Bl, stay warm and safe!   This is a storm system that I do not understand!  Has to be multiple systems converging at your house!   Take care!

Karen it's really just one huge nasty low pressure system that's going to bring trouble to a whole lot of the USA.  ::)

You and Baz need to keep a very keen eye on the weather in your 2 areas tomorrow.

Slide your cursor over the times/dates at the top of the map. You'll get the gist.

Phyl - Wow, an authentic German Stollen, that must have been delicious!  How is Jim?  Is he feeling better?  Thanks for the 365, and for the link on the solar eclipse.

tig - A nice warm pool sounds wonderful. I hope you got your Panda Express after all your hard work!

Lani - Oh my 9°, you are very chilly this morning.  Did you get your shoveling done?

clynn  - Yikes, on that iceberg!  LOL, the cough syrup ingredients!

BL - Thanks for the weather link.

E4E
- Hope you enjoy your visit with hubby's sister and fiance'.   :)

kb - LOL, tiger and two coyotes!  Yikes, on that truck slip sliding away.

tsk - Not a bad price for those puzzles, and you did them in good time, too.  You sure did deserve that Blizzard.  Mmm, Culver's...love those ButterBurgers!

karen - You had another busy day.

Good night, everyone!

Well, Lori and I have really over stayed our alloted time today.  It is so sweet to hear from our bird buddies.  And then, too, all those delicious low-cal cakes. . .yummy.

Memory lane time - for those from the 2011 inductees to the group, do you recall Alice Witt?  She helped me out getting addicted and with some of the steps and areas we had available.  I believe about 2013 we found that we had the same birth date.  Not just the month and day, but the year.  My note from her this year gave me a new title "birthday sister".  If my old-person mind is still clear for the day, I know I was born about 8 pm, she was born during the day.  Makes her older.  ;)

Also, coincidentally, she's from the area.  We both live west of Chicago, she's north of me and around O'Hare.  Actually, tsk, she's close to you.

But I like that new title "Birthday Sisters".

Thanks again to all for spreading the good wishes.  HUGS to you all.

BL, I read your report, you've got a lot of rain coming from all directions. Yes, charging anything and everything. I hope you have a generator too....  I pray you, Pip and Kopje will be safe. Prayers for all to be safe.... Love the House Proud Welsh Tidy Mouse! LOL! Great story, and a keeper for sure!  ;D

Clynn, Tillamok Peppermint Bark Ice cream is a seasonal product. We found it in the valley in early November, and saved it for Mike for the holidays.... iceberg looks like the Titanic floating by... I can't believe the ingredients in the cough syrub. Yikes!

Kb, oh my "Tiger attacked by two coyotes!" Too cute! ... do you know there's a Greasy, Oklahoma?!  ;D

Tig, I removed the snow off our driveway, entry and patio today.... Doing the Y and then removing snow, you deserve that warm drink and Panda Express. What movie did Camper see?

Tsk, My goodness! You helped take Christmas down at church... "Then swiffered, washed and Quick shined wood floors, and it's your second January project done! And it's only January 8th! WOW! What vitamins are you taking and yes, you deserve a Concrete Blizzard. Did you eat it in the car, away from Tim?  ;D

Phyl, wolf had its tail between it legs running quickly across the open field. I hope all was well for it... thanks for the Live Science... I hope Jim is feeling better.

Karen, you've had a busy day too. I hope you gave yourself a treat!  ;D Mike surprised me with a carrot cake after my busy day.  ;D

Puff, I hope you're feeling better and had a nice birthday... I remember Alice Witt, she was very nice and friendly to new forum members.. She shared many valuable info about eagles, I learned a lot from her, I think there was a couple of eagle cams she was a mod on..... That's wonderful you both are in contact with each other "Birthday Sisters". :)

Lisa, Yes, I got the shoveling done. When are you leaving for your mom's?

Good night!

Thinking of Clynn, sending Heavenly birthday prayers to Kay!

What’s Up? NASA’s January Skywatching Tips

https://science.nasa.gov/skywatching/whats-up/
The moderate Quadrantid meteor shower is active from Dec. 28 to Jan. 12. The moon will wash out faint meteors, but the shower often produces bright "fireball" meteors.

Look for brilliant Venus rising with a slim crescent moon in the southeast, in the hour before sunrise, on Monday, Jan. 8. The moon will appear very close to the bright red star Antares, appearing to pass in front of the star for observers in parts of the Western U.S. On Jan. 13 and 14, the crescent moon will be visible with Saturn for observers in the southwest for a couple of hours following sunset.

If you have access to a telescope or binoculars, January 14–20 is a great week to pull them out. The presence of the first quarter moon makes for great viewing opportunities as you sweep across the sky, exploring the Moon, then Jupiter and its moons, the Pleiades, the Hyades, and the Orion Nebula.

Good Morning Beakers!

