CHECK CHECK and CHECK LisaG.

I trust your opinion from the Great State of Maryland as a devout observer of hatchery BE's in the Great State of Iowa.   :-*

A BE identifying connoisseur for sure.  ;)

My very bad and I should have known better.
I thought Dover was in MD.   ::)   :-[

Now I've managed to PO my MD & DE peeps.  LOL.

Pip said get off the computer and tend to your long honey do Saturday list before the next 4 days of rain sets in.

Yes Dear.      :-*

 ;D ;D

Come on Leroy lets tend to the chores buds.

His magnificent llama off white mop top head said we'll have at it with you daddy oh' for sure.

I've got hooves & no opposable thumbs but I'm down with the task.   ;D

These critters are remarkably intuitive & intelligent in the Camelid family.

They so have Pip & I's backs so solid like Pip and I have theirs.

we hammered the last nails head home didn't we Leroy.    :)

Inspected.

My critter helpers that turned out today were so helpful to me.     :)

The critter paddock knows it's going to get really wet big time here weather wise long before us.

BE pair spent the night in N6 again, and stick work began as usual.  Gorgeous sunrise on the nest.  Both had some breakfast, HD looked to have a fish and ate it on the lower branches on N6, and female was perched W of hatchery in treeline by farm and ate some prey.  Hard to tell what it was so far away.  Both were last seen upstream behind the branches, one is to the right of the one in view.

Lisa, such great pics of the early morning and eagles at Decorah N6.  The best is being able to say "eagles at Decorah" and have them be close enough to observe if not identify conclusively.  Eventually they will be in very close camera range and we see better identifiers.

I thought the eagle in the tall tree eating prey, might have caught a goose.  Several crows were in the tree wanting some!

Eagles continue work on N6 this morning.  Also perching in familiar trees.

The N1 family of geese were feeding near and in the Pond about 10:00.

I wonder how long N2BMG will stay on these non-viable eggs ?

Poor girl needs a break from sitting in this nest day and night.  ::)

I do see she does leave the nest now and then, but it's usually only for a brief period of time and barely enough time to get a decent wing stretch and a snack maybe. Certainly not enough time to do fun spring time goose activities, whatever those are.  ;)

The female goose at N2B will probably start leaving for longer times as days go by, similar to the eagles' behavior at DNN this spring.  It's sad for us to watch, but if the incubation instinct wasn't really strong, more viable eggs would surely be abandoned.  Whatever causes the goose to incubate and roll the eggs, maybe hormones plus the instinct, will wane over time.  There's probably a doctoral thesis or study of Canada goose behavior that can explain better.   BL,  Maybe Google "Why do geese/eagles/birds keep incubating eggs past the hatching period?"

The eagle pair worked on N6 early this morning.  One brought a really big long stick, but it "escaped" before placement.  Cam ops are doing a great job of following the activity.

It's wonderful to watch a pair of bald eagles once again building a new nest on the banks of Trout Creek.    ;D

I wonder how much camera action we will have on N6 once the trees fully leaf out ?

LisaG, do you know if this 'clump' of "horse pasture" trees that N6 is being built in over by the road bridge are also Cottonwood Trees ?

Look who was laying in the nest bowl over in the N1 nest this AM.   8)

I'm pretty sure I know which goose this one is.   ;)

BL - Yes, it is the front horse pasture trees, across the creek and right behind Willard's house.  Front view of nest faces Siewers Spring Rd.  I am not sure if they are cottonwood trees, tho!

Edit, I asked someone who knew, and they said, yes it is a cottonwood!
