I also watched the funeral/Memorial service this afternoon!   i had a brief personal interaction with Mrs.  Carter in a book store.  She was talking with her 0a very young girl who had just selected a few books and I was impressed with her getting down to the child's level and her conversation with her!  I hope, the now adult remembers it as well as I did!  She signed some books for me before going back to the white House. A very vibrant, charming compassionate woman.

Dare I say, Yea Bears!

I havent done any indoor Christmas decorating yet but may start tomorrow!  Have a few things ro do outside which I will finish soon!

My steam mop died yesterday so spent some time finding and ordering a new one!   Should be here on Friday!   They do a great job and no need for chemicals on the floor!

Clynn, that picture of the cloud and the
Mackinac Bridge is something!  WOW!  I would be terrified  if I was driving up there and such a cloud rolled in!  Oh My!

Lisa, do you think Jaspurr is away for the holiday?  I was thinking of her and the kitties the other day.

Lani and Eagles, hope your eye exams are good!   Lani, cataract surgery is good!  You will be thrilled with the difference it makes!

Have to clean up the kitchen!

Butt slide, lolol

Karen - She may be away, I really don’t know.  I was just concerned since I had not heard from her lately.

Phyl - Pretty good night pic.

Tig - You sounded very busy today.

Tsk - I thought the cups looked very inviting, too. 😀

TIG   You're not alone as Eagles and Lisa are cutting back as well.  I say every year that I'm going to do that but.....It just takes me longer now. ::)

PHYL   Another great pic of the cloud roll.

KAREN   What a neat experience to have had an interaction with Mrs Carter.  They were/are wonderful people.   For the Bear/Viking game I actually went to bed with about 5 minutes left - clicked on the PC this AM and to my amazement they won.  Don't know how they did it with so many penalties - 4 turnovers tho I think.   Is that a steam mop for tile surfaces?   I last heard from Jaspurr on Nov 23.

LISA   I last heard from Jaspurr on Nov 23 last Thurs.

Here on the hacienda grooving into a Wednesday with some Tuesday afternoon snow squalls.
Leroy the Llama got particularly 'gitty up' having seen 28 snowflakes
The honey's due list is all done.
All the snow type machines have been turned over.  Removal & Traverse.
I hear tell of some real fun real Snow up on the Tug Hill Plateau this eve.
And baz don't make me say it.   ;)

I got a brother in arms that lives on Highmarcket Rd, NY.   8)

The sledding is stellar here is all I last heard after their motors stopped.
I know exactly where they are _ you can here an owl fart 2 miles away on a calm day.
There's some serious snow hissing past the goggles right now I know.

Here's another view of Shelf cloud over the Mackinac Bridge.  Showed this to Jim and he called it a 'cloud roll'. Saying they usually come before severe weather i.e. T-storms. And are along the edge of a cold front. It's lifting the air up and infront of itself-causing that roll.

Phyl, looks like an ice berg.... amazing and scary.

National Square Dancing Day
Get ready to do-si-do and promenade with a lively group of friends to the sound of fiddles and calls in this fun social dance

My parents were square dancers in the early days of Eagle Mountain Mine, before I was born. They often dance with The Merry Miners locally.

Oh I almost forgot this one... ::)

Tsk  My mom also made all of her dresses and costumes.     ;D ;)     All this was before I was born and Larry/Dan were just boys.  In school teachers often made time in class for
students to learn and practice. The dance is such fun and I love it!

Good Morning Beakers!

Phyl, wow, I slept until almost 7:00 today! Rare! 30 outside, up to 48 today! Finally that cold blast is leaving! Snow flying in the 365, so pretty when it is falling.. Thanks for Amy's Blog, lots of work with Goldens in the Driftless! I remember learning to Squaredance in grade school, and also the Virginia Reel!  https://www.bing.com/videos/riverview/relatedvideo?q=virginia+reel&mid=0214DF8DEE53E85AA5190214DF8DEE53E85AA519&FORM=VIRE

The White House Christmas 2023 is revealed! This is in no way intended to be political, it's Christmas! The People's House is always spectacularly decorated for Christmas and this year is no exception.  https://www.nydailynews.com/2023/11/27/white-house-holidays-christmas-decorations/   The White House Christmas through the years:  https://www.bing.com/videos/riverview/relatedvideo?q=white+house+christmas+over+the+years&mid=43718CDD0A619AD0262E43718CDD0A619AD0262E&FORM=VIRE

tsk, Hump Day! Ed and Kelsey are heading for Springfield on Friday and will return next Wednesday! I have attack plans in place. Lots to do and not much time!   ;D

BL, sounds like you're just itchin' to go play in the snow!

karen, what a wonderful memory of Rosalyn Carter! I watched most of her service yesterday, her Grandson did a beautiful eulogy, he had the people laughing and crying... She accomplished so many things that I didn't even know about. So sad to see Jimmy looking so frail. It reminded me of my Dad's last few days. I don't think he will last long now that she is gone.

New pictures of our kittens, these are the two we are getting. A female Blue Point and a male Seal Point. Can't wait!

Watertown, N.Y.
Abraham Abraham & Nathan Straus, the two retailers who built their twin summer mansions on Cherry Island in 1899, had a long history of philanthropy. Straus, who later acquired a general partnership with the Macy’s Department store in 1888, retired in 1914, devoting his time to charity. According to Wikipedia, he served 1,135,731 penny meals for the unemployed during the winter of 1914-1915. The next year, he sold his yacht, Sisilina, to the Coast Guard and used the proceeds to feed war orphans and later fed returning American Servicemen from WWI.
Abraham also had a long history of “endeavors as a leader in all that made for the betterment of Brooklyn and its institutions, and his work as a leader in the civic life of the borough.” His accomplishments are too numerous to list here.

The Twin Pine Tree House
Located on Cherry Island, the green Twin Pine home was once half of a perfect pair. Built and owned by Nathan Strauss and Abraham Abrams, co-founders of the A&S Department Stores of New York City, the mirror image homes were an ode to the twin sisters the men married. Sadly, the friends & business partners were separated by tragedy. Abraham suffered a Heart Attack and passed away on the Island; Strauss’s brother was on board the Titanic, a loss that changed him forever. In spite of this Abraham’s son and Strauss’s daughter married and turned the remnants of the A&S department store into what we now know as Macey’s Department Stores. Unfortunately, only one of these magnificent homes remains today. What came of the demolished house? The foundation was repurposed into a massive in-ground pool!
