At whole foods I have been successful by saying: "Can I borrow a tall person?"

Lisa those 'Thanksgiving' figurines I made 3o yrs ago in a ceramics class.  I was required to trim the greenware and initial/date before firing.
Once cooled I had to sand each piece smooth as glass. Then prime and hand paint by hand, two coats each---I think the group was fired before the final glazing. I had made loads of things and gave them away--the set posted and two pumpkins and tab le clock and Easter are about all that
remains

KB hope that dog gets a good home

TSK I think Lulu has good instincts about puzzles  ;)   {{{Tim}}}

Tig  Yeah. As a biology teacher said...those discs between vertebra compress with the demands of Life and gravity.

BL enjoyed your post today---LOL your girlfriend   ;D

BrokenLug - You are tall!  Can I borrow you at the store for shelf reaching?  ;D

tsk - Oh no, poor Tim!  Did you get the bleeding to stop?

Phyl - Very cool that you kept those ceramic pieces.  I wish I had kept some pieces that I had made in a ceramic class when I was a youngster.  I know one was a ceramic Christmas tree.  Those classes sure were fun.

BL  ;D

TSK... I missed your post earlier. Tell Tim from me... Slow down please. I turned the bathroom light off last night and ran into my cane with my bare foot. I was carrying a dish in my other hand, so my cane instinctively shot out to balance me and hit the bathroom door with a bang. I was ok except for some sore toes. Camper was concerned.

Always something...

TIG   You have a system that works for groceries.  :)    You are so right! Ouch for your tootsies.  Tim said when he finally settled down.  "That was such a stupid thing I did"   He has fallen before holding something against his stomach so he can't see his path.  Lesson not learned.

BL   You feel our pain LOL

KB   One of the better games the Bears have played this year...

PHYL   I didn't realize you had made those figurines. Very time consuming but was a fun hobby for you at that time.

LISA   Hope it stopped.  Had leaked onto a pillow he had in his lap so that is now soaking.  We will not touch it until later tomorrow.  He's bandaged ( telpha, gauge pressure square, self adhering wrap and an Ace wrap from elbow to wrist). He sees his cardiologist on the 18th and blood thinners will be discussed

My stepmother took ceramics and .i have several of her pieces!  One of  them looks exactly like   a Hummel.   She also painted!  And played classical violin,   Talented lady.
I was 5’5” and now 5’ or 5’1”.  Have to measure.   BL, I dated a fellow who was 6’4”!  Nice to be tall!

Tsk, how is Tim?  Trust you got the bleeding stopped!
i just saw your post!  Good Job!

Good Morning Beakers!

Lani, sounds like Shannon is going to be able to settle in soon! When will Aly and Dewey be home? I know you are so looking forward to seeing them...  Great to see the Pontiff Pooch yesterday!  It was a very nice day here, it got to 61! I got my outside chores done, Erin will be coming Wednesday to take care of the leaves in the back yard, so all is well. I got all the bird feeders cleaned and filled as well!  Sweet pile of sleeping pooches!

tsk, my dad was prone to falling, Mom tried not to leave him alone because he couldn't be trusted to stay put.  She had to run uptown to the grocery store one day and made him promise to just sit and watch tv. She got home 15 minutes later and he was on the floor in the garage. He had decided to sweep the garage while she was gone! It's good that Tim says he shouldn't have done that! Maybe he just needs to get used to being more careful...

tig, I think we all just need to be more careful! Glad you are okay!

Phyl, you did a beautiful job on the Thanksgiving pieces! I took a lot of ceramics classes back in the 70s! One year I made a lot of Christmas gifts, our home was broken into while we were at work on the night shift and the thieves took all of the presents under the tree. I always wondered what they thought when they saw what they got! I cried over all the work and thought I had put into each piece, and it was too late to do more. I made Mom a caroling scene the year before, she still puts it out every Christmas! It looked a lot like this one:

Lisa, sounds like we have a lot of ceramics experience in the Beak! I made so many things, still have several pieces! I was also in charge of pouring and firing for a good while! I loved that job!

Never lie, steal, cheat, or drink. But if you must lie, lie in the arms of the one you love. If you must steal, steal away from bad company. If you must cheat, cheat death. And if you must drink, drink in the moments that take your breath away. ~ Unknown

KAREN    Tim wants to go to the wound clinic at the hospital but I have a feeling unless someone cancels we won't get in.  They only do upper body wounds two days of the week and one is tomorrow.  I suspect we will see if we can get in to the emergent care clinic in town.  He was 6'1" when I married him.  Now I think 5'11"  but he still has all the high shelves in the house  LOL

LANI  Didn't realize Shannon's movers hadn't arrived yet.  Today will be a fun day for her.  Aww  A dog puddle cuddle last night.  :)

CLYNN   Back in 2020 between July and the end of the year ( this is when we sold our place in Door County) Tim fell 13 times!   We had an appt to see a neurologist but it would be 6 months out...I think he got scared and really realized he needed to be careful and pay attention. Sometimes he doesn't make good judgements... He went a whole year without falling after that and now it's about 1 or 2 times a year.  It is astounding  - knock on wood - that he has never broken anything.  This is one of the reasons I don't go away now.  I don't feel like I can leave him alone safely.  He doesn't know that tho.  ;)    My Dad started falling a lot - often backwards - a sign of Parkinson's so I took him to a neurologist and that is what they diagnosed him with - altho later it turned out to be a variant. This began the end of things .
WOW  How crushing to have all those homemade gifts under the tree stolen.  I had a friend that happened to when they were at a funeral/wake.  Their house was robbed of all Xmas gifts.  That's how I learned that you always have someone stay at your house during those times.  Our last home was robbed in broad daylight.  I came home and scared them off but they got away with jewelry and all handmade pieces made by my Dad, and my charm bracelet I'd been filling for years.  Our bedroom was trashed.
My grandma had the same caroling scene!!!    What an amazing view of Windsor Castle - Had no idea it took that much space.

Sorry for the long post  ??? :o
