try the one Lani uses and see if it's better!

karen, sounds like you had a wonderful birthday! Lots going on around you! I am so glad you have Piper, she is a good little girl and you can talk to her. I bet she lovves it!

baz, thanks for the interesting article about the Veery!  If your knee is feeling better little by little then you are doing the right thing, although I am not a doctor! But sometimes we just need to take it easy and things will get back to normal.

Lori, thanks for the picture of Destini and her Meowijuana ID! I have ordered this item :   https://cattasaurus.com/   They are arriving today, can't wait to see if they like them!

Big Bear - Sunny & Gizmo

Archeology & Civilizations - In the sunbaked earth of the Paluxy Riverbed near Glen Rose, Texas, ancient echoes linger. What may appear as mere dents in the rock are, in truth, the fossilized footprints of a dinosaur that walked this very path over 113 million years ago. Preserved in limestone like a prehistoric diary, these tracks belong to a massive theropod, possibly an Acrocanthosaurus. Standing before them, visitors feel the weight of time—imagining the thunder of giant footsteps across a primeval landscape. It’s a silent, stone trail that defies extinction, whispering stories from an age when titans ruled the land.

KB  Hard to believe Ollie is 10 already.  :-*

KAREN   You sure did have lots of greetings for your b-day.  AND a real cake you could actually eat  LOL

OLDGUY  Interesting info about Pendleton.  That IS some good news for Switzerland.  I can't even fathom the destruction.   No one is going to train LULU.  :D

LANI   Excellent idea for Paulie.  My SIL Barb has a plant ID app on her phone.  It has come in handy.

HMMM  Very strange thing happened - I was using google lens on CLYNNs dino tracks - Backed out of it and the posting page was frozen.  Copy and pasted into this tab.  Glad I didn't lose it

CLYNN   Cute kitties in the tree knot.  Tim loves cottage cheese - low fat  :D    Saw that big Hover at Big Bear yesterday - Probably a fledge today?

LISA   I remember chigger bites as always occurring around my waist.  So much itching  :o   Enjoy the b-day celebration.  Is she a young "80"?
