Good Morning! Cool morning with a breeze from  BL but humidity from some place else!  Temps going to mid z80’s.
Phyl, hope you find out what Jim has.   You need appropriate  Care too!

Love the old shows.  Have not seen Gilligans Island in ages!
Glad to see Blue Jays!  Those and Cardinals have disappeared  from my yard.  My backyard neighbor used to feed but he sold the house to his daughter and she does not!  Ido hummers but not the others!  May have to start!  There is a lot to eat around sonI am hoping it is not an environmental issue or worse!

Wiskersnwings  posted a short video this am, from sfl?  She showed bothM and f23 working on the nest!   Will not be long!
Think about Jpalm often and his home on the lovely Keys!  What a fun place to relax and view nature!
Nice Pinks, clynn.   cheerful!
Lisa, have not looked today but yesterday Mobile was not in the cone, or at least not near the center.  Have not even seen it is now a Hurricane!  Looking forward to seeing pictures of baby Pepes!

Bounce

Eating breakfast out for only the second time in 14 days trip. Just gotta have the chocolate chip pancakes! I've been pretty good sticking to my eating plan though. Yesterday I had pork belly ramen bowl at Justin Warner's Bokujo in Rapid City. Yum! Those who watch the Food channel should know him. https://www.bokujoramen.com/
We have been watching lots of old TV shows on these limited hotel systems... Hwy. Patrol, Rifleman, Perry Mason, Virginian, etc.
We lose an hour today. Zzzz
Hugs all
One more night...  :(

Royal Albatross
Top Flat Track chick is 223 days old today. Last week he weighed 9.1 kg which, although below average, was still in the healthy weight range. Both parents have been in to feed him since the last weigh day.

Fledging
Fledging has started a few from further down the hill have left now. All the chicks are practising hovering and holding their wings out in the wind. Their weights drop prior to fledging and mobility increases.

Parents and chicks can recognize each other from at least 50m apart so it is not necessarily an issue if the chicks are not at their nests when the parents come in for those last few feeds. Once the chicks do fledge, a parent may wait near a nest for a while until they decide their chick is not showing up. The parents then head to the waters off South America to feed up for the next 12 months before arriving back to breed again.

Howdy Beakers!  :)

Lani, great video of those sweet special ability pups getting to have a fun romp on the sand by the ocean!  :-* :-*

Lisa, thanks for reminding me - I thought I remembered the NOLA part of your childhood.  :)  Yep, soon-to-be-Hurricane Francine needs to be on your brother's radar, Big Time!! This morning's update said the dry air in the southern Gulf/Bay of Campeche worked into Trop Storm Francine yesterday and essentially split it in half, making it smaller, but still an organized 65-mph Trop Storm this morning. That's why it hadn't become a hurricane overnight and as of this morning, but it still will be a hurricane later today. NOTE: It's updated landfalling forecast track has moved east!! Right now, it's looking like it may make landfall close to/around Morgan City, LA, (BIG storm surge in places, with some areas ordered to evacuate!), then move northeast over NOLA and on over Biloxi, and on toward Mobile, AL. Since that forecast track has moved a bit East, landfall is forecast to be a slightly less strong hurricane of 90 mph, instead of 100mph.  That helps a little, but it also means it will stay over water slightly longer and make landfall slightly later on Wednesday than previously forecast. Of course, that track location, intensity, and timing can all change! I hope your brother stays tuned, and stays safe with no damage!! Fingers crossed!!

((Phyl)), I hope you get a covid test now, too. I hope you won't wait to see how you feel later. No matter Jim's test results. Hope you get a negative result, and you and Jim, both, feel better fast!

