Hi Beakers and Happy TGIF evening!    Hope you are all warm and cozy In your nests by now!  Speaking of which, the little one in swfl  has spouted pin feathers and is eating all  kinds of things from the pantree!   M has kept the food coming done a great highway clean up of rabbits, turtle and opossum that came in contact with a speeding auto  and were destined to spend eternity  blending in with the concrete!   Bany seemed ti enjoy this as much as fresh. Fish!

Had a nice day today . But on the cool side!   Cold over tge weekend with a skight warm up Monday and then highs in the low to mid 70’s for 5 days!   Wish I could share wit you but I do not want to cause a flood of melted snow!

Happy Birthday to Aly!   Hope she had a great day with Dewey and friends!
Tsk, I am having the housekeeper  once a week, every two weeks!   Could change this if I need ti add days, I guess.    I have cancelled the hha on Monday and  Wednesday and  will cancel all the other 3 days when the agency finds  her another  placement!   She needs the income!   She works mornings for someone else on Monday and
Wednesday!
I can call them when I need a driver  for appointments.
I have not driven since I went to the home and plan to take a short spin in a day ir two and see his it goes!   As I have told a few
Of you, I  am another beaker besides clynn who has seen a retina specialist!
Since I  have dry macular degeneration gone haywire there  is nothing he can do.  He said I am legally blind and cannot drive.  My Dr.  explained I am legally blind in one eye and can do daytime driving  in known areas.I cannot drive to Atlanta!  I asked if that meant a drive to Chicago was out too and he laughed!  This went bad at the home and I thought it was the tv! If the left eye stays operational, Great!  Now you know!  Complaining,  whining and crying will not fix it!

Time to take Piper  out  before the freeze sets in!   Oh btw. The sun patients I left out have bitten the dust!   Poor things were not well before the cold.

BL   Thank you for educating me on black walnut - I stand corrected and knew I went to the right source for the answer..  I had been misinformed.  Had no idea it was so toxic.  Glad Dad didn't get the inclination to do anything with it other than the nuts.    I never knew that about how branches are trimmed.  Our city is big on tree trimming, I will need to watch next time.  You are a wealth of information.  Thanks.

To eat the nuts, or the flesh of the nuts as it where.

Hence from Dad's vise with gloves on are safe to eat.

I've eaten many B W nuts guts while foraging over the years.

Flat rock base with a rock overhead  thud - splat - instant protein.

Pip & I always have our heads on a swivel when we find them in the Fall however because they are also a favorite of our local Ursus.

Black Bear.
How exactly they consume them is a mystery to me personally as I've tried to see them consume them.
They are not using rocks to smash them open as far as I know like monkeys.

If they are we're moving.   :)

Good mornin' Phyl I can usually find you sharing the beak with me.  Nice way to start our day, isn't it?

Got far behind yesterday - hoping to find a left over day's hours.  Guess not!

Lani clynn Crowley Lake Stone Columns! Those Columns of formation are fascinating.  Something new I added to my bucket for when I'm in the territory.  This year I added Iowa's rollercoaster roads.  Hope to see/drive one of them  when I'm out there for ATF.  Something new, sight for this year.

BL  Had to be a fun memory of seeing your mom take the leap. ::)  ;D
My Mom memory would have to be the time she walked around a couple weeks with a black eye because she decided to join my brothers' baseball game.  Caught the ball without the mitt, wham into her eye.

Ahhh, beautiful downtown Bozeman.  That's the jumping off point for snowmobiling in Yellowstone.  I knew about it being a college town (without a McDonald's at the time, a rarity).  Not many places to "make" trouble.  Almost had to behave.

Phyl My fault - left the impression my brothers were bad, mean to me.  Somewhere they took up the challenge/duty of taking care of their little sister.  Lost oldest Rodney in 2006, 65 yrs.  Also, Edward passed 2020, 71yrs.  Younger sister, Rita, 64 yrs, in 2004.  Not a good longevity record.  The Big Guy upstairs says he's not ready for me yet????  Can you tell my Mom had a unique set of names she picked from.

New way of thinking hit me a couple days ago.  Since my birthday is the 8th -- I'm not 80.  That was the celebration 2 weeks ago.  Now technically, I'm over 80.  :-*

BL I also loved your map of the parks.  Think it's 3 I've missed there.  But you completely didn't cover one of my fav roads   89/89A  Starts at Glacier N.P. then down thru Prescott/Sedona to Mexico.  I should take the time to count the Park areas in total.  Got most of the well-known, but I bet Lani would have her favs.  I'm guessing maybe a dozen N.P. total there?

clynn Lots of concern and prayers from all of us here.  And love!!  I'll be back later.

P

Puff, one of my nephews (the younger son of my Mtns Sis), went to college in Bozeman, originally on a football scholarship. He gave that endeavor up after his soph year. Playing that sport, that is - not college. LOL. There's lots of ways to get in trouble in a college town anywhere, McD's or not. LOL. He graduated with a double major, but primarily a Fine Arts degree, with a few extra special awards and honors to go with, and makes his living as a professional photog, but spends his days mostly on the snow, in the back country, and on outback forays, ice climbing, and wilderness camping, hiking, and skiing in the wild and such - much of it around Glacier, and the surrounding national parks. His wife, too, who is a web designer.  I attached a pic of their dog at one time there, after college days - in 2008 - biting a sign on one of their trail outings. LOL! He was an incredible dog, and hilarious, who always would "bite" every sign on every trail, don't ask me why - he was not an aggressive dog by any measure, but "signs" were something he had to dominate. LOL!! What an incredible trail dog, I'm sure BL's Kopje and he would have similar skills. He would howl like mad at night with any wolves and coyotes around - a regular thing where my nephew and his wife lived at the time, in Kalispell.  :)

I'm back - hubby needed my assistance with something and then I made us some dinner; baked chicken, mashed potatoes, gravy & green salad (no bread).
Kb - Too cold!  I bet your little Ollie man is looking forward to warmer temps!
Tig - Sounds like a good salad dinner!
Puff - Awe, that is too bad about your tooth, but at least it will finally be taken care of.
Lani - I hope your Aly had a beautiful birthday. :)
BL - Thank you for sharing your knowledge about the wood - so much that I never knew about.
Phyl - Yummy chili dinner! :)
Tsk - Yumm!! Wish I could have a bowl of your chicken soup! ;D
Baz - No worries - check in when you can.  Good for you in taking care of stuff that you need to do. So happy you & Zippo are doing well. :-* :)
Karen - Glad you & Piper are doing fine. :-*

Beakers have a safe & warm night and sleep well.

BL, Thanks for information about the black walnut. I did not know it was toxic.. Mike's granddad had two black walnut trees on his property. I don't remember if he ever mentioned it. I'll have to ask Mike...  I think it was Monday & Tuesday Oregon lost power. No internet Tuesday. Thank you for birthday wishes for Aly.... gorgeous black walnut bowls... the circle of life.  :)

Phyl, nice comfy dinner and cozy good night pic! Thank you birthday wishes for Aly.

{{{Puff}}} I'm sorry about your three siblings.  :-*

{{{Baz}}} great to see your post and know that all is well with you and {{{Zippo!}}} :-* ... what a hoot about the sign biting dog! LOL!!

SED Eagles Thank you for birthday wishes for Aly.

Thank you everyone for Aly's cards and birthday wishes. She and Dewey had a nice day. She went looking through antique shops for a small dining table with a couple of chairs. She received great news that she would get a bonus for working for Payson Community Bridges which will go towards paying for her masters degree!   ;D

Good night!
