https://www.loppet.org/events/festival/

Here is a list of all the things at the annual Loppet Festival...from skijoring to skiing to fat tire biking.
If you open up the events like the luminary evening festival you can see how large around the lake it is and more pics...they also set up "waves"...start times to walk the luminary as there are so many people that go.

Tsk temps warming for you;  Lulu in Caturday mode;  think it's unanimous, so nice if  RRP would band the eaglelets

Clynn awesome display Luminary Loppet, Minneapolis ; more than one way to cut a cake--- to fit in plate better, one could take the top  'ice cream cones'  and 'popsicle ' off and reserve to serve seperately or for who ever wants and cut  as usual. It's likely a 3 or 4 tier as is popular these days ---deoesn't need any special cutting, looks awfully rich.

Lani 'catbee' LOL

Eagles  Nat'l Cat Health Month https://nationaltoday.com/national-cat-health-month/ Thanks for the reminder

Tig cool memory Mills Bros. My parents had several of their records (LPs) and Ink Spots too.

Oldguy those huge syringes come in handy when one has a pet.
Baraban-TV,  never good idea to put kitty or dog  in dryer as isolation, otherwise LOL

KB thank you for extra info on Luminary Loppet; nice to see the RTHs, at least you have them until The Towers arrive. BTW not that 'fuzzy' ; all the best w/your puzzle, photo of finished ?

This might help warm some peeps up ..
The Observatory on top of Mt. Washington, NH (6,288') broke the record for the coldest Wind Chill ever recorded in the US including AK.   -108.4 ° F
It also tied the summit stations ambient air temperature record @ -47.1 ° F
The peak wind gust for this event was 127 mph

MWOBS is staffed 24/7/365 and the person on duty goes outside every hour to take physical weather readings.    :o  8)
Quote from: MWOBS
The meteorologist heads to the designated spot for measuring ambient air temperature, turns his headlamp on, and spins the sling psychrometer, a low-tech instrument that’s reliable in a variety of extreme conditions. This manual weather observation process has been happening the same way, every hour, since 1932. With side-by-side dry-bulb and wet-bulb thermometers, measurements are used to calculate dew point and relative humidity, the amount of water vapor in the air.

they just put up no parking signs up and down, both sides of my entire block!...yup, they are coming Monday..a very big job btw....a crane and delicate work probably using the parking lot of an apartment complex across the street too....a very big mature tree and can't kill anything on my property!.....thanks, AT&T.....the city will pay for it, I heard....it's their tree even though they didn't kill it....taxpayers will!
Ha, my neighbor who has 5 vehicles and only allowed 4 (per lot).....will just have to make do....LOL
I actually called her being the nice person I am but I shouldn't have as she's killed my other arbors, throws snow on my property and plays music outside after 2am for hours and hours....etc.etc.

I'll be watching!....I need a binocular emoji

Speaking of hawks!...from my earlier post.

Inver Grove Heights Police Dept:

We received a call from a concerned citizen regarding a hawk that appeared to be injured in the roadway on Bester Ave. near Blaine Ave.
Officer Meade arrived and located the hawk. It did not appear to be thrilled with her presence (see the evil side-eye pic).
The hawk was carefully captured and transported to the The Raptor Center.

Phyl - yes, I'll post a pic of my puzzle when done.....I'm now not thinking it will be done this weekend though. I took a nap!

T40, great cat videos, love the Devil in Disguise! And the cat giving treats to the dog!

BL, OMG, -108 degrees? Could anyone survive in that?  I remember one time when we lived in Duluth MN the temp was -28, the wild chill was -87. But I was in High School, I didn't care...  ::)  It is now 50 here, the forecast was for 45 this morning. Feels like spring... I read that NH will be in the 30s tomorrow. Drastic change!

Phyl, Hello Bob, it's Caturday! Yes, those big syringes (I had them for giving the kids cold medicine or tylenol) are handy to give liquid to cats. I was able to give pills to my siamese but not Harley or Honey!! I have dissolved a pill in water and given with the syringe. Eventually they are on to that too!!

tsk, love the pictures of Lulu, what a sweet kitty!

kb, beautiful hawk, so glad he was saved...

