(Ruford? No Decorah eagle was ever named Ruford!)

Ruford the Eagle soars back onto the page in highly anticipated sequel - https://decorahnews.com/news/8937/ruford-the-eagle-soars-back-onto-the-page-in-highly-anticipated-sequel/

That must be one of those "other" nests in Decorah.  ;D

Chatroll at the Decorah Eagles Nest, Decorah North Nest, and the Mississippi River Flyway site is not working correctly.  RRP has been notified.  Thanks for your patience till it gets back to normal.  The cams are still all working fine.
Please encourage your friends to switch away from lead when they hunt and fish.

So, it looks like Ruford lives in the North Woods, and wouldn't that be farther north than Iowa?  Still, a kid's book about BE's is a good thing!

Well, I am wrong (not unusual). Ruford's first story is set in Decorah, Iowa, so likely also the sequel.  Or, could it be about dispersing to Canada?

It's a great day for soaring.  Watch on rewind; it will make you smile.  DH2 drops like a stone off the Y about 10:00 and goes soaring upstream for several minutes.  About an hour later, two turkey vultures perched on a large branch way upstream (find orange circle in pic), then they also went soaring, or maybe just one of them.  Mid-afternoon, an osprey perched on the lower section of the power tower while two large dark birds (guessing vultures) perched higher up.

DH2 and parent flying and perching above N1, on the Y, near the Pond in the pine tree, upstream, no feeding so far today at posting time.

STL, if I remember correctly, sometimes the P's like to perch across the farm in the tree line.  This might be over that way?

Morning pics from Decorah - Very early pic of the moon, DH2 in pine, and maybe one of the P's perched in tree line again.

Lisa, love the Moon pic, and eagles even more!  Colorful sunrises at Decorah and Flyway today. Might be one of those mornings when "red in the morning, sailors take warning."

Great Blue Heron perched in one of the dead trees in the distance between the Hatchery pines about 6:15 this morning.  HD2 spent several hours there this afternoon, leaving about 2:30, for a slow flight over the trees.

STL, I love the colorful sunrise, too!  That one your posted was very pretty.

Lisa, I was thinking maybe that dead branch might by at the maples, also.  The Hatchery eagles haven't used them much as perches.  All great pics of photogenic DH2!

One pic of DH2 on the nest about 7:30 AM.  Nothing much to even pick at.

Here's DH2 near the nest but not on the Y at noon.  Hard to see with the wind and the leaves.

Lori - It seems so....there is a branch that we have seen over there that DH2 goes to.  Looks like Dh2 is kinda hidden behind the leaves some.
