Good Morning Beakers

karen - Jeff does not watch, but when he opened his eyes this morning, he looked to see if the Commanders won or not.  I saw a big smile on his face.   :D  Good luck with the pulmonary doc this morning. Keep us posted.

Lani - I love colorful socks, and wear socks all day around the house till I need to go out.  Send me a PM with questions.  ;D

BL - Awww, the pup that came out from the rubble.

Phyl - Glad to hear you are in the melt down process.

tsk - I remember too having snow in April here one year.  I thought to myself how weird.

kb - Aww, so glad the goats were rescued!

Waving morning to clynn, tig, oldguy, Puff and all  :)

Good Morning Beakers!

Lisa, you are up early this morning, with another cozy cup of coffee! I can picture Jeff with a big smile on his face, Erin was the same when they came over yesterday! Manchester United won the soccer game! You should see all of the colorful socks nr has knitted, you would be in sock heaven. I wear the Isotoner black ballet-type slippers year round in the house, with thin socks in the winter. My feet get too hot in heavy socks and tennis shoes!

karen, and wow, you are up way early today! What does piper think about that??

Lani, I believe that everyone of us would get our furkids safely in the vehicle first if we had to evacuate quickly! I can't imagine not doing so. It is heartwarming seeing people rescue the pets that were left behind. I read that the Horton fire is 80% contained, that is good news. Now you need some rain!  Love the Sister Nun pooches you posted yesterday!

tsk, I remember getting 4-6" of snow on May 2 in 2013! Of course, it didn't last long, I think it was gone the next morning.  Only in Duluth would that be not uncommon!

kb, love seeing the man find his dog!

Phyl, did you and Jim finish your meltdown yesterday? Hope both of you are feeling chipper today! Maggie too!

Firefighters are heroes without capes.
In the midst of the devastating wildfires in Los Angeles, brave firefighters risk everything to save the most vulnerable—terrified cats, dogs, and other animals trapped in the flames. A touching story of courage, compassion, and hope. Let's honor these unsung heroes and remember the importance of protecting all lives, big or small.
Thank you Firefighters for your service on the frontlines and all that you do
❤️🐾🧯🚒🧑‍🚒

Never lie, steal, cheat, or drink. But if you must lie, lie in the arms of the one you love. If you must steal, steal away from bad company. If you must cheat, cheat death. And if you must drink, drink in the moments that take your breath away. ~ Unknown

BL  Great capture of a true "IA Drone"  Thanks for finding/posting to whoever gave that to us.

KB  Salvation of the animals   :'(   :'(  :'(   :'(  :'(  :'(

Goodness to the utmost.
Background story on the goats appreciated.

BTW  Since snowmachine peaked interest - It's not just for younger gen.  I was in my 50's, Ton would have been in his 60's.  Neither of us had ever been on a snowmachine.  The temp was doable (shelter cabins for resting).  Overwhelming beauty and peace!

kareng  Hard task, washing hair.  Still haven't conquered that.  Friends, niece helped so far = over relying on them.  Going to talk to my beautician - I know she does help homebound people.  Don't want to burden her, but maybe a clue or two for me.  Talking about itching - My routine was every other day; had a wash/dry maybe 3 times since December issue.   :-[

Thanks, too, Karen, for joining the beak early club.  We are a safe group, we don't bite.

Howdy to all my fellow early beakers.   :-*

SOCKS!!!  Now that's an interesting topic.  My only contact with them is when I'm working outside.  Long socks almost to the knee ---- have to keep from being food for the bugs/bites.  Use my old gymmies - they are the first to come off when done.  So far haven't had to use them since October (?).  Do use flips most of rest of the year.  Must have 30 pairs for varied reasons. And there are good reason - sticking to my story.  I also am a big fan of the Brooklyn ballerina slipons made by Crocs.

Luckily I've not needed socks so far this winter - Actually incapable of putting them on anyway at the moment.  Concentrating on the bra technique.   :o

 Good Morning Beakers ...

Today   36F mostly sunny  and to night  19F

The firefighters and rescuers are fantastic ...rescuing people's pets and  livestock ... making sure all out of harms way.
Heartbreaking  the loss of human, wildlife and pet lives . The material losses in the billions ... devastating

Karen- And, there is no question Maggie would be the very first out of the house and  packed in the car! She'd be 'terrified'. All the best w/pulmonary doc this AM. Keep us posted.

CLynn- Glad to see some  snow melt down in Albion. Firefighter rescues are deeply touching...tears    Nope.  Meltdown continues today. But, the streets byways and highways are clear and completely 'snowless'.

KB slowly the fires are being contained. But those Santa Ana winds started picking up over the weekend.  :(
Heard on FNC over the weekend police caught about 10 looters.  ;D

BL-thanks for the music links

Hi Puff.   :)    Hugs

HELLO BEAKERS!  :)  I just noticed while I was in the process of posting this, our Beak Room for 2024 thread was just archived, ending with Lani's New Years post at the end of 2024/beginning of 2025. Please note that this is now the Beak Room 2025! :)

 ;D ;)

FYI... Some of the most up-to-date coverage of the California fires is available via several local Los Angeles TV stations, who have provided excellent and invaluable up-to-date information for people living in that area, and updates, as well as live coverage of press briefings by LA County officials, with their live coverage and also their new stories.

Some of the several local LA area TV stations providing excellent up-to-date fire coverage of the LA County fires include KNBC and KCBS, and there are others.

Here's a link to the KNBC tv station, local to Los Angeles:

https://www.nbclosangeles.com/

NOTE: There is the option to click on live coverage on their web page when it's available, or to see videos of their live reports after they've aired. But, PLEASE note the dates and times for some of them, and be aware that if you are looking at a story that's 20 hrs old, for instance, then you are not seeing the most current up-to-date info on those fires.

Prayers for All affected by the many fires, and all who are helping them.

Stay warm and safe, All!  I send wishes of comfort and healing to all in need.  :-*

Ms. Falcon's given us a new Beakroom for 2025...thank you, Amy.

Baz-I notice all that too right after my Morning post  7:30AM today.

Hi Tsk  - gosh I haven't worn knee socks since school.  I do see the sound logic in doing that. When indoors I wear thick socks w/ turn down cuff to keep my ankles warm. Flip-flops only when I've had a pedicure. Jim hates the sound of them.

Puff --  :)

PHYL  tsk Always have a pedicure!  I deserve, have earned it, and like seeing nice - mani or pedi.

Right now in dire need of both though. :'(  Physical elements of pedicures now impossible for do-it-myself projects.  Embarrassed to have one hand of naked nails - the other hand a horrible mess.  Just one of my terrible worries when younger to compensate for when $$ was available for such trivia.  Did without when I had to, don't want to anymore.
