Very interesting morning in DE, HD was spotting in the pines by hatchery raceways before flying off.  Vocals from HM were heard above the cams, before flying out.  Vocals from HD was heard above the cams, he perched for a while before heading out to a lower bluff tree where he joined up with HM to perch.  Does this mean they had a failed nesting season?

Lisa, Great pics of HM and HD, but it's not encouraging to see them perching together!  Hope someone makes a trek to the new nest area to investigate soon.

At the N2B goose nest, it's a quiet morning.  In the blog about the kerfluffle with an intruder laying an egg in this nest the other day, Amy used a different  code for the goose names:  PG and MG.  Maybe that means "Pop" and "Mom" goose???   Maybe no one cares what we call them, but in the interest of  less confusion when we post pictures and make comments,  does someone have an official recommendation?

Morning pics from Decorah - HD was on the lower bluff tree, HM arrives a short time later.  Both flew out, and HM returns a bit later and HD arrives.  HD leaves again, returns to the right back side of tree.  Looks like he might have went and got something to eat.

Lisa, HM and HD have been in the generally same location since early this morning, and I'm posting just before noon.  It's chilly,  windy, and rainy in this part of Iowa.  This does not bode well for BE eggs or eaglets for this pair.

Nothing special going on at either of the goose nests so far today.

Today looks like it might be a copy of yesterday at Decorah.

HM & HD were seen perched in the horse pasture tree, close to N1 on Siewers Spring Rd., and HM above the Y

Interesting morning, HM & HD are back in the same tree by horse pasture this time bringing sticks.  Looks like a nest is taking shape.  HD down by the pond, looked like he wanted to fish, but decided against it.

Here's an interesting thought Lisa.  Off and on lately either HM or HD have been checking in for the status of the nest.  And, it looks like we'll soon have an empty nest and a half dozen geesies.  What if, wonder if HM and HD are keeping some possible space for a renest in mind????

Lisa, it certainly looks like HM and HD are moving sticks and starting a new nesting site!  They might be using an old crow nest or squirrel nest as the base.  And if it's kind of between N1 and N2B, that will be in camera range.  Also, the goose eggs will hatch in a couple weeks and those babies leave their nests in a day or two.  Optimism abounds!

h ha smart minds on the same journey = danger STL  My other thought though is how late in the beginning season is it within time frame to lay and hatch eaglets?  Anyone have the facts/numbers?

I would think if they were thinking of re-clutching that would be putting eggs due sometime in May, or June.  YIKES, all I can think of is it will be hot and black flies.

Eagles have re-clutched and hatched late in the season, with not good results.  Hatchlings can't deal with high temperatures and the black flies, and died in a few days as I recall.  Will check the nest records to see when and where.  It was at the Decorah North nest with Mr and Mrs N.  See in pic attached below.

Early morning pics from DE - from the sound of vocals HD might have spent the night near the new lil starter nest and HM flew in a lil later when seen. A few sticks were brought in, they flew over to below the bluffs and did some fishing and headed back towards N1 area.  Both were spotted on the Goose Cam, so they must have been near the N2B area.
