Lisa, HM looks really good, doesn't she?  Great to see her up close and near to N1.

It looks like we're off to a nice day here at N1.

I'd bet good money I know which direction HM's beak and eye focus is on within  4° @ 2,000' ..

BL - Your view, I am thinking is from the new cam that John had mentioned in the talk the other day, we put a new camera at N1 closer to the white barn.

Lisa - Thank you for the info! I sure didn't recognize this stunning camera angle. It made me a little queasy and envious because I'm not an eagle. LOL!

One of the Hatchery's looked like they were trying to fish the raceways this afternoon.  They ended flying back to the branch on the left of middle bluff.

Regardless of 'which' of the Hatchery's this is...great  eagle silhouette  and sunset snaps near the raceways.
Thanks Lisa

The base of the Cell Phone Tower in the background is at an ELev of about 1,090 feet.
It is about 0.4 mi WNW from the cameras in the N1 Cottonwood tree.

The base of the Cottonwood Tree that cradles the N1 BE nest is at an ELev of about 880 feet very near the southern bank of Trout Creek.

The Google Earth imagery is from 05/2015.

Now to the point of my post ..

I have never seen Trout Creek this dry to the west of N1 in all of my recollections from 2011 to now from a camera mounted here.

N1 to the Y looking at the Eagles and the barn beyond always looking left upstream.

To walk across 2 footer style by foot dry on the river stones across it's course below the elbow of the river bluffs and walk up to it.

It just makes my geologic influences very query.

This has had to have an impact on all it's reliant critters on the ground or in the wind , humans and it's responsible users upstream.

Trout Creek originates just NW of Calmer, IA.
About 8.5 miles SSW as the eagle flies from N1.

BL, thanks for the excellent geography lesson!  I love learning everything about the Decorah eagles and their environs.  My teenage grandchild has been taking an elective geography class and loving it.

BL, it's dry, dry, dry up there in Iowa.  Where I live also, we had only a tiny bit of rain in all of November.

At daylight HD (guessing) swooped over the Pond a couple times without catching anything, then flew to the bluff trees, then dropped down to the creek and came up at the fishing corner perch with a large flopping fish. Flew off and disappeared.

Lots of cam ops panning the views, and found a sub-adult eagle perching in the pine tree near the two park benches facing the creek, about 11:00 this morning.  Squall of rain and snow about noon at Decorah.

Looks like HD or HM perched atop a Pond bluff tree this afternoon.  Later, a young sub-adult perched near the horse barn and N1, then flew to the pine tree at the creek sitting benches.  Could this sub-a be DH2??  Don't we wish?   ;)

Great pics, STL  :)

Captured the same ones, so won't repost.  Wouldn't that be something if that was DH2?  That sub-adult sure seemed comfy around the hatchery.
