jaspurr--What still boggles my mind is you don't have to give anything to go thru a lock.  There are no fees.  The fully tax-subsidized Corps of Engineers will lift and lower your boat for nothing..  :-\ ;) :)
Use the talents you possess: for the woods would be very silent if no birds sang except the best.

Pics of the barge and tug called the Tom Frazier, headed upriver at about 6:00 this morning.

Lots of birds flying at the cliff face at the same time.  Likely some are swallows catching insects, and a peregrine that probably caught one of the swallows.  No pics of the birds this time.

Hey Jaspurr, please do get that sunrise pic enlarged!  Or the boat if that's what you meant.  Thanks to the cam ops for the great views they provide for us every day.

This morning about 10:00, an unbanded peregrine adult was on the cliff face, then at the top.  Similar behavior from the banded visitor a day or so ago.  Must be really hot and hard work getting food in this location.  Could be Newman today.

And until the absent juvies reappear, the cam ops are giving us super-close views of the flowers and native bees.  Columbine earlier this afternoon.  The blue bell-like flower is familiar from last year -- must find pic from 2021 for the name.

I sure hope they're ok down there.  I always feel better when the cam can find them, but they've been ok before, keep thinking positive.

Looks like storms were in the area this morning, with colorful skies at daybreak.  Check out the Flyway on rewind for the most spectacular colors.

Adult peregrine on the ledge.  Unbanded, possibly Newman.

Adults on the eating ledge this morning, with closeups at 7:00, 8:00, and 11:00.  Looks unbanded, likely Newman, who was also perched on one of the dead branches.  At the 11:00, there are 2 falcons on the ledge, one with its back to the air, and one hidden behind the leafy branches, see just the legs/feet.

Yes, Jaspurr, I'm hoping, too.  Meanwhile, here's a different kind of barge coming downriver this morning.  Shep, what can you tell us about this one?  Looks like for a vehicle or equipment to me.

Adult Peregrine perching on a dead branch, and the brown swallows (wrong name, but right color) are hunting insects.  They must have lots of swallowlets growing in those holes in the cliff face.
