Phyl- Funny how we all kind of 'catch up' to our Parent's ages!  Wow, only 5 months until you are at your Dad's age that he passed away. I have a hunch you will live a long & prosperous life! ;D   Good for you in using the long-handled pruning tool! Great arm exercise. :)

Lani- I am ready for warmth, and although the first part of the day was at 59 deg., it is 64 now and very nice.

Karen- I'd like to get over to the San Diego Zoo sometime - never been yet!

Clynn- That is so wonderful that your Mom is doing so well & fine! :)    Thanks so much for posting Benny Bruhling!  I love seeing and hearing about our beautiful and dedicated Mom Decorah!!

Tsk- I know you were talking to Phyl about your Dad's Father's age, but just for the sake of mentioning, my Dad's Father lived to 60 yrs.  That is such a young age now!    One of my hubby's brothers lives just up the street from that Beach area in P.G. - very close walking distance.

Tig- Enjoy BBall tonight on Tv!   I will go back and look at the Baltimore vid!  Thank you!

LisaG- CA has lots of places to go and see!! 8)

Kb- Very lucky that Dennis & Vi's home was not more damaged from that terrible explosion next door.  Nice that you & Ollie enjoyed your walk this morning. :)

Baz- Like your 'happy day' - beautiful flowers!

Spent part of the day with my mom & sis; I drove us to see my Aunt in a nearby town as it is my Aunt's birthday today.  She got some nice gifts! A couple of my cousins were there too.  She is the one who is in an assisted living home right now.

Now, hubby & I are leaving in a little while to see our Grandson playing baseball! :)

Beakers have a nice evening.

EAGLES   How far are you from the San Diego Zoo?   If I were your brother in law I would walk to that gorgeous beach every day  LOL
How nice a day to take Mom to Sis's b-day.  Some catching up with family too.   Enjoy the ball game  ;D

Don't know if anyone had a chance to see on NatGeo the 3 part episode  " Secrets of the Octopus"  What a mind blowing show.  How they photograph some of this stuff is amazing.

Good evening!   Beautiful flowers posted today!   Thanks! Love the blue/purple color!  Some Lobelia varieties are just like that! Also, a blub flower, the name escapes me but a vatiety of a lily!   Just read that my wave petunias will live for e years!
Tig, thanks for the info on the Baltimore Harbor!
Clynn, thanks for Bennys picture of Mom D and DM2!  Most impressed with the  tremendous size of the nest!
Had a busy day, doing not much but will wish all seds and sign off!

Reminds me I used to stop in to a Venice Beach improv jazz club and loved it.

kb everybody ok there and their habitats?

I know the 1 on the corner not so good.

House next to you goes gas leak BOOM leveled .. very close .. minor damage right next door minimal ?

BLESSED.

Gas House Explosion 2 doors down once imploded most of our windows glass as we were taking tea and crumpets.
Pip and I's scars.

I'm amazed and so happy that your neighbors house so close went relatively unscathed.

See above music.

CLYNN- a pretty purple theme today---all that lavender ; John Lennon  if only  ;)   I did some searching on the wind chime I  posted last
night and here's what I found  https://i.pinimg.com/736x/83/74/0d/83740d206e3887dfa85105463a37e696.jpg
Plus  https://www.aliexpress.com/i/3256805582990872.html?gatewayAdapt=bra2glo4itemAdapt
evidentially there are several versions. Many t hanks for posting/sharing Benny Bruhling 's Decorah Eagles update w/ great photo

TSK- you're in the pink this  AM---as you said purples and pinks today; tks to you/CLynn for  y our comments of encouragement on Dad's
passing

TIG-tks for the video on  'tug war horses' Baltimore Bridge aftermath. It was interesting; I Googled 'The Long Game' and I think this is one
Jim and I would find most interesting as you and Camper. Thanks ---another we'll add to our list of "Must Watch"

LISA- April's all but gone. And, we're still drinking hot cocoa---I was just commenting to Jim that we've not had any in a while and needed some  ;)

HI T40 - easy to agree by all us that 'birdwatch' and do 'birding' like Jim and I with our bluebirds---the Bruhlings are invaluable .

HEY EAGLES- how did your grandson's game end?  YOu know if I lived near that beach I'd be walking it's shores--

BL- I've heard Les Paul---tks for the Dickey Betts at  Iridium Jazz Club--  ;)

Lots of questions raised about that house that exploded. My understanding that a house sale can't close unless there's hazard insurance   AKA homeowner's
insurance , provided by new owners --- required to satisfy the lienholder

thanks for the addition of music!

All quiet now on the midwestern front.

I did want to ask you though. It may be common sense but watching that house burn for over 2 hours with multiple fire agencies attacking it was something I won't forget.

I assume a gas fueled fire burns differently than a wooden only fire?

When I first got there, less than 5 minutes after the huge "boom" the gas meter outside the home was on fire as well as that side of the house...The large window was gone in front as well as what looked like huge structural movement of the building. The main explosion from what I see came from the basement. We don't know yet, investigation ongoing, but I therefore assume the furnace or water heater was the culprit.

Hard to believe how long they took to just keep it from spreading to other homes and watch each side of the house collapse.

Was something to behold and I won't ever forget it...and then 30 minutes or more after the house being attacked by firemen the shed started in our block's back yard..I saw what looked like either a secondary explosion (5 minutes after original) or from the original throwing something hot in the back yards but didn't flame up at first.
That's when we were all told to leave our homes immediately. I had enough time to put on my shoes and collar Ollie man and she said I could not back out my car and put Ollie in it. Had to stand across the street till they got that one out. The sheriffs went house by house with their order.

Shed was only wood but did have a lawn mower inside but I think it's battery powered only. But, that fire was put out in relation to the house much quicker.

Health related:

I had my 6 month skin cancer appointment scheduled from 6 months ago at the time we were ordered out of our homes.

When I called to re-schedule and spoke with a young woman, I really was disappointed they can't accomodate that kind of emergency and wouldn't fit me in till late June!

Surely our health care system can do much much better. They better not try to charge me for a missed appointment. I explained it all and heard no concern/compassion out of that young woman at all.

    The Raptor Resource Project

From Amy's blog...

Announcing – The Philippine Eagle Cam!
April 23, 2024  RaptorResource

https://www.raptorresource.org/2024/04/23/announcing-the-philippine-eagle-cam/

We are thrilled to announce that the Philippine Eagle cam is online here: https://www.philippineeaglefoundation.org/transfer-breeding-eagles-now and here: https://www.raptorresource.org/birdcams/philippine-eagle-cam/ and here! https://explore.org/livecams/raptor-resource-project/philippine-eagles

The Raptor Resource Project has partnered with the Philippine Eagle Foundation and Explore.org to bring bird lovers a live 24×7 stream of Ariela and MVP, a mated pair of Philippine Eagles who live at the National Bird Breeding Sanctuary (NBBS) in Barangay Eden, in the Philippines. The Philippine Eagle is one of the largest and most powerful eagles in the world. Unfortunately, it is also among the world’s most critically endangered species, with just 90-250 pairs of eagles remaining in the wild. Ariel and MVP’s home is off-limits to tourists, but we invite everyone to visit them online and help collect observations about their behavior, including courtship, copulation, and – talons crossed! – egg and offspring care.
