Sept 6, 2022
The eggs are being left uncovered over an hour - several times.  I dont know where the male is.  Yesterday I saw / heard her calling and calling.  She finally left - I would guess to eat.  I havent seen the male - but I dont watch constantly.

BEAUTIFUL
Sept 16, 2022
The setting sun today turned the buildings to GOLD.
They reflected in the water.

I've never watched falcons who leave eggs alone so much during incubation period.  Evidently the pair meet somewhere below, as I see one leave and hear them offcam.

WEIRD - NEW MALE?
Sept 19, 2022
The female was laying on egg
Another falcon flew to her and - apparantly - tried to mate with her.

https://www.facebook.com/groups/367collinsfalcons/posts/5619990551394638/

Seems VERY WEIRD.  Was it her mate?
Did a new young male chase off her mate?
Will she give Stud an egg?
The following may explain the mysteries.

bcaw note
I have seen talk elsewhere that the male here has been displaced possibly several days ago.

Here is the pair in 2021 - from bcaw
They were a good pair.
New male has no idea whats goin on

NEW MALE
Sept 20, 2022  in Oz
5.30 am  first light.  I hear Stud offcam vocalizing.  He does this a lot.
She responds by whining which I'd call scolding or get over here order.

I have often seen her run or fly to him after I hear him calling to her offcam.

I am going to go with new male probly first breeding year.
Just my guess but I'm gonna use it to explain the unexplainable.

Sept 21 in Oz
5.30 am  Stud is vocalizing from offcam
One chirps the other whines
5.40 am  Stud walks along edge of bldg approaching her / nest.
Echups - and he flies off
6.12 Stud returns with a large prey and lands ON CAM.
He is the one doing the whining, she is echupping.
After a minute he leaves - with prey.

Q & A Thursday Sept 22
Nice pics here
https://www.facebook.com/groups/367collinsfalcons

One person says Stud has taken a turn incubating.  I havent seen him do it.  I do hear him offcam - seemingly calling her as she goes to him.

I have seen a female lay an egg for a new male in USA some years ago - even tho we are 3 weeks into incubation.  I wont be shocked.

Sept 21 in Oz
17.40  She has been off eggs many times.  Presumably sun is keeping them sufficiently warm.  The fb blog confirms  Stud chased off her mate.  These 2 dont appear to be getting along very well.

closeup of female
2 pics of Stud
Hatch due Sept 28
It'd be rare for her to lay his egg - but not unheard of

Sept 22 in Oz
6 am  Stud runs toward her and hops on to mate - as she is brooding the eggs!
She does NOT appear to like that.
I DONT LIKE THAT!

Victor Hurley uploaded a file.
Sept 22, 2022
A second Falcon Fact Sheet has been prepared on eggs and incubation. It provides a lot of detailed information.
The bottom line is the eggs will hatch if the female keeps up her incubation duties and the eggs don't become inundated by rainfall.
All going well the eggs are due to hatch by about 28th September, 2022.

Eggs should hatch next week.
ALL 4 eggs likely the first male.
Stud - male 2 - wants his own eggs. Frequents matings.
Anything may happen.

Here is the Q&A Sept 22
https://www.facebook.com/groups/367collinsfalcons/permalink/5628442993882727/

Sep 7, 2022 may have been one of the last times her mate was seen.
Cute video

Stud is so crazy to mate so often he must expect an egg for him.  He will probably supply her with food but not brood chicks.

WHAT NEXT?
This year’s nesting season has been even more dramatic than usual, with a second, younger male successfully ousting the first male (and father of the egg clutch) from the site. The new male is now trying to breed with the female, even while she incubates her current clutch of eggs.

We’re about 8 days off hatch and also finding whether she will lay any more eggs.
And what of the original, banished male? He’s gone — either dead or what we call a ‘floater’, a nonbreeding male.

HATCH WATCH
Sept 24, 2022
Stud has no brood patch to incubate.
He does bring prey to her.
The male whining like that seems odd.
She seems to have trained Stud to WATCH - for 2 or 3 minutes - but anything's a help.

With hatch days away,  BOTH can probably hear the sounds of the chicks inside.

PIP?
Sept 25, 2022
17:23  I might see pips in 2 eggs - or it could be reflections
Cam too far away

Stud looked at the eggs - he can probably hear the chicks

Some posting in facebook believe both her mate and Stud are around.
I doubt both males would remain here.
