Got a nice birthday greeting f rom Dan today. He's  a bit early---but that's okay coming from him.    ;)
Says he's doing well enough and doing his best in his old man way to keep busy.
And, everything else is   'SOSDD'.    ;D

BL-thanks for the bird ID on the hippo.

Tig- sounds like all went well at Docs

E4E- how was the family 'get-together' today?  Mighrt be early to say---sure will be thinking of your mom Thursday esp. Prayer candle here  lit .

Karen- sadly the 'ol ' bod 'doesn't work like it use to.

Tsk- how nice lunch w/ 'the girls' good time to 'catch up' and all

Lani-  ditto Tsk on sloth's med issues

Lisa-  how's your  mom doing?;  happy to read the  Lizzie and Stewie are adjusting  to Sydney's presence. Any critters on the backyard cam lately?

Well---I hear Jim  calling means he's finished for today. More tomorrow.   So will call it a day. Hope I didn't' forget anyone.  ::)

Well, the landscaping crew arrived at 10 and did not leave until 4!  They drove off with a big fenced thing behind a truck that was full of branches and trees!   Everything was very overgrown so it was all trimmed to cut down no higher than about 4 feet.  Not the trees!  Lol.  They did take out an elm tree that had grown up into a Savannah Holly!  There is another elm in the back, outside my fence that was too big for them to tackle.  Things will grow back quickly and be managed better!   I feel like my green walls disappeared!  I had them dig up some amaryllis bulbs that had been covered with too much dirt to bloom.  I may put them in a pot!   I just thought I would clarify that the weeding was the least of the work!  These folks will keep after this, most just want to mow and blow!
Have a good evening all,  seds

Lani - Have a good evening  ;D

Phyl - Thank you so much for your kind wishes!  Yes, we all had a very wonderful afternoon;  my Mom loved seeing her sisters.  Mom & sis were the first to leave, but they stayed for at least 3 hrs.!  Mom said she had been awake since 1 am and was needing to go home and rest.
Thank you so much for posting Amy's blog;  It was a reminder of the Great Spirits Bluff Falcons and they tragedy they suffered. RIP Savannah - it was a sad reminder, but glad for the blog to talk about it again. :'(
So nice that you heard from your brother Dan!!

Clynn - Such great and wonderful news that Mom Decorah is well & fine and still in Decorah!! :-* ;D

Tsk - We had a great family get-together today!  Mom loved seeing her family;  2 sisters, a BIL, and her nephew from Germany!  The nephew's Dad (my Mom's brother passed in 2017).   My Mom's other brother passed in January 2022.
In answer to your question about what my cousin does; he has worked for 'LSG Alzey' in Germany for 25 years.  He works in making the frozen dinners that Airlines serve to their passengers.

Tig - Hope your appts went ok for you today.

Karen - Sounds like a lot of yard work going on over there! ;D

LisaG - Your Mama is on the mend for sure since there is no more fever!!  She just needs to get lots of rest and hydrate! :)

Lani - So sorry for the Sloth 'Gonzo'.

Baz - Great pics from your Sis - gorgeous evening in SC!!

Beakers have a nice evening - SEDs  :)

Good Morning Beakers!

Lani, missed your good night post, hope it's just your internet acting up again...

E4E, I was so happy to see that FB post from Sue B, so wonderful to see Mom and DM2 looking good! I hope they raise some kids next year!  Your family get together sounds like fun, it's always good to see family that you don't see often!

karen, your yard got a nice facelift! Wonder what Piper thinks of it?

Phyl, I'm glad you heard from Dan, I know you worry about him...

From the Iowa State Fair

Apologies ..
I am so very far behind'

This photo certainly says it all

They've fledged ! ...8-6-2023     12:53pm   all that's left is part of a broken shell.

The 3rd clutch of the season has apparently fledged and completed 'Flight School' with their dad CR44.
Sneaky little critters.
And mom's (CR47)holding down the 'fort' so-to-speak.
Had once thought s he might even join them.   But seems like she spent most
of the time as dad's second at base.
.
All I've seen are two of the younger chicks. CR #59 and # 60 OR CR 58 and 59. Both are extremely camera shy. The little 'buggers' !
Not at all sure what has happened  to CR #s 56, 57, and 58. Hopefully, they are more camera shy than the younger chicks.  Or maybe they've gone on into the world all on their own.

