For those "listening" in to Tsk and Me and others familiar to the area - we do have some great areas.  Sometimes out of the blue.  I mentioned last year when I did jury duty (outside in DuPage county) and sat to finish my tea in the car when I got hook on watching the falcons that were nesting on the building nooks and crannies.  In talking to a county police on duty inside he put me on to the fields around the facility.  Tried it twice, recommended on weekends.  Lots of new critters to see; it is a fun and interesting watch.  I haven't been there lately.  I'm also intending to go to a get-together on Thursday with Forest Preserve District of Cook County at a local spot, for seniors which does "hikes".  I've been there on my own - but I thought I'd go to a thing on Thursday and share with them about RRP event.  Some of these things take hours and long hikes, which I have to do on my own and at my own pace.  Wishing I was at least 10 years younger, more able.

And then I get back to the 50's - 70's.   Ahhhh memories.  I was spending a lot of "breaks" in Las Vegas, couple times a year.  That was when they had STARS and not revues.  I have a large bags of pics and autographs.  Best was to hang around after late shows when they'd recoup in the lounge after showtime.
Two fun times:  Sitting on Cleopatra's Ark at Caesars Palace with Harry Belafonte and Dionne Warwick, getting tipsy as the "boat" rocked.  Or how about the time "Mike" , the first husband, and I were placed at a bad table next to/behind a curtain where we couldn't really see the show on stage.  He was really teed off - until the curtain went up and we were sitting on the stage.  That was with Carol Lawrence/Robert Goulet.  Sad thing, one of my favorites ELVIS I was never able to get to see.  :-\   Did I mention that Elvis and I had the same birth day - but not the same year.  He was 9 years older.  Also did I mention that Ton and I got married at the Little Chapel of the Bells (on the strip, next to a shoe store, in a shopping mall).  ;D

Would have been 46 years this August 1.

Fav of this representative "other generation"  Elvis, Frankie Avalon, Fabian, and yes, James Garner.

Leaving memory lane - thanks for the time.

Puff - As a Western Airlines Flight Attendant between 1972-1978, we as a crew often over-nighted at a Las Vegas Hotel. As well the owner of the airlines owned the hotel/hotels. I tried to find the name but nothing came up. Of course, free great seats too.

Consequently, we saw Elvis, Engelbert Humperdinck, and Tom Jones among other less well known entertainers. Western Airlines had a very interesting history/back story.

https://www.dalrc.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/Thumbnail-Sketch-Of-Western-Airlines.pdf

We were at the time the Champagne Airline and handed out as much champagne for free as anyone wanted.

Only flew the Western Half of the US plus Honolulu, Mexico City, Anchorage, and Canada.

Those were the days... ;)

For a big chunk of my first three years then called probation?...on call...I often flew a 737 8 hopper between Mpls and Los Angeles. Many of those flights were app. 20 minutes and no beverages were served.
Also later flew the 727, 720B's and lastly the DC10

CLYNN   Enjoyed " Here's to us"   ;) ;)  Boy, when it rains it pours - What was Linda in rehab for - I've forgotten..sigh  Never hurts to have additional, more informative, tests for A. June - glad they are doing that.  (((Cathy)))  Aslo loved Maverick and RF and anything James Garner was in.  Frankly I don't trust GPS so I always find the route on my PC and keep it as a back up.  I sort of knew where I was going but keep wanting to practice with my GPS.  I think Waze is more accurate overall.  Yes Barrington overall is very ritzy!  But in town, the houses are more normal.   Those two North siblings sure do stay together.  Am not sure we have seen that too often.

PUFF   LOL  Loved your Vegas stories  ;D ;D  You and Ton married at a Vegas chapel - Who knew  ;D

KB   You had a lot of flight attendant experiences all those years.

clynn - That is exactly how my hair looks when I take that first morning sip!  ;D I am pretty sure that the houseboat is anchored on some lake.  You might have to drive it to the spot where you want to anchor.  I need to read up on it.  Prayers for Aunt June, Aunt Linda and Cathy!  My mom had reoccurring pancreatitis.  I hope Cathy's is not too bad.

Puff - I ditto what tsk said, loved your Vegas story.

tsk - That is me too...don't trust GPS, so print out my route before I travel.   And, sometimes I still miss the exit!  ;D ;D ;D

Lani - After all of that, I would be needing a nap too!  Cute pups!

Good night, everyone!

Phyl, I was not too clear in my post about JG!  He was in the military of and stationed  in Korea!  He was injured and was a patient in a Mash  hospital!   He was a truly nice person and I think  not at all affected my his good looks!
Robert Mitchum spent two days at the hospital!  Talked a lot about his kids!  He was  a favorite of  all  of us women as his secretary thoughtfully sent him off with a ton of lipsticks!   I met many others and most were very unassuming!  The two exceptions were Nancy
Sinatra and, .Ann Landers!
Robert Mitchum was in Mobile many years after the  war and I went to the set where he was filming!  I asked to see him and was told he was in make up!  I said, oh, I was sorry as I wished to thank him for his visit to vn!  The man said, wait a minute and I was quickly escorted to his trailer!  I was surprised he seemed to remember me and the hospital!   The pleasant side of war.

Howdy Beakers!

I'm watching The Weather Channel, getting news about Beryl... the next update on its status (strength/motion/track, etc.) will be in about an hour from now - at about 11pm (Eastern), so I'm going to watch that. It will be making landfall in a few hours. I heard earlier today that Harris County Metro (trains and buses) planned to shut down at 10 pm tonight, but I don't know if that's for the whole county or not, and most all Houston flights are cancelled for tonight and tomorrow. Prayers for all in the path of that storm.

Clynn, prayers for your Aunt June and your sister Cathy, and hope you get some encouraging news from them soon. All best for your Aunt Linda heading home from rehab. I hope she is progressing well. (((Hugs to you and all of your family.)))

I forgot about Caturday yesterday! But my sister's Etta didn't! Here she is in all her Caturday 'tude yesterday.   ;D :-*
