My beater is an '09 Challenger BL.  Spoiled as all get out.  Because of where I had to drive into (Chicago) when teaching I went through three cars before him/HR.  Each of those guys I would drive a hundred miles a day until about  100,000 and then start shopping.  Couldn't chance breaking down in case of. . .well you know big city!  And that's when the city was safe.  Retired 1994, now work out of home.  My HR is almost ready to turn 48,000.  Yep! That's all.  Now it's spoiled but good.  He even has a heated garage.

BTW my '71 was a Charger.  Sold it to my brother with 150,000; he took it to 260,000.  First car, 1966 Plymouth BeepBeep, 71 Charger, 75 was the pig Buick Electra Ton talked me into, 78 Monte Carlo, 87 garbage version of MC, then Challenger.

Thirteen/fourteen years old now.  We have a contest going - who's going to last longer, him or me.  8)  ;D

P

Puff I'm putting good money on you.   :)

Any School Teacher that can wheel a 75' Electra in and out of the windy city.

It sucked gas but had gravitas.  ;)

We use to take the tank into NYC back in the day just to mess with the cabbies.

Got hold of one with a 1/4 keg in the trunk and the umbilical cord snaked through the rear deck between the speakers.

What could possibly go wrong.

I've absolutely got cheeks over here.

Sideways on a highway one stormy winter day.

The maple tree decided to just jump out and passenger halve my conveyance.

I think to this day my right knee aches because of this very hard tree assaulting my vehicle.

The Maple tree on that County Road I was traveling on at the time struck my vehicle.

BL   Funny description of your rides!!!   ;) ;)   Great story about your much loved hand me down '72 Blazer  ;D

LISA   It was a Purdue and did not have skin on it...I seasoned it with a recipe rather than use the "gravy" that came with it

KB   Hang on to your Jeep as long as you can.  They just don't make cars like they used to.  Did Chris's friend have the Forester or Outback?   What a miracle for that little foal.  Such a good video - thanks

KAREN   I answered your e-mail with two links I thought were good.  Your HHA or housekeeper should help you tho.  Am not familiar with a "vibrator thing" that corrected the problem.

EAGLES  A purrito kitty  ;D    Yes we did the 17 mile drive as well.  Great scenery.  ;D

BAZI   You are spot on with what you said.   I do not try and do any amount of steps /day but know many people that do using smart watches, fitbits or their phone app..   Ortho told Tim once is " all I want you to do is 30 min of walking every single day with no stopping.  Don't care if it is fast or slow, just do it"   Just being mobile throughout the day is so important to keep those ole joints lubed up  LOL    I'm familiar with the bursts of intensity  in a routine.   When I'm on the treadmill I will do so maybe 3 minutes at one speed and then hike it up a few notches at a faster speed for a minute and then back down to the slower speed.  There are a variety of ways you can do this.   In the summer - just a regular walk is fine with me  LOL

Good Morning Beakers!

Lani, hope you and Mike are feeling better this morning!

Phyl, love Bob with his scarf! 26 here, high 42 with sunshine! Good 365, lots of frogs! And they were so quiet!  Yhanks for Amy's Blog, hope we get Egg #2 today!

tsk, I appreciate your little hints on physical activity! When I was working a friend and I went on walks in the building everyday. It was easy to get 10,000 steps in. walking on flat carpeted surfaces!

BL, my second car back in the early 70s was a 64 Chevy Impala, RED inside and out. I kept a case of oil in the trunk. When I pulled up to get gas at the service station we always said 'fill the oil and check the gas'. Gas was 23.9 cents a gallon. Sounds like the Tank had quite a history!

baz, about the doctor, I meant that she has me taking Atorvastatin, a low dose aspirin, and Ozympic. All to prevent any calcium bits from causing a stroke.

E4E, sweet kitty in the clam shell bed! Sam and Sophie find some interesting places to sleep...sometimes I can't find them! But all I have to do is clang the food dishes and they come running!

Erin and family at the car show!

Lisa, this bridge picture popped up in FB, what do you think?  :o At least on your bridge you have water beneath!

The Aizhai Bridge is a suspension bridge on the G65 Baotou–Maoming Expressway near Jishou, Hunan, China.

Never lie, steal, cheat, or drink. But if you must lie, lie in the arms of the one you love. If you must steal, steal away from bad company. If you must cheat, cheat death. And if you must drink, drink in the moments that take your breath away. ~ Unknown

Just came across this and thought it was perfectly said!!!
They call us ”The Elderly”
We were born in the 40-50-60’s.
We grew up in the 50-60-70's.
We studied in the 60-70-80's.
We were dating in the 70-80-90's.
We got married and discovered the world in the 70-80-90's.
We venture into the 80-90’s.
We stabilize in the 2000’s.
We got wiser in the 2010’s.
And we are going firmly through and beyond 2020.
Turns out we've lived through EIGHT different decades...
TWO different centuries...
TWO different millennia...
We have gone from the telephone with an operator for long-distance calls to video calls to anywhere in the world.
We have gone from slides to YouTube, from vinyl records to online music, from handwritten letters to email and Whats App.
From live matches on the radio, to black and white TV, colour TV and then to 3D HD TV.
We went to the Video store and now we watch Netflix.
We got to know the first computers, punch cards, floppy disks and now we have gigabytes and megabytes on our smartphones.
We wore shorts throughout our childhood and then long trousers, Oxfords, flares, shell suits & blue jeans.
We dodged infantile paralysis, meningitis, polio, tuberculosis, swine flu and now COVID-19.
We rode skates, tricycles, bicycles, mopeds, petrol or diesel cars and now we drive hybrids or electric.
Yes, we've been through a lot but what a great life we've had!
They could describe us as “exennials”; people who were born in that world of the fifties, who had an analog childhood and a digital adulthood.
We've kind of “Seen-It-All”!
Our generation has literally lived through and witnessed more than any other in every dimension of life.
It is our generation that has literally adapted to “CHANGE”.
A big round of applause to all the members of a very special generation, which will be UNIQUE!
-Author unknown
Keep on keeping on!

My sister re-posted this and I love it!

Whenever young people in my city constantly respond to adults concerned about over and ugly development destroying structurally sound homes  they say: "Old people are just afraid of change"

I'm now going to post above!....LOL....they know not how much we've been capable of change. They just use that "expression afraid of change" cause they want more ugly apartments, more bike lanes etc.

No bounce

Would appreciate prayers for the families of 2 police officers and 1 paramedic shot and killed this morning in a Twin Cities suburb. Preliminary reports say the officers were killed while responding to a domestic and the paramedic was killed while trying to save an officer.  >:(  :'(  :'(
There may be at least one other officer shot also. The scene is still active. Prayers for the family of the shooter also.
UPDATE... just learned the 3rd officer has also died.  >:(

thanks for this info, tig...this must have just posted and encrypted as I didn't hear read anything in all the crime pages I read this morning.

I'm so absolutely sick of this...and a very nice suburb of Minneapolis not far from the Minnesota Zoo.

Heading out for a walk....later.
