Good Morning Beakers!

Phyl, pretty scenery in the 365, winter is over...Pretty flowers in vases! We are at 54 right now, high will be 81 today! 71 tomorrow, 45 on Sunday! Crazy! I'll let you know about the soap thing, if I try it!

Lani, interesting news about Aly, wonder if she is not the only one dismayed by the changes that were put in place! The people can have a voice if enough protest the change!  Beautiful wolf picture, can't tell for sure, are there two snuggling together?

BL, lots of good and interesting information on the place on the place on the island...Great article, sounds like a very grueling trip to get there!  No kidding, when your body gets too old and feeble to have adventures you need to write a book full of your mazing memories. You can get a voice-to-text program and talk and talk. It would be kind of like Garrison Keillor...

oldguy, you are like an instant encyclopedia! Thank you! Sounds like you would have been like BL if you had better shoes! Dang!

Boulder County CO - first osprey has shown up!

TIG    I could get seasick just getting to Isle Royale  LOL  What an experience!

OLDGUY   Sparrow song piece fascinating - Some very dedicated people had to study and recognize that from the very beginning.
Gosh, I do not have 1 hour 24 to listen to the story but sounds so interesting.  I'll do it in spurts  LOL    Lesson learned on that 6 day hike.  Ouch.   And someone actually counts all the wolves and moose.  Sure are a lot of moose for that Island.  Now we know you are quite the adventurer as well  ;D ;D

BL   Am not so sure about the Bart the bear story... :o :o :o

LANI    Hope it isn't a tough rest of the year for Aly.  :-\

PHYL   Lots of spring color this AM  :)  Thanks for the new words.

some bounce

Many moons ago... sometime in the 80s? ... I joined a group of 11 strangers (my boss at the time knew a captain) on a sailing trip (6 folks each on 2  40 footers) from Port Superior, WI to Isle Royale. We spent a day at Chippewa Harbor. The plan was ... to take a dingy to Lake Richie and make it to Hastings Island. I could have those locations incorrect, I only remember the "visit the largest island in the largest lake on the largest island in the largest lake". Unfortunately, the little outboard wouldn't fire up. We did, however, fight a 60 m.p.h. gale in 14 ft. seas on our way out of Indigo a few days later. We retreated to the island and sailed out the next day. There are many more stories of that trip. Quite the memory.

My Bro had taught me how to sail on his 35 footer on Lake Pepin.

SED

Wow Tig! That was quite a trip! And made for indelible memories, for sure!

It was a 6 day hike - I think it was about 35 miles - so not rushed, but the terrain along the backbone was wicked (about 2 days) - limited tree cover and sharp/uneven rocks, constantly up and down.  My then wife was the experienced hiker (Girl Scouts) and we traveled at about 30% body weight for backpacks.  Met a solo hiker that passed us in that area that was traveling at 60% with full ax and fishing gear, he left us behind real quick.  I had improper foot wear for the terrain and damaged my feet - new expensive shoes and 3-4 weeks before I could walk without pain.  Still can not wear cheap shoes today.

Holy moly on that hiking trip, OG!! And whoa on the loaded down hiker who passed you!

Tig I hear your pings.

Leaches and various water pond cooties we humans don't belong in some times water bodies happen.

BUT we dive in anyway. You know why, because we can.  8)

Fo' sho' on dat pond water cooties and other you-don't-wants! I no longer contact my local retention pond water with skin. Possibly a seasonal/nasty type algae thing, but not taking any chances anymore... Last time I put my hand in it to retrieve trash, I ended up with a nasty rash. I mean nasty. Not short-lived, and not just ugly, itchy. Not gonna test those waters anymore. All trash now retrieved via extension pole.

BL, brushing up on the floatplane... not in my retention pond.  ;D  However, a small plane low-and-slow flyover might be in order first, followed up by jumps, instead of landing and bushwhacking, pondside to the island's pond with an island with a pond with an island with a pond with a boulder with a turtle.

HAPPY DAY, BEAKERS!  :)

I still need to read a couple of days posts, but I have read the last day's posts, finally. More later.

Lani, I'm still wearing my "Beat Duke" button. It goes with everything!  ;D  I was so hoping Arizona would win last night, and tried to look past Caleb Love having left UNC for there. He had a great game, despite their loss to you-know-who. I will be pulling for the Alabama men on Saturday!! Never thought I would have a really good reason to say, "Roll Tide!" LOL.  This afternoon, it's the UNC women taking on the Dookies. Go Tarheels!!  :D

Clynn, yes! You and the Munchkins should check out that soap thing! Just don't touch it when it comes out of the microwave till it's cooled down - including in the middle of it. Yowza!

Later, gators.

So beautiful:

A girl, her horse, and a dog...with the wind at their back:

Reminds me how much fun I had skating from Venice Beach to Redondo Beach and back on their bike path...just minus the horse and doggo.

CLYNN   I'd need a beach to see a sunrise like that.  LOL  Now I'm thrilled to see a sunrise over the roof tops.  LOL  Can you imagine seeing that gorgeous Arizona view everyday on your way to work and then really "not seeing it"? :(

KB  Had to learn more about the Pudu.  It's predators are cougar, fox, small cats and the eagle owl.  Poor little guy  :(   Have not had the TV on yet to hear about the earthquake.  Gone all morning.   Beautiful horse keeping an eye on the pup  LOL
