Clynn -

kb, this year has really taken a toll on the planet. It's getting scary...

Perhaps?...but I can only deal with my own home...I'm not scared.

Turtle says to lion: "Stop drinking my house"

Morning all...
Boy you all were up late last night, or um, I am an early bird....but then you all are up early this morning!
No need for sleep? ;)

Interesting to me that some of you have actually been to the Falls!..looking at you BL and Baz
your relative.
I read from a few people, one whom flew all the way from Norway to see them, were disappointed that nothing was flowing..

Posted 12 Hours ago:

After an 8 day absence, V3 returned to the nest yesterday. He may have a few fresh scrapes on his feet but he looks great. Neither "visitor" has been seen the last two days. V3  and Gabby have roosted together at the Lumber yard sleeping tree last night and tonight.

Curiously, I have yet to see a "Tower" on my water tower yet and it's almost October....too many humans going up and down? Vi saw the humans up there just a few days ago.
Humans: "knock it off"...they've been told bald eagles perch up there and they don't care...of course.

currently 56 - high of 73 today

Kb - Still a beautiful Minnehaha Falls, but it is more beautiful with free-flowing water as when you posted it during the Spring!
Loved the 'stop drinking my house' - cute vid, but wow - sort of worried about the little turtle at that moment! ;D

BL - Your Minnehaha Falls filled with ice are amazing.

Oldguy - Thank you for explaining the North Shore trees.

Tig  :)

Phyl - Hope all goes well with your PC updates!  Cute morning pic!  Loved Nature red deer resting  :)

Baz  :)

Lani - Love your 'nite' pic.  Otis looking good!  Have a nice trip into the valley today and try to stay cool - sounds like a fun day  8) ;D

Clynn - Venice Simplon-Orient Express is Amazing - thank you for posting!   Love the Wild Heart Ranch early morning pic  :)   Like the email blog you posted - it sure reminded me of how it was when I was growing up - those really were the best days to grow up in!

LisaG - I too make a point of loading my digital discounts before going to Safeway  :)  Sometimes (not always) I find a $10.00 off coupon in the sales ads that get delivered to our mailbox each week!

Happy heavenly birthday to JPalm - you are missed

Beakers have a nice day  :)

LANI   You will need to bear the heat to get errands done today.  Sounds like a fun day however  ;D    Sweet Otis  :-*

CLYNN   Prices close to what I was thinking.  Wonder if they have "senior rates"  LOLOL   Couldn't agree more about our great generation.

KB   Loved that lion and turtle  ;D ;D ;D    Saw that yesterday that V3 was back.  Kinda tense there for awhile.

clynn - I use to let Bradley use my gas rewards too, but there is no Safeway near him.  He shops at Giant, and they have a gas rewards program, too.  Love the, WE ARE A GENERATION THAT WILL NEVER COME BACK. So true.

kb - V3 is looking good.  Glad to see him back. Hope your Towers show up soon.

E4E - Oh, I have rarely got those $10 coupons in the mailbox.  I shop at Acme too, which is owned by Safeway or vice versa.  Same stuff in the stores, and all the same perks.

My sis posted that generation post in her fb feed a few days ago....got me thinking about this statistic sadly:

Baby boomers are now the fastest-growing group of homeless Americans, in a mounting crisis the country hasn't seen since the Great Depression. People over age 55 accounted for 19.8% of shelter residents in 2021, per government data; in the years since, major metro areas like Miami and Denver have seen huge increases.

they are now calling it a Silver Tsunami....sad, esp when we are blamed by youngins for all their problems.

Clynn, oops...I think I would only be purchasing 82 percent of one of those fabulous Orient Express trips using that calculation.  ;)  It's the other way around... so, at that exchange rate, it would cost about 1.22 USD for each pound sterling of the trip price... so multiply the pound sterling trip price by 1.22 to get the cost in USD.  That generation piece sure brings back a lot of fun memories!  :)  Nice "Song Around The World/Playing For Change."  :)

Tig, glad all went well.

Phyl, did you install Windows 11 today? And it's working?? I'm not going to tempt that on my PC just yet.  ;)

Lani, hope your outing with Mike today is a fun time. Every time I go to Trader Joe's to pick up one or two things, I come out with an armful.  :D

Lisa, mmm... fried okra! Hard to pass up!!

Karen, I hope all is well at your place... I saw potential flooding rains forecasted for your area... I hope you and Piper stay high and dry!

Happy remembrances of JPALM on his birthday.  :)  He is missed.

