I agree with all of your sentiments, STL. I also want to thank you and the other regulars here who post pics and comments, which enriches the whole Decorah nest experience for me. Looking forward to resuming the journey!

It's almost time for the North cams to come back online!  Need something to watch in the meantime?  The partial solar eclipse is kind of visible at Great Spirit Bluff right now, 11:45 AM.  The sky is definitely dimmer than expected at mid-day.

Cameras on!  No eagles in view yet (12:30) but panoramas of the nest, trees, pasture, cattle.  So good to see everything again.

Puff, it's a cattle chorale!

Views from this morning.  The Norths were twittering in the Love Branches just before daylight, then a brief visit to the nest.  Large buck in the distance across the creek about the same time.

Cam ops are finding the spots we remember from past season.  There's one pile of downed tree that MIGHT be the Scary Tree.  What do you-all think?

Yes, STL, that's where the Scary Tree used to be.  I don't know what happened.  Sad not to see it there anymore though.

Happy to oblige with eagle ID clues, also some of the trees.

DNF is the female of the pair, The Norths.  She is way larger than MrN.  She has distinctive feathers on the back of her head.

Labeled pic shows three locations where we often see eagles perching.

ID notes for MrN:  Easy to tell he is the smaller eagle when both are on the nest.  His head feathers are bright white all over.  He has a white bump on the lower right eyelid from an injury about 3 years ago.  Cam ops will find a closeup view soon, I'm sure.

About 7:30 AM they are working on nestorations.  MrN flies off with a clump of grasses in his talons.  It's a mistake, and he flies right back to return it.  Funny.
