Yikes on the flooding in your area Baz.
All those washed out roads are going to create some travel headaches for folks in that area.

I don't know your exact location there, but with this tool you can get a pretty good idea of how much rain fell in your neighborhood.

It's radar estimated rainfall in inches from the past 72 hrs.
Scroll the page down and check the box next to Product Readout > then hover cursor on map at your location to get your rainfall amount.

https://mrms.nssl.noaa.gov/qvs/product_viewer/index.php?web_exec_mode=run&menu=menu_config.txt&year=2024&month=9&day=17&hour=17&minute=0&time_mode=static&zoom=9&clon=-77.951539039612&clat=34.226935911634&base=0&overlays=1&mping_mode=0&product_type=q3rads&product=Q3EVAP72H&qpe_pal_option=24&opacity=0.6&looping_active=off&num_frames=36&frame_step=200&seconds_step=240

I saw a readout of over 22 inches (light blue on legend) in an area that I believe is just SW of you !!   :o
I think you got about 8 - 9" by you.

Pain medication masks any pain.

Tsk, sorry to hear Tim is sick!   Spent a few days at Ephraim  many years ago.

Gonna say ' Good Night' before it strikes 12 AM.

Baz tks for those dreadful photos of flooding in Wilmington

Tig glad you both are home 'safe & sound'

Karen those are cute sheds I like the first one too

Lisa
thanks recovery will take some time. But seems like a brand new world has opened up for me.  I  could just cry for joy.

Phyl, glad about your injections! That story was from a Wilmington newspaper, but not most of those pictures. Those photos are from 3 different counties - most all  of them are NOT in Wilmington. But a Wilmington newspaper did the coverage that included those pics. Most of those pics are from several towns in two counties near the county that Wilmington is in.

Lost my post trying to find Brunswick county on the map  LOL

PHYL   YAY  Lots of positives in your future.  Sure is a mood brightener  ;D

BAZI  Looks like all that destruction is north of you mostly?

LISA   Woke up during the night 15 hours after the injection with the sore shoulder LOL

OLDGUY   Did House on the Rock back in the late 80's  Have forgotten much.

LANI   Brave yearling is a smart one  LOL

CLYNN   Rain maybe Monday   Only .04" all month so far

HAPPY BIRTHDAY EAGLES

((TSK)), nope! Most of that damage is immediately to my south and west. And some of it is immediately to my east. The area north of me had almost zero damage!  P.S. I live in North Carolina.  ;)  I hope your soreness is better fast!! Hugs.

Baz tks for photos , such dreadful flooding in Wilmington,  those poor folks; glad you and Zippo are well

...

Phyl, there was some bad flooding in Wilmington, but most of those pictures are not in Wilmington at all. Almost all of those photos were from other towns in 2 different counties near the county that Wilmington is in. Maybe you thought they were in Wilmington because it was a Wilmington newspaper that posted them?

Thanks, BL. I use a tool that gives me that data for my location. My neighborhood got about 9 inches of rain, or a little more - maybe 10 inches - best I can tell right now. The rain amounts were so specific to the exact banding location, and so just a few blocks made a big difference in rain amounts in some places under the larger training bands.

(((TSK and Tim))) I just read about Tim being so sick! I hope it doesn't last very long. Hugs to you both!  :-*

Lani, great story from the Albie chicks, neighbor chick, and BOK!!  :D I just love seeing and reading about those big babies!! :-* :-*

Lisa, I hope you don't get too much rain and wind, but I know it's coming your way very soon, if it isn't there already. I haven't had much time to check the current weather map. You and Jeff stay high and dry!

Waving to All the Beakers!! :)

I attached a picture off the TV during an area's mid-day news today that shows some of the area rainfall totals. You can see how different it is between nearby towns - it all depends on whether the town was right under one of the heavy, mostly stationary, rain bands that trained rain over the same places for hours and hours.

I also attached a picture showing some of the beach erosion at one of the area's beaches - only a few miles from me... that particular beach town had very little flooding in town, but the oceanfront beach erosion from the pounding high surf was awful.
  :(

More pictures to scroll through at this public facebook page - anyone can access and scroll down through them... just "x" out (close) the pop-up page to begin.

https://www.facebook.com/ncweatherauthority/

The pictures there are from all over NC, not just my area of the state.

BL, check out the picture from Duck on that page... Dare County and the Outer Banks are getting a lot of rain today from that same system that hit here yesterday. Also scroll down to a picture of Hwy 12 from earlier today.

BAZI  I know you live in NC.  Apologize if I am a bad map reader LOL

OLDGUY  Will save all those links for tomorrow

Tim is hospitalized with what they don't know but is markedly weak and white blood cells very high.  The "food poisoning" may have just been a red herring.  Please say some prayers.  He looks awful.. :'(

Here is an interesting video on the ancient history of western US that gives one a picture of how the salt beds of Utah got there.

This is Eve. I follow Niall Harbison's twiiter account daily. He saves tons of wild dogs in Thailand.
This is just one of them that brought tears to my eyes...She was burnt but 9 months later she is healed and in Wales climbing mountains. Also raising money for Niall to build a hospital. There are many abused wild dogs in Thailand.

He is just incredible. I've followed him and his pups for a long time.

Enjoy if you want to smile!

awww Little Eve, bless her and her new family. I am a faithful follower of Niall too. What a special man, his staff, Thailand vet, and families that helps him feed over 800 street dogs a day.