Lisa, we don't have a Safeway anywhere near here! Just Hy-Vee and Fareway. I do remember a Safeway when we lived in New Mexico, it was just down the street. I was in 1st grade and part of 2nd. I looked up the house we lived in, the first house Dad and Mom ever bought. We didn't live in base housing. It was a tiny house, my dad built a little bump out so we could have a place for a table and chairs... 1112 Utah Ave, Alamogordo NM. That would have been 1958/59. 925 sq. ft. I'll have to ask Mom what they paid for it, it says value now is $100,400. I thought one time she said they paid $7,000.

Well, that was a tangent I got off on...  ::) ::)

tsk, I would love to ride on the Orient Express! And I would love to take one of those longboat tours along the Thames in England, and a cruise on the Columbia River in Oregon... we can dream... ;D

E4E, yes, life was so different for us than for the kids today. I can't imagine how it will be when Talon and Bella are grown up, they are so connected to technology...

kb, you just deal with your own home, that is enough.

Lani, I read on the Wild Heart Ranch today that Dan was mowing out on the land with a tractor and bush hog and hit a yellow jacket nest. It sounds like he was bitten many, many times, he called Anne (she was in another town) screaming for help. Anne called several people asking them to go find Dan and help him, as they could get to him before she could. All is well now, but it must have been a harrowing experience! You can read about it on their FB page... Are you still catching them in your trap?

baz, oops, I did get it backwards! Sorry!  That makes it worse! ::)

TIG   Good job!

CLYNN   Wow  What a throwback to your past.  Do you remember much of the house at that age?   Even the St Lawrence seaway cruise is $$$  Suppose Dan may have had to go to the ER.  Disastrous, had he been allergic.  I cringe just thinking about it.   Love that sweet carved kitty - I want one. I see they are on Etsy   ;) ;) ;)

LANI   Hope you had a fun day today.

Saw this in an email blog I subscribe to:

WE ARE A GENERATION THAT WILL NEVER COME BACK.

A generation that walked to school and then walked back.

A generation that did their homework alone to get out asap to play in the street.

A generation that spent all their free time in the streets with their Friends.

A generation that played hide and seek when dark.

A generation that made mud cakes.

A generation that collected sports cards.

A generation that found, collected and washed & Returned empty coke bottles to the local grocery store for 5 cents each , then bought a Mountain Dew and candy bar with the money.

A generation that made paper toys with their bare hands.

A generation who bought vinyl albums to play on record players.

A generation that collected photos and albums of clippings of their life experiences as a Kid.

A generation that played board games and cards on rainy days.

A generation whose TV went off at midnight after playing the National Anthem.

A generation that had parents who were there.

A generation that laughed under the covers in bed so parents didn't know we were still awake.

A generation that is passing and unfortunately it will never return no matter how hard we try.

I loved Growing up when I did. it was the best of times.[/size]

Definitely a much diffeent time in the 60s and 70's. Sadly never come again

We had a Safeway in Indio, Calif. My family grocery shopped there a lot. Then before Dad died moved to Joplin, M0 and Skaggs Alpha Beta.

CLynn no more chipmunks---I love those little critters---loads of squ irrels tho.   I'd love to ride the restored Orient Express! Then and now. Read so much about
it, esp in Agatha's novels and several versions of motion pictures by same name.   Oh yeah a barge down the Thames and the Seine . Cute wooden kitty.

Tsk anyone using  Windows 11 will get Copilot in update download. Dan said he's going w/ Mac.

Tig so glad your testing is fine. Tks for the link to your resort spot. Looks nice and comfy.  I'd be outdoors all the time there!

Lani Otis looks good

KB cute little joke; tks for V3 update and photo---darn good looking BE; eager to read your Mr/Mrs Tower reports; those are distressing statistics about our generation being 'homeless'. I think as time goes on this will be  the norm.

E4E Publix does the digital coupons/discounts; now when I get their 'Weekly Ad' via email I have to login to the 'My Publix' account. Everything is going high
              security  and rapidly

Bazi I've been running Windows 11 for about 3.5 years.
According to the email...If anyone's PC OS is Windows 11 then the updates coming down to us will have Windows 'CoPilot' in them as well as 150 other  'new things' to make our lives easier and more productive=.  I ask you Bill Gates---how in the "H 377" does a retired insurance agent/home maker need all this *&$ to make her life 'easier'?
I want my words and actions to be my own and I want to be the one writing them and sending then to whom I choose.  Not a computer program and certainly not making purchases on my behalf because 'it' thinks it's better for me.
LOL What I want is an android to do my housework and yardwork. That's all.

I wish I could post the email I got.
I certainly hope all the techy articles I've been reading are right about  the  'right to choose'. But, alas they xperts all say this is a 'fallacy'.
Bazi, I suspect this will occur during the night when PCs are shutdown---upon reboot in the AM this will all install.  I could be wrong.  At any rate, I was happier 4 days ago.
