For the Chipmunk in My Yard
By Robert Gibb

I think he knows I’m alive, having come down
The three steps of the back porch
And given me a good once over. All afternoon
He’s been moving back and forth,
Gathering odd bits of walnut shells and twigs,
While all about him the great fields tumble
To the blades of the thresher. He’s lucky
To be where he is, wild with all that happens.
He’s lucky he’s not one of the shadows
Living in the blond heart of the wheat.
This autumn when trees bolt, dark with the fires
Of starlight, he’ll curl among their roots,
Wanting nothing but the slow burn of matter
On which he fastens like a small, brown flame.

Good Morning Beakers.....Happy Labor Day!

Lani - Thanks for the Hellgate pic yesterday, and for the Royal updates.

tig - Glad that you all were able to listen to your church service while driving along.

karen - Sounds like a nice visit from Dr. Hall to catch up.

Phyl - No fireplace at my house either, although I do have a chimney & mantle as the house once had wood stove.  When I moved here, I told Jeff to get rid of it, as Bradley was young and I could see him trying to open it and roast marshmallows in it, or worse...burning the house down! Pretty morning pic.  Thanks for the 365, pretty moth.

kb - Keep us posted if you find out why they are hearing strange noises from the Starliner.  :)

clynn - The Zinnias and Black Eyed Susan's are lovely!

Happy Labor Day!

Yes, Piper was more than thrilled to see her best friend, Dr. Hall!   She bent her body into shoes I would not think possible!  Wagged her tail and tgey played on the floor!
After. While she came over to me like can ignore you?    I said, go play!   So funny.
Zinnias are the best!  May look for a place to plant them next year!   Years ago a friend and I would go to the farmers market in Alexandria, Va early.Saturday morning for fresh veggies and  zinnias!  They last so long!

Just spent 2 hours at my Verizon store trading in my 6 year old Samsung Galaxy 8 for a spanking new S24.  Now will spend the rest of the day registering and getting it set up.  sigh.

PHYL  Very cut chipmunk friend.  ;) ;)

LISA   Well when you consider a new phone comes out once or twice a year ..  The 25 comes out soon he told me.   It is much faster and is 5G so right away I see that change.  It has AI running in the backround they tell me ...so much I will never use.

Off to burgers at Barb and Tom's

Some hard core bwca types ventured in via by boot & boat.  8)

Alongside a winged watercraft parked at Scott's cabin.

The bonfire is just so MN appropriate.   :)

Bounce
A  l o n g  day, but beautiful. I drove the Beartooth Highway and Camper wore himself out getting out and back in the car to take pics.
We found our cabin for the next 3 nights and now we are enjoying a burger and malt at a local 50s place.

So far, we have seen hundreds of bison, some elk, 3 deer, a couple of hawks that tried to hit us, and a chipmunk 🐿️ .