Born in the 50s Raised in the 60s

…Long long time ago…
At 12:55am, Central Time, Feb.3, 1959, the plane departed, It was 61 years ago today. (yesterday)
The Winter Dance Party tour played at the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake, IA on the night of Feb. 2, 1959. The show featured The Big Bopper (JP Richardson), Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and Dion.
The tour was having its problems. One of them was the distance between venues and the conditions prevalent aboard the poorly equipped tour buses adversely affected the performers. The heat on the bus had stopped working and many of the people on the bus had got sick. Frustrated by the conditions, Holly decided to charter a plane when they stopped for their performance in the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake, Iowa, to reach their next venue in Moorhead, Minnesota. Carroll Anderson, owner of the Surf Ballroom, chartered the plane from the Dwyer Flying Service to fly them to Fargo ND.

Richardson, who was affected by the flu, swapped places with Buddy Holly's bass player Waylon Jennings. Ritchie Valens, who had once had a fear of flying, asked Buddy Holly's guitarist Tommy Allsup for his seat on the plane. Allsup and Valens decided to toss a coin to decide. Bob Hale, a DJ with KRIB-AM, who was working the concert that night and flipped the coin in the ballroom's sidestage room shortly before the musicians departed for the airport. Valens won the coin toss for the seat on the flight.

Dion DiMucci (of Dion and the Belmonts fame) had been approached to join the flight, although it is unclear exactly when he was asked. Dion decided that since the $36 fare (equivalent to US $291.20 in 2018) equaled the monthly rent his parents paid for his childhood apartment, he could not justify the indulgence.

The chartered plane sat three passengers and the pilot. When Holly learned that Jennings was not going to fly, he said in jest, "Well, I hope your ol' bus freezes up." Jennings responded, "Well, I hope your ol' plane crashes," a humorous but ill-fated response that haunted Jennings for the rest of his life.

When the show ended, Carroll Anderson drove Holly, Valens, and Richardson to the airport. The plane departed from the ramp and taxied to then-Runway 17 at around 12:55 a.m. Central Time on Tuesday, February 3. The weather report indicated light snow with a ceiling of 3,000 feet (910 m) MSL and winds from 20 to 30 mph (32 to 48 km/h). Though there were indications of deteriorating weather along the route, the weather briefings Peterson received failed to relay the information.

Just after takeoff, Peterson became disoriented due to the unfamiliar way the aircraft's attitude indicator depicted pitch, combined with an inability to find a point of visual reference on a starless night with no visible lights on the ground and the inability to detect the horizon. He lost control of the plane. The plane hit the ground and the aircraft cartwheeled across a cornfield belonging to Albert Juhl. The plane was at a slight downward angle and banked heavily to the right when it struck the ground at around 170 mph (270 km/h). The plane appears to have crumpled and then skidded another 570 feet (170 m) across the frozen landscape before the broken wreckage came to rest against a wire fence at the edge of Juhl's property.
The plane wasn't reported missing until the next morning.

There were no survivors.

To many, it was the day the music died. At least that is what the song says. In reality, the music they had made has lived on. We all just wonder about the music they would have made had they survived.
Never lie, steal, cheat, or drink. But if you must lie, lie in the arms of the one you love. If you must steal, steal away from bad company. If you must cheat, cheat death. And if you must drink, drink in the moments that take your breath away. ~ Unknown

HAPPY CATURDAY!!!   :)

Herrrrrre's Etta!  ;D   This picture was taken last Saturday, while she was visiting at my Littlest Greatniece's house in Virginia.  Etta and her mom (who is my sister, and grandmother to my Littlest Greatniece) are both back in their home in NC now.  :) :-*

Clynn, yes, my Littlest Greatniece is still in the trial, and doing well. She, and her mom, and my sister, were all in Boston 2 weeks ago for 5 days for assessments and such related to the trial. I haven't had enough conversation with my sister since then to get a report or any recent details related to that though. Loved your pics of your recent time with Bella!  :D  Glad it's just a cold that she has - though they can be so miserable sometimes. Ugh.

Have a great day, Beakers!  :)

Homemade pizza tonight: pepperoni cut into heart shapes on regular crust with mushroom pasta sauce,  mozzerella, fresh babybella mushrooms in the blank spaces.  Canned Chickenbreast on feta /spinach with kalamatra olives drizzled with olive oil.  Romaine , sweet butter lettuce, b. kale/spinach topped w/Caesar dressing. Choice of vino, a brew or Pepsi.
