We not only worry about owl - but coon
WHY would he go there?

Around 8:09PM nest time a raccoon showed up on RLD and was eating stashed prey (Newman or GHO not sure who was the owner/stasher). Remember John mentioning RLD was accessible to raccoons and hence the scrape there would not be safe.

Raccoon, GHO, peregrines -- lots of action at GSB bluff lately.

Sunrise spectacular all around the area this morning.  I liked the reflection in the open water at the locks in this pic.

Rewind will show a peregrine perched in dense branches.  Do we know yet if it is Zooey?

Here they are on the ledge together, Newman and Zooey. She has a small black bird as prey.  Very good to see them together.

Newman and Zooey on the ledge together again early this morning. Then he in the nest box and she on the ledge at about 9AM.  Chat on the Flyway posted a video of the GSBs mating on Saturday, MAR 5.

Newman caught a small prey bird and gave it to Zooey at the nest box this morning about 7:00.  He has been perching nearby the rest of the morning.  Great closeups, thanks to the cam ops!

the Kentucky falcon laid an egg.
So its not too early

Newman brought breakfast for Zooey to the ledge, early, sunshine, such a pair!  She has a loud raspy call.

Zooey in view at the nest box this morning. She was puttering inside, scraping the gravel a little.  Peregrines don't build nests, so she might be thinking about eggs to come.

Newman perched on a tiny ledge to the left of the big ledge, early this morning.  He's a real cliff-hanger!  Then to the larger ledge for a good while. No prey, no Zooey.

Zooey (I think) had a bird for brunch on a branch under the nest box.  Probably red-winged blackbird, guessing from the color and size as she de-feathers it.