Tig, good eats!  ;D

Clynn, the Sydney Sea Eagles are looking good! :-*  BL and OG can be our "Professors" on our 3-Hour Tour!  ;D They will be able to fashion whatever we need using bobby pins and ink pens and paper clips and such from our purses!!  ;D ;D  Good news is that BL likely will not have left home without his satellite phone, so maybe we won't have to wait years and years for rescue! Fingers crossed that solar storms/flares won't disrupt his comm... LOL... Hey, the story writers have to have something to work with here.  8) ;) ;D  :D :D

TSK, thanks for the reminder. I loved JPALM! And his wonderful stories from Key West, and the gorgeous pics of flowers, and life on the island, that he took and shared. I miss doing puzzles with him, too! He PM'd me on occasion, and we shared some travel and family Navy stories with each other that way. Missing him, yes, but also fondly remembering our special JPALM today with such good memories!!  :-*

The Wildlife Commission's biologist/alligator expert and I had a fabulous lengthy conversation by The Pond this morning. He was out to verify/document reported unprovoked aggressive/dangerous behavior of a newly-arrived gator in our pond (NOT SWAMPY!), reported by a neighbor after it chased his pre-school-aged son last weekend. This is not our regular Swampy gator. Swampy hasn't been seen in the last couple of weeks, but this brand new younger/smaller gator showed up in our pond about a couple weeks ago after Swampy moved out (but could come back). This new smaller/younger alligator has bad manners - it has developed decidedly non-normal alligator behavior around people, which is the result of negative human interaction in its past (being fed, etc., which produces very different results in gators than it does in the black bears!), most likely habituating it in that regard wherever it was living prior to it taking up its new residence in our pond just recently. I learned so much from this alligator specialist biologist, which was welcome information, and I now know how to look to discover if an alligator I see in the wild has been noted/documented by the Wildlife Commission before, and how many times. Interesting stuff! We talked a loooong time! I would love to ride along in his truck every day!!  Bottom line, this new smaller alligator is getting ready to have a bad day, and will likely be re-located (safely, without harm) to the Green Swamp - that's the Green Swamp in NC (not the one in Florida), a ways away. The pond will not stay "alligator-less" after that - another gator will move in, but hopefully not one with bad/dangerous behavior toward humans, and Swampy possibly could return, otherwise, a different alligator will move in. I have observed such over the 18-and-a-half years I have lived beside this pond, and the alligator biologist confirmed that would indeed happen.

Later, Gators!  :)

Well, that's weird.

While I was at the hairdresser so I didn't see/hear myself lots of peeps posted vids of 5 F35 fighter jets flying low over Richfield...the airport is just to our east but it's a commercial/international airport, not a military base.

Of course, nobody knows why....lots of speculation though!

Here's a pic of many from the city:
There were 5 different fighter jets. Drills?

KB - the 133rd MANG Airlift Wing is located on the N side of the MSP Airport.  But this would be transport planes, not fighters.  The closest F35 Wing is at Duluth -  MANG 148th Fighter Wing.  It could have been a refueling stop, from or to another base for training.

Thanks Oldguy. Yes I frequently see transport planes over my house, not fighter jets. Yes, thought about the air national guard. It was just so weird. In 25 years haven't heard of so many fighter jets flying out of MSP

"Insider sources" from community members state training exercises, not refueling....hmm.

BAZI  Sounds like OG and BL will be like our "McGivers".  LOL ( MacGyver is a top agent for the Phoenix Foundation, a progressive agency devoted to righting the wrongs of the world. Even more progressive is the genius MacGyver, who never carries a gun and always thwarts the enemy with vast scientific knowledge - sometimes with little more than a paper clip and the duct tape in his pocket.)
Fascinating discussion about the mis- mannered alligator.  I know when one usually sees a raccoon in daytime to be leery .  Could that alligator be ill as well as how it was habituated?

KAREN/LISA   Females always seem to rule the roost  LOLOL

Good Morning Beakers!

Lani, sweet Antali... One by one the Royal Albies take off to soar the ocean. It's already started, we will miss them. Cute look on TF's face, like 'what are you looking at?'.

Phyl, losing a post, we have all been there, done that. You're right, oh well. Haunting good night pic!

tsk, I agree, oldguy is the MacGyver of the Beak. I think BL is the Adventurer, entertaining us with his travels! Both are the Weather Man! Thanks for reminding us of jpalm, the puzzle man with the sound system...

baz, wow on the alligator story, I hope Swampy comes back after they relocate the young whippersnapper!

Lisa, we have been having wonderful weather these past couple of weeks too! Supposed to have a couple of much warmer days today and tomorrow, then back down to the good temps!
