Jaspurr, I have not heard peeping from the eggs, but traffic noise muffles small sounds from the nest.  There's frequent shuffling of the eggs today, perhaps to help crack the eggshells?  I don't know, peregrine hatching is new for me.  No first hatch visible at 10:20AM.

Me too STL.  Late last night and early this morning the eggs bouncing against each other sounded like they were bowling.  It seemed a little rough to me but I guess it is normal.  This is very different from watching eagles hatch.  I am still hearing faint peeping.  Is the egg you posted this morning still in the nest?

jaspur, sky on bcaw posted she hears the chicks.  :D

I understand the chicks have a bowling tournament prior to hatching.
The winner gets to hatch first
there's been a tie .. now they draw straws
bet we have a hatch before dawn

Another shift change at 4:13.  Is it just me?  That egg doesn't look to good to me and when they move it, it seems lighter in color than the other three.  :-\

Nora, I'm also concerned about the egg that has the pip-open area. Zooey has been picking at the broken shell now and then, but there doesn't seem to be any progress.  Betcha the chicks are dizzy from all the rapid egg rolling!  Thinking calm and successful hatches at GSB.

6:48, The peeping is getting louder and the rough shuffling is starting again.  I don't see any dents in the remaining three eggs.  I hope SHEP is right about a hatch by dawn,

8;24, looks like a pip in one of the eggs.  A nice food offering was brought to the box but rejected.

8:36. falcon returns, shuffles eggs no peeping heard

8:44 silence, going to bed.  hoping everything is ok.   :(

OH HAPPY DAY Nora.  I was so worried when they stopped peeping before I went to bed.  I see the egg shell in the corner.

1:53. Lots of glorious peeps now and more shuffling  ;D.

3:03 n Just got my first glimpse of new eyas

Congratulations to the GSBs on the new addition to the nest box!  Pics aren't great, but you can see a white ball of fluff, and it is moving (see rewind).

TWO LITTLE HEADS.  Had to go back and double check.   ;D ;D ;D ;D

STL, go back in slow motion.  Start where Zooey leaves the nest box.  You can hear the second one peeping behind the older one in front.

Jaspurr, you are the eagle-eyed detective this morning!  The second egg that was so "damaged" and open has produced a second chick!  Awesome and way to go, peregrines!  :-*
