Puffling Ama fledges! (Audubon Puffin Cam, 7/24/24).

FLEDGING!!!! JULY 24, 2024! 🎉

At approximately 2:50 a.m. this Wednesday morning, Ama took her big flight, fledging at 42 days old! This momentous occasion is joyous, but also saddening. Though we will not see this feisty busybody of a puffling in the burrow anymore, we can take comfort in the fact that Willie and Millie did a fantastic job raising her. 💕

Photo of pre-fledge Ama taken by one of the Seal Island researchers yesterday. Cute hairdo!  :-*

Tonight, sweet Mama Millie is dreaming sweet memories of Ama.

Good Morning Beakers!

Lani, Ama has fledged! Yay!  All those young Puffins watching, perfect! I wonder if that was the take-off spot? Remembering Bob, another picture from Decorah 2011, E1, E2 & E3, the eaglets that started it all!:

Phyl, great video of Billy Joel and the kids! And there's Bob, always here for Caturday! I never knew about the cat blood pressure cuff, it's a super miniature of the human kind!  Great pic of the deer and the sunrise over the retention pond! And the English tudor style buildings, love it!

tsk, ah, the mimeograph machine!  For a couple of years I made the Sunday bulletin for the morning church service on the mimeograph! I loved it, and I got to pick out the hymns to be sung! Oh, I hated making a mistake, not so easy to correct...but the smell was good!

tsk - I know that aleve doesn't contain aspirin. But, Doc doesn't want me taking anything like Advil, Aleve...too similar to aspirin in allergy medicine.

Jason McCarty writes:
This is one of those times where if I told you what happened you wouldn't believe me. One of those "pictures or it isn't true moments" Well I have the proof and here is the story. Yesterday, my wife Jennifer got on her floatie and was out in the lake. Slowly but surely she ended up about 2/3 the way across the lake. I got out my measurement app on my phone and figured she was 1200 feet away from me about. That's not the story though. When she was out there, the loons spotted her and slowly made their way to check her out. You can see the progression in the pictures. In the second shot, the loon has a fish and I thought what's it going to do feed her? The first one kept diving and swimming under her. Then it almost looked like it was sitting in her lap. The other loon came on over to check her out as well. Once that happened, both loons continued to the north. Just amazing to see from my perspective. Jen said that they got less than 10 feet away from her. I heard of swimming with dolphins but loons? And some might question if she jumped off from a boat. Nope that didn't happen cause I don't own one.

Multiple pictures taken by him that shows his story.

I'd say this is Heaven!

TIG   Caught some beach volleyball this afternoon.  Wish I could spend more time watching.   Synchronized pairs diving always amazes me.
