I think that the nest cam shows more brilliant colors than the pasture cam.

Yesterday DNF spent time perching in four different trees by the stream:  BPT, the Twiggy Tree, the Spit Tree, and a tree that I think is just to the left of where the Scary Tree used to be.  I've seen them perch in that 4th tree several times since the cam went live.

DNF in tree to the left of Scary Tree

A beautiful red-tailed hawk landed on the side branch of the Ladder Branch.  It was only there for less than a minute.

Two Sandhill Cranes strolled through the pasture but left in a hurry when DNF arrived at the nest with a fish.

DNF brought a fish.

Mr. North also visited the nest.

Mr. North was fishing late in the day and flew down to the stream but didn't make a catch.

Ginger, thanks for the confirmation that the Scary Tree fell during the weeks the cameras were turned off.  There's a small wood pile where the stump is still.  Has someone come up with a name for that tree where the Norths are perching instead?

Great pics of the red tailed hawk at the nest!  Must check the rewind for hawk and fish earlier this morning. You are right that the colors are better from different cameras, also the light and time of day matter.  The cam ops do a fabulous job!

About 1:00 this afternoon, MrN brought a nice dark fish to the nest.  He called for DNF and I think she answered but did not join him.  He ate the whole fish then flew to the Spit area of the creek to clean up.  About 2:00, MrN returned to the Perching Branch for a short while.  Nice closeups, thanks to the cam ops!

Dec north nest fledged no young in 2022-23 season

She is probly eager for eggs - altho they arent usually laid til Dec-Jan

North Nest Recap
One egg was laid in February 2023
She spent the day chasing intruders away, after that she stopped incubating her lone egg.

Shep, you are correct that DNF stopped caring for the second egg soon after laying.  But MrN continued to incubate it for many weeks.  He also gave up before the egg could hatch.  It was likely undeveloped, according to posts from RRP at the time. Lots of info and dates available at the live stream for Decorah North.

It's very encouraging to see both MrN and DNF working at nestorations this fall.  Rain has brought out more leaf colors this morning, too.  In the pic that mentions crows, you'll need a large screen, strong zoom, and the rewind to see a small flock of them in the branches across the creek.  The cedar waxwings are easier to see; they were in the twiggy branches above the nest.

Lady North is such a Lady - so - feminine - if I can say that.
She looks gentle, she'll be a good Mom.

DNF looks like an Amazon warrior to me!!  However she looks, I agree that we hope she's a good mom again next spring.

Pics and great views from the cam ops using the various cam locations here this morning.  DNF spent a lot of time perching near the nest and a little time on the nest, not doing anything but being there.  MrN joined her for a while on the Lower Love Branch.

Shep, do you mean "like WonderWoman" and if so, sure, that's a good description.  Except that DNF is at the North nest and not at Decorah.  Whatever, let's not confuse things and leave RRP's designations alone.   ;)

Colors are changing at Decorah North rapidly now. More reds than yellows and oranges today.

They are both Decorah nests.
This confusion is one reason I HATE designations.
I want the eagles to have NAMES.
O well.
