Lisa, HD as fish deliverer sounds plausible to me, too.  Nice to know that the larder will be full when HM decides it is time for an egg.  Kind of like breakfast in bed!

Great pics from this morning, Lisa.  There's more to the story -- HM claimed the rabbit gift, then took it to the Y for eating, but she dropped it, all before about 9:00. By the time I tuned in at 1:00, one of the eagles was eating on the rabbit carcass at the creek under the Y area.  The light was too bright to tell which, HM or HD.

Looks like they perched on a T1 branch for quite a long time, probably discussing what to do about the dropped rabbit!

It's a very good sign to see HD bringing HM "food gifts" before her egg laying time.

Every day I look for the words "We are on egg watch." ;)

To add to STL's post...HM and HD were perched on T1 for a while.  HD was watching the creek and took a dive, then we see him below eating on the rabbit.

Also, there are fish in the nest, closeup at 1:30PM looks like 2 fish and some yellowish fish eggs. I believe some kind of trout spawns at this time of year. Great nutrition for eagles.  On the rewind, I didn't find who brought the fish.

STL I believe White Sucker would be the most likely candidate.
That's the species that most closely fits the bill in this reach of Trout Creek/Run at this time of year per IA DNR.

BL - Every year, Bob Anderson would sing the praises of the white sucker and how vital that fish was to eagle populations.
Only within the moment of time represented by the present century has one species -- man -- acquired significant power to alter the nature of the world.
