What an incredible "catch" of a photo.

The question about solar powered eagle nest cams was asked on their fb page...I never heard an answer that satisfied but I gave up scrolling after awhile?

But, I recently bought a solar powered "net" Christmas light for my yew and after one day without sun it stopped working. Yesterday it rained all day. Reviews said oh it can stay lit through clouds etc.

It comes with a USB charger and I did that all last night, but now I have to re hook it up in the snow!

I'm disappointed but will give it another try. It was solar or battery powered choice for me as otherwise it takes a long extension cord across my garage door to reach an outlet. Now I wish I'd picked battery powered.

Perhaps it's NOT true that solar powered stuff works well in Minnesota with lots of cloudy days in the winter?

I am not done with getting ready for winter. Hitting my forehead as I believed the 10 day weather forecast. Snowing lightly here till around noon.

I have hopefully one day, Sunday, to finish mowing up massive leaves on my front yard and running out the gas out of mower and swapping positions with snowblower....Hopefully.

Just found this from Lori Noelle at the DNR nest: when asked about solar powered cameras. She's in charge.

"Solar isn’t reliable in Minnesota in the winter. Can you imagine brand new chicks and the camera goes down for hours?! Just isn’t feasible"

Woot Woot Ollie man!

He was unrelenting in the staring mom down for at least an hour. Even lightly barking at me. Unfortunately, he doesn't speak English. As Chris was on the phone with his Doc and complaining I tried everything to figure out what he wanted: Food, opening of all 3 doors....nope nothing absolutely nothing would stop him from trying to get my attention.

Now I did hear that distant light infrequent chirping sound from a low battery of a smoke alarm.
Finally found it in the garage.

One of those sealed kiddie ones with a 10 year battery life. Had to google how to discharge the battery as you can't open the dang thing. Also as it's a lithium battery have to dispose at a special hazardous waste site.

Now Ollie is peacefully resting on my bed....Way to go. Now I know when he wants my attention he won't stop until I figure it out!

So sorry Ollie man..

OLDGUY  Catching up on some of yesterdays links - Sliding down glass bridge - wish I was younger  LOL  Amazing to construct something like that.

PHYL   I'm only doing a turkey breast for 3 of us.  found out this AM that Whole Foods will have turkey legs available on Friday and I will get those for Tim.  They will also have stuffing available next week. YAY   Eagles dot the landscape at the Flyway.  :)

KB   Lori Noelle makes sense - solar not for winter...   Ollie is one handy dog to have around!!!  So how long did the sealed "10 yr" battery last?

tsk in 2025 would be 10 years....If I could put up with the intermittent chirp probably would have made it the next 6 weeks!...LOL

Indeed on Ollie man...he's always been extremely alert..if you remember even as a puppy he alerted us to when the toaster or coffee pot weren't pushed back completely on the counter...
I eventually got a little disturbed by his non stop attempt to get my attention and was very unusual..I won't do that again.

This is just too beautiful not to post: Mariah Lowinske writes:

Baz  how's the knee this AM? Hopefully better.   I fear...my  R. knee will always be trouble despite the PT

CLynn  Went back and  reread ...tks for  Great Horned Owl Cam 2024 Season Highlights: enjoyed this. Wyoming's  Dizzying Smith  Mansion vaguely reminds me of the Winchester Mystery House in San Jose CA, the Winchester Rife family . Eons ago while visiting friends I toured it. There are spooks :o

Tsk Oh yes. You did say  you were only doing a turkey breast for 3 of you.  And  turkey legs  for Tim.

KB  Mariah Lowinske's photo of  Minnehaha Falls in autumn looks amazing. Tks

Phyl - You are right about having one to many slices of that cake. It is excellent with morning coffee.  ;D  Great pics from the cams this morning.

tsk - Love that morning pic!  Not a big to do for Jeff and I this year either on Thanksgiving Day.    My grocery store Acme, if you spend $300 you can get either a free 4-7lb turkey breast or a 10-22lb turkey.  We got a 12lb one.  You can make lots of things with leftover turkey.   :D  I don't even know if I am putting up the tree this year.  I may put up my ceramic white one.

kb - Love the waterfall pic.

tig - Glad your pool was nice and warm for you.  :)

Lani:)