Since fledgling haven't seen CR #s49 and 51 who've stayed on to help feed and tend the nesting box.  At any rate you both have been invaluable and we salute you!
Do take care out there---not everyone is like us!  Please visit---you know where we are and how to find us.  :-*

Anyway---hoping the shy feathered buggers get over their ‘Shyness’ soon. Otherwise, it’s not gonna be easy  for this gal getting some snaps.
You hear me?! :-*

Corrected stats for 3rd clutch of 2023 Nesting Season

5 eggs laid 7-10-23

5 eggs hatched 7-21-23 to 7-23-23

As far as we know 5 chicks fledged  about 7-6-23.

* a word of worry. Jim has failed to keep the nesting box padlocked. It has been unlocked for the pas two seasons. This is the first
season where doubt is cast on the number that actually fledged.
Hopefully, Jim will attach a small padlock and leave the key with me in the house.

Good Morning Beakers

Having some nice weather for a few days - low 80s for highs...  no rain in the 10 day forecast and the heat coming in for the weekend - 90 on Sat and 97 on Sun with mid 90s into Wed.  We only got 1/4 inch of rain on Monday - the 1 inch on Friday was the biggest rain event since July 12th...

BL posted this song first last night, which lead me to more... ::)

Good Morning on this hump day!  Beautiful daisies this am!  Pink and white!   Lisa, hope your hair looks great!   I need a hair cut  but trimmed the bushes first!   Yard will not be a show case but it is now under control!   As I am sure Baz can tell you when your growing season is about 12 months long and squirrels run around planting trees you cannot ignore it for long!  Lol.  There are pluses and minuses. Piper isn’t sure what she thinks of the pine straw arrangements!

E4e, sounds like a good visit yesterday!  Where do your aunts live?  Sorry your Mom had to leave early.  I hope she feels better after her surgery!

Had a good rain for a bit in the middle of the night but hot and humid today!  The brief spell we had yesterday evening brought with it an hour of delightful weather!  It lasted about an hour and Piper and I took advantage of it!
Old Guy, how was the family reunion?

Time for pills and hh worker.

Hi Lilbro, Blschue, Lori, Clynn, Tsk, Lisa, Karen, Oldguy, Puff, Eagles, Kb, Tig, Baz, Phyl, Peep, Jaspurr, Pink, Jilltosa, BL, Eburg, Weasel, Ezee, Bggolden, T40, ssrl, Maxie, Nrstooge, Omasawyer, Paulie, jicaji, LB, and All!

Oldguy, What a wonderful safe haven WS has made for the cats... sweet Walter puts up with the cats too.... wonderful videos, thanks for taking the time to post them.  :)

BL,  :)

Clynn, I fell asleep early last night  :-[. ... fun pics from the state fair... love the watermelon cups. And longest beard contest. ;D

Eagles, glad you had a lovely visit with your family... I ended up falling asleep before posting last night  :-[. I hope you had a lovely evening too.  ;D ... prayers for your mom  :-*

Phyl, lovely good night pic ... good to hear Dan is doing well.... BBs season is over, now you can enjoy watching them, feeling safe and secure in their territory (yours/Jim's yard

Tsk, yes, baby sloths really have a lot of issues. No wonder the adults don't live too long either. And you find their babies alone.  :'( .... how nice the weather changed in time for you and friends to be able to enjoy a nice leisurely lunch.  :)

Baz, stunning pics from Pawleys Island... you and Zippo take care in this hot weather.

Karen, I think Lori's lemon/blueberry cake would have a lemon/cream cheese frosting placed on top of bottom cake layer then top with fresh blueberries. Then another layer then same process. The Pansies are eidible too.   https://awesomedesserts247.blogspot.com/2015/05/lemon-blueberry-layer-cake.html   I think I might make a lemon curd filling. Love lemon curd... enjoy your lovely yard.  :-*

{{{Tig}}} glad you could get everything taken care of.

Lisa, enjoy your day at the Salon!  ;D

Lani, good to see you and thanks for the cake recipe !  Also for the Royal a and sloth  reports!  That cake is so good looking even though I am a big fan of chocolate and Italian cream cakes!  Adding this to my list!