Phyl, thanks for the NASA sky watching tips! Talon got a telescope for Christmas, I am going to send him some information! Cute little ermine popping up to scope the situation... Lovely blue coffee cup this morning, and the blueberry pancakes! I know what you mean about it being hard to get medical appointments! And then the snow!  I am supposed to have my appointment with the retinal specialist this morning at 9:00, but it's still snowing. They won't plow the residential streets until the snow stops, which will be around 2:00 or so. We are on the corner of our street and one of the more important streets, so Ed thinks he can make it to the clinic, about a mile away. I am going to call first and see if the doctor was able to make it to the clinic!

Lani, I did find one holiday Tillamook ice cream, just one time. It was Sugar Cookie Dough, it was good!  It's beautiful outside right now, looks like we have about 6" and it's still coming down...

Puff, I remember Alice Witt, she was one of the original members of the forum. I hope she is doing well! I can't remember what the forum was called then! When I was still working we had four of us in the same department with the same birthday - May 6th!

tsk, you are the Energizer Bunny, I think I have called you that before!

Phyl - Thanks for the links from NASA, the 365, and I wish you and Jim good luck at the doctor this week!

I hope all Beakers are safe and warm!

GOOD MORNING

Not happening yet!

PHYL   I enjoyed my ice cream but now back to sensible eating today.  ;) ;)   Thanks for the 10 cities to witness the solar eclipse.  Wish I was one of them  LOL

KAREN   Do you still have your home health aide?  You sure are keeping yourself busy in a way that tells me you may have dismissed the help?

PUFF   Did Alice Witt use her real name in posting.  I think I remember her..  What burb is she in?  Did/does she volunteer for an animal rescue group?  Birthday sisters - cute  :)

LANI   Tim left for Door County yesterday knowing full well there would be "blizzard" conditions up there today.  Sure hope he can stay safe....He will be back tomorrow if the weather allows.  Feels he's invincible  :( ??? :-\   Hope that carrot cake had a cream cheese frosting  LOL

PHYL  The whole country is in turmoil these days - Lots of tornado warnings in the southeast I hear this AM.  Well at least you and Jim will have some answers this week.   Love the little " jack in the box" ermine  ;D

CLYNN  Good idea to make sure doc is there first  LOL  Sure hope you get that appt today.  What a coincidence that 4 of your office workers had the same b-day - the odds  LOL   Interesting fact that Juneau has no road access  Yikes

LISA   Another cozy AM pic  :D

clynn Been there, seen it many times, but that's a brand new perspective of Juneau.  Yep, no way to get there but fly in or float in.  There is a partial train connection but then you have to pick up ferry/shuttle.  It's worth it though - did y'all appreciate that view!!!!

Waiting for the storm to come and go!   Phyll, will take your wind!  We have7 mph predicted and I hope it does  not materialize.  Several tornados reported in the Florida panhandle!  No damage reports as they are continually tracking this potentially  dangerous mess!
Got up this am to the call from Code Red.  Had been laying in bed with Piper thinking the storm had by passes us  but jumped up. Got dressed and  made coffee, let Piper out and dashed to the street to get the trash receptacle!  It was already blown over.  Got it righted and  in the garage!   Dark as pitch so am hoping the  power holds!  Trees in back of me are leaning from the hurricane and if they fall can hit the fence and power line.   WishI had talked to them abour these  trees!
Any way, that is life here in Paradise!
Tsk, I still have the help but I do need to cancel them!  Really just need a housekeeper every two weeks!   Maybe a driver!
Severe-thunder storm warning just  posted.
Clynn,  hope you  got to the doctor safely!   I know you have many questions!
Doctor appointments are hard to get  in December as people are going  to be seen before the first of tge yrar as their deductibles have been paid!  Then there is an increase i. Covid, rsv and flu along with the crazy cough!  Phyl, you have been seen for your nose, just notthe ent!
Pouring rain now and just had another code red call!
Remember Alice!  Very pleasant lady.
Clynn, my dads birthday was May 7th!   Bbl, power willing!

P

This view of Juneau is not unfamiliar to me either---
In 2005 when Jim was flying for his last employer Doane Pet Care Inc, he and Rodney  (and me as I was invited) took the Hawker and flew there to meet our company's president (family) who had taken a cruise with a potential client and his family  to Alaska and her coast.  There were no other passengers as Rodney's wife couldn't come along ( :() as she worked and wasn't allowed time off.  So ---when Jim put wheels down to land on Sitka, Island; he told me to un buckle and move to the cockpit to view. the landing from the pilot's perspective.  It was a thrill.  And, I love thrills. Took a ferry to Juneau. Did the same when we left.
I remember shopping in a chain store called 'Galligaskins'. (British for very loose trousers; breeches worn in the 16th and 17th centuries. Chiefly British  leather leggings, gaiters,)   They had a line of children's' clothing called "Perry Otter'.   A bit of a play on the 'Harry Potter' books. LOL
There were a couple of other 'tag alongs' Alaska way none more than over night---exects were along.  :(
