Awesome, Lisa, to see the long-distance pics from N4 late this afternoon.   ;D
Is there a map on the Decorah site that indicates where N4 is located?
My pics area about the same as yours, and the cam ops get gold stars for finding these eagles today.

From my understanding it is still located behind the Walmart, and close to where the other nest fell down that they had built.

For all their size, eagle nests seem to be fairly fragile, and fall pretty often!

The Bald Eagle nest itself is not at all fragile I can assure you !

Pip & I cut a fairly good rug in a abandoned BE nest 1 night.

Tied in from good wood above.

It's all about the TREE.

Safest correct crotch is always the key.

Think constantly weight absorbing BE flying beaver lumber from natural earth materials flown up into a tree.

It's all about the Location, L, L , tree type, leverage, weight mathematics that is the fragile variable that we humans are aware of.   ;D

I really don't think they think about it at all as it's there merciless genetics & evolutionary drive to just build and add to the nest.  :-*

STLbf  this is the general location of Mom and DM2's nests behind the Walmart on the Upper Iowa River in Decorah.

They have built two nests (N3 & N4) in this general area.
See Map Images attached below.

2020 - They left N2B and the Hatchery area.

2021 - Mom Decorah & DM2 moved about 1.7 miles to the NE behind the Walmart on the banks of the UIR. They built a new nest dubbed N3.
They successfully had 3 eaglets fledge from N3 in 2021. D37, D38 and D39.

2022 - The N3 nest "failed". No known Eaglets.

2023 - They built another nest very near N3 dubbed N4.
The N4 nest produced no known eaglets in 2023.

2024 - Mom & DM2 - D40 successfully fledges from N4.   :) :) :)    8) 8) 8)

Updated Decorah Eagles nest records .pdf also attached.
If anyone notices any discrepancies from the official RRP records don't hesitate to let me know and I will correct it.
I use the "simplified" D naming convention in the early years to cut down on the confusion.  ;D

BrokenLug, your general area looks pretty much like the area that I seen when I went to ATF.

BL, thanks for the maps!  I've never been there in person, so these are really helpful for "long-distance" viewing.   ;)

Everything green looks lush from all the rain.  N1 is producing a salad bar.  I enjoyed the "old" view of the Y this morning, thanks to the cam ops.

Lisa, yes likely to be HM.  That's a favorite perching spot for her.

Lisa, good catch of the pic of HD on the Spooky Tree.  Wonder if the Hatchery eagles will reclaim N1 or continue with building N6!    The N2B cam is on Highlights, so no idea what condition it is in.  I'm sure there will be much speculation during ATF.

Game delayed for 5-6 months, STL.  Patience is a virtue.    :-\
