nanimal & others, yes there was an egg that never hatched in recent years, but I forget which nest also.  There was a broken egg, too.

Morning today brings typical behavior with MrN on and off the nest and DNF flirting from the branches. Rain before 9:00 doesn't deter MrN.

One of Mom Decorah's eggs in 2016 @ N2B did not hatch.

RRP retrieved the egg that didn't hatch from N2B in the Fall of 2016 and had it tested ..
https://raptorresource.blogspot.com/2016/12/report-on-unhatched-eagle-egg-from-n2b.html

One of Mom Decorah and DM2's eggs also broke in 2019 at N2B.

Mrs. North laid one egg on 2/25/2018.
That egg broke in the wee hours of March 16.
She re-clutched on 4/12, laying two eggs.

BL must have abound file/gazette on Decorah events.  It's great that we have such a vast amount of talented beakers here.

Thanks BrokenLug for the report!

Ditto what Puff said. Thanks, BL!

BL has great historical records on the Decorah area nests!  Thanks so much.
About the late clutch at DNN in 2018 -- the eaglets did not survive the bad black fly season that year.  It was sooo sad.  This year, if the Norths lay new eggs in early March, the eaglets should be large enough to withstand black flies in the summer.

Life is moving on at DNN.  MrN and DNF are doing their share of flirting, but not mating that we can observe. MrN still incubates the original egg but not DNF, and the egg is uncovered a lot of the time. I still hope they will lay new eggs.

I hope so, too, STL; they've worked so hard to prepare for the eggs! Thanks, STL, Lori, and Phyl for your most recent pics, and all for your conversations here.

Today starts off like the last several.  MrN on the nest overnight,  DNF on a Love Branch before dawn. MrN joins her for closeness and twittering but no mating observed.  DNF flies off to the creek trees and MrN returns to the nest, where he is on duty at noon.

Good news at DNN.  This afternoon, after a time away from the nest, MrN returned, followed closely by DNF.  No food involved but it looked like maybe she would take an incubation turn.  No, but she did join MrN on the lower Love Branch, and copulation occurred.  So, hope again for a new egg.  For all we know, copulations might have been going on off-camera for days and days.    :D

MrN still sitting on the egg, but does he still roll it?
Cam ops have some great closeups of MrN feathers around 8:30 this morning. Rewind to watch him breathing in the closeups.

And closeups of DNF feathers & face about 11:30.  What has she been eating or rubbing on?  Could be spawning fish or roe in the creek that might be more orange than red.

Any answers on what DNF was eating earlier today?

About noon, MrN perched on the Yonder snag to dry off, maybe from a bath in the creek.

All afternoon sounds of the farming operation and an occasional voice can be heard, getting MrN's attention.

Similar morning routine here at the North nest.  Greetings at daylight on the Love Branches, but no mating observed. About 9:30, DNF came to the nest after a long time perching nearby.  MrN and DNF flew off to the north and out of sight.  At 10:00, MrN was back on the nest and rolling the egg!

Nice day for the deer to be out and about. Three crossed the creek and went up into the brush on the far side, about 12:30 this afternoon.  Rewind to watch them come into and out of the view.  They are wonderfully camouflaged, and the pic shows only two, I think.

Not much different this morning from yesterday morning.  MrN overnight on the nest; about 6:30 AM, DNF came to call; both flew off to the south today. MrN returned by 7:00.  Deer in the pasture. MrN on the nest with occasional breaks and some really good closeups, thanks to the cam ops.
Before 11:00, DNF perched on the Yonder snag and MrN left the nest.  She looks wet, perhaps from a bath or just the light rain.
