Nothing like getting your feet bit first thing in the morning!  Two fish deliveries by HD back to back.

LISA, I have seen several posters of the full frontal facial portrait that you captured. They all had the caption "I AM smiling"!  :)

It's furry prey day at N1, with three drop-offs of partial carcasses, I think all by HD.
12:30 = red squirrel I thought but might be something else; looks different in later views because there's long white streaky fur, fox perhaps
2:00 = rabbit
3:00 = another red squirrel

DH2 has been delivered plenty of food today.  If I counted correctly.... two fish, two things that looked unidentifiable, a bird, and a live opossum.  DH2 also got some good height this morning when they were hopping and flapping around with the wind blowing.

In the wee hours of this morning a raccoon peered into the nest.  DH2 had woken up and when the raccoon started on it's way down the tree, DH2 winglapped at it.  Afterward, DH2 slept with their head facing the direction from which the raccoon appeared.

Ginger, good catch on the raccoon at night,  And good for DH2 to wingflap at it.

Lisa, the menu for DH2 is getting more varied.  I thought maybe a muskrat at one time, but could have been the possum.  One squirrel for sure, and a rabbit or parts of both.  Cam ops got some close-ups for the watchers with strong stomachs!

A few random pics from Decorah - DH2 early morning close-up (no gnats), sunrise over the bluffs, Great Blue Heron in trees behind hatchery, and DH2 afternoon close-up (with gnats)

DH2 calling from N1, seems to be synched with the sound, so mic must be working there again.

Coolish and breezy today, so the little biting flies aren't so bad.  Lots of "regular" flies on the nestovers, though.

It's Flag Day, and a colorful sunrise at Decorah.  Cam ops -- thanks for the profile closeups of DH2.  Won't be long before a branching!

I don't recall seeing HD or HM bring any vittles all day.  Maybe they're trying to lure little one out?

Yes, Puff, fresh food in short supply.  Could be encouraging DH2 to consume some of the nestovers.  Then at about 2:30, there was a rapid food drop, couldn't see what or from which parent.  Looks like a largish bird of some kind, could be road kill.  HD on the Y, could have been the delivery service.   :)
