I AM THE FLAG OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA
By Howard Schnauber

I am the flag of the United States of America.
My name is "Old Glory".
I fly atop the world's tallest buildings.
I stand watch in America's halls of justice.
I fly majestically over institutions of learning.
I stand guard with power in the world.
Look up and see me.

I stand for peace, honor, truth and justice.
I stand for freedom.
I am confident.
I am arrogant.
I am proud.

When I am flown with my fellow banners,
My head is a little higher,
My colors a little truer.

I bow to no one!
I am recognized all over the world.
I am worshipped -- I am saluted.
I am loved -- I am revered.
I am respected -- and I am feared.

I have fought in every battle of every war
for more then 200 years.
I was flown at Valley Forge, Gettysburg,
Shiloh and Appomattox.
I was there at San Juan Hill,
the trenches of France,
in the Argonne Forest, Anzio, Rome
and the beaches of Normandy, Guam,
Okinawa, Korea, and Vietnam.
I was there. I led my troops.
I was dirty, battle-weary and tired,
but my soldiers cheered me
And I was proud.

I have been burned, torn and trampled
on the streets of countries I have helped set free.
It does not hurt, for I am invincible.

I have been soiled upon, burned, torn
and trampled on the streets of my country.
And when it's by those whom I've served in battle -- it hurts.
But I shall overcome -- for I am strong.

I have slipped the bonds of Earth
and stood watch over the uncharted frontiers of space
from my vantage point on the moon.
I have borne silent witness
to all of America's finest hours.
But my finest hours are yet to come.

When I am torn into strips
and used as bandages
for my wounded comrades on the battlefield,
When I am flown at half-mast to honor my soldier,
Or when I lie in the trembling arms
of a grieving parent at the grave of their fallen son or daughter,
I am proud.

MY NAME IS "OLD GLORY".
LONG MAY I WAVE.
DEAR GOD IN HEAVEN,
LONG MAY I WAVE.

GOOD MORNING

55 heading to 79  mostly sunny  :)

TIG   I can see now why a regular boat is better for your situation as you are alone in it.

BL  Many of us getting some respite weather to take advantage of. :)

PUFF  I can't believe your irrigation hasn't been turned on!!  The ground is so hard, the system would need to be on all day to make a difference.

PHYL   Thanks for all the nest updates and the flag poem  :)

HAVE A WONDERFUL BIRTHDAY KAREN

Good Morning Beakers!

Never lie, steal, cheat, or drink. But if you must lie, lie in the arms of the one you love. If you must steal, steal away from bad company. If you must cheat, cheat death. And if you must drink, drink in the moments that take your breath away. ~ Unknown

There is a "SYSTEM" tsk that is great when it gets opened.

There's a safety system that gets set in the fall to stop freezing leftover water in the system pipes that then pop a crack in the underground.  Routine is:  turn off water system to the underground maze, blow air though to get all the water out; the opposite in the spring - open main water value to fill it back up with H2O.  And, just in case, in the spring turn on and check for any cracks/problems in the system.

Two big problems ala old lady with knee replacements - if I go down the turn valve off/on then I'm ordained to remain until support services comes to get me back up on two feet.
:-\

Sometimes, mostly often, things do not work according to schedule.  Usually we did this routine at the end of April, beginning of May.  Latest word is he'll be here Tuesday.  Holding my breath, NOT.  Always - a lot of the time - unreliable people interference with project.

It is a godsend when in operation.  Starts at 5 a.m., 9 station combinations for length of time on, regulate days to be done, water sensor turns system off if there's any meaningful rain.  One plus that I missed this time around is the different patterns/designs you can set.  I.E.  There are 3 big back and forth patterns for the big main areas; there are fan type sprays down the sides of the house and across the front curb; and then there's directional sprays pointed at strategically located plantings.   No fun for me when I have to make 2 1/2 - 3 hours worth of pattern changes.

Beakers, I promise the collages will be all perfect for Veteran's Day! I knew that I had a couple of photos to add, but forgot that I have a new pc with windows 11 on it, and I could NOT get it done the way I wanted to!

tsk, our ground is very dry too, I think we have some rain coming with the hot week on the way! They have upped it to 85 for today, so I imagine the AC will have to come on. Now the door to the deck will be shut, so the cats have to be in or out!

Phyl, thanks for all the picture updates! We sure do have a lot of interesting things we love to keep up on, no one person could remember it all! Thank you for the beautiful words of the American Flag. So fitting for today...

Boulder County Fairgrounds - May 28: #3 hatched a little before 1pm yesterday! One more to go!

Lani, Sydney's Mom & Stepdad are keeping the kids while the bigger kids are gone! They have never spent the night here, so it would be a new thing for them. Don't want to try it with Mom & Dad out of town!

Good Morning Beakers

tsk - Thank you for kind words on flowers  :-*  Same temps as you, but we are cloudy today.  I see some rising temps next week.

Phyl - Thanks for the kind words on the Vinca's.  I am just glad that I found them.  Love those lanterns from last night.  Thanks for the Flag poem, and pics from the cam.

tig - I would think a pontoon boat would be harder to fish from too.

E4E - It is not an easy thing to do to get the kitties to eat, but I am trying.  Thank goodness Jeff has been off a few days and is helping me.  Thanks for kind word of flowers.

BL - Sounds like nice weather for you.

Lani - Thank you.  :)

clynn - Thanks for putting the collages together.  Hope Talon & Bella make out ok at the other grandma's house, since they have never spent the night there.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Karen!!!!!!
